You closed this AfD as keep. I'm asking that you review your decision because while keep "votes" outnumbered delete ones they were based on the inclusion of a single Times article about the organization. WP:ORG, however stipulates that notability is based on "significant coverage" which is not fulfilled by a single article. Another keep argument even admitted that the director hasn't taken over yet but was notable and thus the organization was notable. That's a fallacy though since Wiki is not a WP:CRYSTALBALL. Basically, while I appreciate your review of the discussion, I don't believe the AfD was closed with enough due weight being given to the substance of the arguments and policies surrounding them. --Ave Caesar (talk) 00:36, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I could reopen it if you want. -- King of ♠ 00:38, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sure, that would be appreciated. Can you relist as well? --Ave Caesar (talk) 00:39, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No consensus edit

Hey there. Since you do a lot of AfD work, I was wondering when would be an appropriate time to close an AfD as "No consensus". I've never done it before, then again, I've never really seen a non-admin do that before. :P -- RyRy (talk) 01:08, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is true that non-admins don't often make close calls; I guess it's because admins generally have more experience. Please see WP:NAC for more info. In any case, I would close "no consensus" if the !votes are (for example) delete, delete, keep, delete, keep, keep, delete, keep (assuming equally valid arguments are presented, and neither side has much weight over the other). Something like delete keep, delete, delete keep, delete, delete, keep, keep, keep would generally be closed as a "keep" (the consensus changed to "keep"). -- King of ♠ 01:16, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah, okay, thanks for the advice. I've seen some AfDs go on like that, keep, keep, delete, delete, keep, delete, ect. If I do decide to close an AfD as "no consensus", I'll be sure there really is no consensus. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 01:19, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
According to Wikipedia:Deletion process#Non-administrators closing discussions, "Close calls and controversial or ambiguous decisions should be left to an administrator." Why not apply for adminship? You would be a good candidate. -- King of ♠ 01:22, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Logging off for now... King of ♠ 01:25, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Heh, that's a rain on my parade. XD Sorry for the delay, I was doing some AfD work. :P Anyway, I'm flattered that you think I would be a good candidate... yes, I would run, but I don't know if it would be anytime soon. I'm currently aiming for adminship over at the Simple English Wikipedia. I would like to be an administrator there and see how it feels first, since simple is much quieter and much less stressful than here. Everything else is basically explained here, here, here, and particularly here. -- RyRy (talk) 01:55, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

afd of Physician Champion edit

Hi

You deleted and redirected Physician Champion but you missed the two associated articles that were linked into the afd: Physician Champions and Physcian Champions. cheers. andy (talk) 10:14, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

electric cigarette machines edit

Hello: You deleted my entry "Electric Cigarette Machines" I am new to wikipedia and would like info on how to change that page to make it viable. It was tagged as reading like an advertisement yet I was careful to include-history of category, options, and explanation of all machines on market. What did I do wrong? Thank you for your help.Tobacco expert (talk) 13:05, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The tone of the article reads like an advertisement; you may wish to see WP:SOAP to get an idea of what is required of Wikipedia articles. I can restore the article and move it to a user subpage if you wish. You will be able to work on it from there. -- King of ♠ 01:01, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, yes please 76.237.6.230 (talk) 12:53, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have placed it at User:Tobacco expert/Electric Cigarette Machines. -- King of ♠ 19:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Newport Mooring Association Afd > Deleted edit

If notability of organization satisfactory to WP can be established in the future, will it be possible to roll this page back? Was it deleted without prejudice? I'll watch here for reply. Thanks. Newportm (talk) 14:54, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, through undeletion. However, for now, speculations of future notability cannot warrant an article. -- King of ♠ 01:03, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Q-Unit edit

Can you please e-mail the deleted Q-Unit article to me? --Cexycy (talk) 00:14, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, you do not have an email address stored on your Wikipedia account. You can add one at Special:Preferences. -- King of ♠ 01:05, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay I have confirmed my e-mail address so you should be able to see it. Please can you e-mail the article to me? Thanks. --Cexycy (talk) 00:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

  Done King of ♠ 17:18, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for that. Can I ask, why did you delete this article? What can be done to get it back? --Cexycy (talk) 23:58, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello! As with the similar discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Land Raider (Warhammer 40,000), is there any chance I can persuade you to keep the redirect, but undelete the edit history and perhaps protect if you feel the article should not be unredirected any time soon? Thanks! --Happy editing! Sincerely, Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 23:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tabil edit

The new assessment system has a needed tag for articles that have been requested for creation. If admins are going to delete out of hand those articles that have been tagged as being needed what is the purpose of having the assessment?

--Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 20:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

What is the tag called? (i.e. name of the template?) -- King of ♠ 20:34, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is an assessment category, "needed" like stub, start etc. |class=needed part of the Assessment 2.0 guidelines. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 20:42, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Would you please undo that so I can finish, st is really annoying when admins delete something when I am still in the process of working on it. I was notifying the Tunisian cuisine article for a request for assistenace and was just getting back to it to find you deleted it, I was going to add a definition. TY --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 20:38, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Done There does not seem to exist such a thing as "needed" class, however, and I can't seem to find any reference to Assessment 2.0. Anyways, I've restored it. King of ♠ 20:44, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Volapük Wikipedia AfD edit

Hi, King of Hearts. I'd like to make a request for you to review your no-consensus keep at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Volapük Wikipedia, as it seems to me that none of the keepers answered any of the concerns raised, or made any policy/guideline-supported arguments. Thank you, Miremare 17:38, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

However, many of the keep !votes were not addressed either, so no consensus appears suitable. -- King of ♠ 19:08, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Which ones do you mean? After all, the likes of "keep, it's notable" don't really need addressing. Miremare 02:43, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I second the above question. I personally addressed the otherstuffexists and the being/has been discussed internally keep votes (the first 3). Each other keep vote was directly replied to (both the it's big and the all wikis have article arguments). Personally, I'm just looking for somesort of clarity/understanding of the decision making as all the discussions which were based in policy were on the delete side. If it was a case of WP:IAR than so be it but, that should be stated in the closure. Jasynnash2 (talk) 10:30, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
You may take it to WP:DRV if you wish. -- King of ♠ 03:26, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

"The Pork" article deletion edit

Hello King,

Regarding a deleted article, "The Pork", which you stated is a non-notable student association. I am certain that WP doesn't require a student association to be national to be notable? This association is certainly notable for the hundreds of students involved with the group over the last 15+ years of its existence! I ask that you undelete and restore this article please. I have been traveling most of the summer, otherwise I would have sent a note prior to deletion. Thanks for the consideration... --Supermant (talk) 11:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have restored the article, which is now undergoing an Articles for deletion debate. You may comment on it if you wish, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Pork. -- King of ♠ 03:28, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Song edit

Hallo, I am from the german Wikipedia from the sociologic section, and I found out that you wrote a song text on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Song . We want to know the reason(s) why you wrote this song. It would be kind of you to leave an english (or german) comment on http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Wikipedistik/Soziologie/Musik&action=edit&redlink=1 . Thank you --84.166.123.219 (talk) 07:38, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Pork edit

Dear King,

Since another editor decided to Speedy delete the article you had just restored for me before 1) any meaningful debate took place 2) I had any time to weigh in personally or 3) I had an opportunity to make changes to the article to better meet lacking qualifications, please send me the Wiki code from "The Pork" article so that I may work on it offsite for a while. Thank you... --Supermant (talk) 12:18, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hard Justice edit

Hi, do you think you can protect Hard Justice (2008)? There have been alot of IPs removing content lately.--WillC 18:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gb has already done it. -- King of ♠ 20:23, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I saw that, he did it a little after I asked you. I've never placed anything up at Requests for protection and after I saw you protect SummerSlam (2008) I thought to just ask you. A friend placed it up at Requests for protection.--WillC 20:28, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please resend Q-Unit edit

I'm sorry, but I lost the e-mail you sent me of this article.

Please can you resend it? I will be very grateful. --Cexycy (talk) 00:34, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Instead, how about this: I've moved it to User:Cexycy/Q-Unit, a subpage of your user page. That way, you can work on it directly on Wikipedia and not worry about losing it. -- King of ♠ 19:55, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

List of circle topics edit

I just added Coaxal circles and Circle of antisimilitude to the List of circle topics. If you know of other articles that should be there and are not, could you add those? Thanks. Michael Hardy (talk) 03:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Q-Unit edit

Thanks for that.

What can I do to make this a more satisfactory article for inclusion on Wikipedia? --Cexycy (talk) 13:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, the topic does not seem to merit an article, as users have suggested in its AfD. If you do find that it meets the requirements under Wikipedia:MUSIC#Albums, however, then please be sure that you assert its notability in the article and back it up with reliable, third-party references. -- King of ♠ 18:46, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reopen Jens Kjær Sørensen edit

Further evidence...

As far as I am aware noone have linked the housing bubble (a few predicted such) to the credit crisis and stated that it would result in a recession.

Evidence that the Master Thesis from University of Copenhagen is correct.

http://borsen.dk/finans/nyhed/138441/ http://borsen.dk/finans/nyhed/138450/

I can even provide a statement from my professor at the University of Copenhagen.

If you want to have better information on wikipedia about this subject I suggest that you reopen the profile Jens Kjær Sørensen.

Per WP:AUTOBIO, you should not create articles on yourself. -- King of ♠ 01:04, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

What I wrote is in full compliance with the guidelines given on wikipedia. BTW its only strongly discouraged. At no place it states not allowed. I have referenced my thesis used a link, there are now 3 newspaperarticles and two more to come. Next step is a Swedish newspaper... Do you want clicks on your page or should they go to naymz, linkedin etc.? I wont write any more words on any subject before this neutral profile is reopened.

BR Jens —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jensks (talkcontribs) 11:20, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Strongly discouraged" means you shouldn't do it. For instance, editors are merely "expected," not "required," to remain civil. However, incivility can get you blocked. -- King of ♠ 17:29, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Many Lion edit

Is there anything that can be done about the vandalism that's bein' done from the same IP address? Could you please block them? That is the only article that I've seen the IP address edit/vandalize. Crash Underride 17:18, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, no. The same user uses multiple IPs to vandalize the article over several days. Although a range block is possible on 86.29.160.0/20, I can't block a range for more than a few hours, to avoid affecting innocent users. Remember that blocking is used to stop vandalism, not to punish the vandals; just revert any vandalism that appears. There are a lot of other articles that are vandalized far worse. -- King of ♠ 01:02, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
