Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative (PRBI)

Hello Kmarazzi,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative (PRBI), may be copied from http://www.criticalhub.com/news_events_001.html. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Speedy deletion nomination of Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative (PRBI)

A tag has been placed on Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative (PRBI) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Status and Advice

As reviewing admin, I deleted Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative, both because of copyvio and because it was promotional.

A Wikipedia article needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release-- Write in formal terms, talking about what the organization has accomplished, as shown by sources. If it merely plans to do something, it is not likely to be appropriate for an article. Remember not to copy from a web site, even your own -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you own the copyright and are willing to give us permission according to WP:DCM--which is more than just permission to use on WP, but a release of the material under CC-BY-SA, which gives all the world license to use and modify it for any purpose, included commercial, , the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable. (Thus, there is no purpose in giving permission; it is better to rewrite.)

Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. I note the article stated that "As reviewing admin, I deleted Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative, both because of copyvio and because it was promotional.

Additionally, a Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. I notice that the article stated that "The main author of the PRBI is Carlo Marazzi, President of Critical Hub Networks and founder of Caribe.Net, Puerto Rico's first ISP." That you should have written an article about your own project is definitely not a good idea.
