Okay, I take it back, post-punk.com does look like it may be reliable in some way or another, but a simple list including The Smiths and SDC is not enough. It must be a detailed, prose review or description of the band to be a credible example. dannymusiceditor ^{Speak up!} 22:23, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

@ DannyMusicEditor: Post-Punk.com is without the slightest doubt a more than reliable source in terms of the post-punk movement! We are not talking about a homogeneous music-style like doom-metal or disco. Each band underwent it's own development. By the mid-80ies A Certain Ratio had already become a funk and dance-funk band, The Cult (formerly known as Southern Death Cult and Death Cult) were playing Hard-Rock and Blues, and The Smiths, combining 60ies-Rock with Post-Punk, had "invented" Alternative or Indie-Rock. We can hardly call Electric, Force or Strangeways, Here We Come post-punk albums. But still we can say that those bands had initially emerged from the British post-punk movement, just developing in different directions. I already have provided more references in the article.
