Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Vantage Infrastructure edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Vantage Infrastructure, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Conflict of Interest edit

  Hello, Kkwiki1000. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara 03:13, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

Whilst I am employed by Vantage Infrastructure, my intention is not to unduly promote the company for which I am creating a page; we are a fund managing c.USD 3.5 billion of assets, and we believe that warrants a Wikipedia page. I have made a number of unrelated edits (not to do with my company) in the past, but not whilst logged in, and I assure you that when writing about my company, or other topics, marketing is not my purpose. Similar companies with Wikipedia pages include AMP Capital, IFM Investors, and HRL Morisson. Further information about my company, please see vantageinfra.com . I also fully disclosed my conflict of interest, as a paid employee of the company I am writing about. In addition, I intend to continue contributing to other Wikipedia pages, both within my area of expertise (infrastructure investment, and outside, as I have done in the past as a non-logged in user. Decline reason:

What your draft did was merely tell about your company, which is considered promotional here.(I expand on this below.) From reading it I would agree that you are too close to the company to write about it with the neutral point of view required, and as such you will not be unblocked to just tell about your company. If you want to write about other subjects outside of your conflict of interest, please state what those might be in another unblock request, I am declining this one. 331dot (talk) 13:53, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Please note that Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about a company. This is an encyclopedia, where article subjects must be shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources to meet the relevant notability guidelines, in this case those written at WP:ORG(please review). Wikipedia has no interest in what a company wants to say about itself. Not every company merits an article here, even within the same field. Other similar articles existing does not automatically mean yours gets to exist too, see Other Stuff Exists. Your company may be notable based on what you say, but there must be appropriate sources about it and you shouldn't be the one to write about it. In order for you to be successful at doing so, you essentially need to forget everything you know about your company and only write based on what independent sources state. This usually means that such articles are duller than a company representative might want them to be. It is possible for COI editors to do that, but it is rare. 331dot (talk) 13:53, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

That makes sense. I am still happy to contribute in other ways, including about infrastructure investment, finance and other topics I am knowledgable about - is it possible to remove the block for edits in other areas please. Kkwiki1000 (talk) 14:35, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

No, you have a conflict of interest in that area. Yamla (talk) 12:11, 6 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • For fairness, someone else will review your block, but since your company is in the financial industry it is going to be difficult for you to be able to directly edit in that area due to your conflict of interest. You would probably be limited to edit requests on article talk pages. 331dot (talk) 15:07, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Could this block be re-reviewed. I a. A regular contributor as a guest, and am now unable to make changes to pages while logged in. Kkwiki1000 (talk) 01:20, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I certainly hope you aren't making edits while logged out. You are not permitted to do that, and doing so may lead to an indefinite ban (not just a block) from Wikipedia. --Yamla (talk) 12:12, 6 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
