Development of Google Street View edit

During the AfD for Google Street View coverage areas, the nom suggested that this article be renamed to Development of Google Street View. I like that idea. Can you please place the wikitext from that article in a new article with that title, or else in my userspace under the name User:Sebwite/DGSV? If you place it in an article, please place a {{construction}} tag at the top along with a hidden comment not to speedy delete it as a recreation of deleted material. I will then work on it from this point. If you place it in my userspace, I will create the article from that point. Sebwite (talk) 01:14, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for closing this AfD debate. You have deleted the main article, The Little Pigs and the Big Good Wolf, but I think you forgot to delete the second article, Big Good Wolf, which was also included in this AfD. Thanks, Cunard (talk) 16:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:RBK Logo.svg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:RBK Logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:15, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:HAU, Status, and you! edit

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:40, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Further to the above, I noticed you were using Misza's system before; if you prefer that you can make it HAU-compatible as explained here. In any case, I've cleared your |status=n flag. Let me know if you have any further questions. –xenocidic (talk) 15:17, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sheylanli tribe edit

Hi. I'd like to ask you about this discussion. 10 users showed with rational facts that the article is notable and there are enough reliable sources that describe the tribe exist and two users were oppose. As a result of the discussion no consensus is very surprising and honestly not believable. Please would you have a look at that discussion once again? Thank you. Gülməmməd Talk 04:10, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD is not a vote. There was a lot of discussion going on; many of the keeps and deletes were challenged, so overall a lengthy discussion without a clear consensus. Besides, the end result is the same: the article is kept. -- King of ♠ 21:58, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Motorola edit

Your entry on Motorola is entirely speculation, not a single word being supported with references.

I will continue to delete until references are provided.

Your insistence on including it is intellectual terrorism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.107.1.45 (talk) 16:00, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your QuiFriends edit

Ohai King of hearts. Doesn't it seems strange how you have me as your Qui friend? Not that I don't like you as a Qui friend, but you don't really know me very well... Or do you? :P Heh, heh. -- RyRy (talk) 00:20, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've seen you quite a bit on RC patrol, AFD, etc. -- King of ♠ 00:21, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see. Well, nice to meet you. :) -- RyRy (talk) 00:22, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reverting vandalism to 2008 Philadelphia Phillies season. I work hard to keep that page in tip-top shape during the season, and I appreciate it when others help out. I really like your sig too. Thanks again! KV5Squawk boxFight on! 00:47, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

RFA thankspam edit

Thanks for your support in my RFA, which passed with 140 supporting, 11 opposing, and 4 neutral. I will do my best to live up to the trust that you have given to me. If I can ever assist you with anything, just ask.

Cheers!

Simon Thomas (footballer) edit

No problem with the outcome of the afd, however seeing that the new season is due to start in 10 days will you be taking the responsibility to restore the material, were he to make his debut at that earliest opportunity.Londo06 16:08, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deletion review for Simon Thomas (footballer) edit

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Simon Thomas (footballer). Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Nfitz (talk) 17:47, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copper metal edit

Hi King of Hearts,

I did a pretty extensive rewrite of metallic bonding and saw your picture of copper metal there. First of all thanks for making that pic, I think it is a good -actually imperative- addition to the story. Unfortunately you happened to take a rather unfortunate example. Even as a atom in vapor copper is known to have a full set of 10 d-electrons and only one s-electron and in the metal it is that one s-electron is the one on the move. That has been shown with XPS e.g. In other words it is really Cu1+ + e-, not Cu2+ + 2e-. In fact the latter you can only get copper to do if you hit is with a pretty strong oxidizing agent like fluorine, oxygen or chlorine. Bromine is already borderline and iodine sulfur, selenium etc only give you monovalent copper (even in things like CuS!). Could you change your pic? If you're too busy I'd do it too. (I have a reason: need to teach my ~300 freshies this fall. Tnx Jcwf (talk) 20:14, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I currently don't have access to Inkscape. It'll be easy to change it though, so go ahead. -- King of ♠ 20:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK I'll just make it Zn I think, that'll do the trick.

David DeJonge edit

Hi - you've closed the AfD for this as delete, but deleted only a redirect, I think. The main article is still there. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David dejonge. Ros0709 (talk) 20:17, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it's been handled by Hoary. -- King of ♠ 06:55, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

MfD edit

For future reference, we don't uncomment the backlog tag whilst only closing one MfD. Regards Synergy 11:09, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

But there simply isn't a backlog. -- King of ♠ 23:28, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Technically there was. There was still one mfd left open in that specific, and another days worth. Synergy 10:40, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Heaven Underground edit

Don't worry about having missed the release date. The article didn't actually say it and none of the people at the AfD did either. Sorry if my comment was a bit harsh, too. Cheers. lifebaka (talk - contribs) 11:32, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello. It wasn't a point of view, it was fact. I use an HP and love it, but still, those claims are true, and were proven true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.102.118.231 (talk) 00:14, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you wish to add those claims, you must say who makes those claims and cite them with references. -- King of ♠ 00:17, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Larry Johnson (bioethics activist) edit

To be fair to the IP, they may not have used an edit summary, but all the information removed was uncited, and they did post to the talk page that they thought they were removing questionable material. --OnoremDil 00:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll allow them to redo the edit as they see fit. -- King of ♠ 00:42, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Octopus edit

The plural of Octopus is Octopi. This is common knowledge. Why is this wikipedia article trying to degrade the English language by suggesting otherwise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.155.44 (talk) 01:17, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Linguistically, Latin words such as alumnus have plural forms ending in -i (alumni), but octopus is derived from Greek. -- King of ♠ 01:19, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cactus is also from greek. However, the plural of Cactus is Cacti, unless you enjoy being stupid. It's also worth noting that in the article for "cactus" the article uses the plural "cacti". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.155.44 (talk) 01:22, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Read the article before jumping to conclusions. It says that although "cacti" is most commonly used, it is etymologically inappropriate. -- King of ♠ 20:07, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Erech-Uruk Merge edit

Easy, tiger. You really should wait five minutes before reverting and sending off accusations of vandalism. That will allow a good-faith editor to complete what they're doing. There's been an announcement to merge in the article that hasn't been responded to. Us casual users rely on editors like you to keep Wikipedia clean, but don't abuse the power, count to ten and wait until you know an edit really is vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.7.132.71 (talk) 01:40, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
