AFD Bot

I think your AFD Bot is running slightly off time. Just a few minutes ago, at only 23:53, it auto-updated AFD instead of at 0:00. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 23:57, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

That's intentional. There are several scripts that the bot operates at the same time, and I don't want the server to block any of the bot's requests so I intentionally update the AFD page first. So for about 7 minutes, the page is redlinked. --AllyUnion (talk) 08:23, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Speedy keep?

Hey, you just closed this discussion: [1]. According to Wikipedia:Speedy_keep, this can only happen "ONLY if one of the following holds:

1. • the nominator withdraws the AFD and there have been no votes to delete so far
   • the nominator clearly states that s/he actually wants the article renamed, merged, moved or redirected, rather than deleted, and the AFD has not yet received any valid delete votes
   • the nomination was clear-cut vandalism or WP:POINT and nobody disputes this or votes to delete it anyway (since calling a nomination vandalistic does not make it so and actual POINT-making AFD nominations appear far less frequently than accusations thereof)."

re:Semi-Protection of George W. Bush

Firstly, I felt that having code at the top of the page was unproductive, and it was not my descision to have the box and image removed, I merely coppied them. I now see that this was coppied from another template {{Sp-semiprotected}}, and that my template should likely be deleted. Popups installation

Two things:

1. It's User:King of Hearts/monobook.js, not User:King of Hearts/Monobook.js. I suspect that neither file was deleted, but you just got confused between them.
2. Don't use + signs before options. This will cause a javascript error which probably stops the script from executing. In other words, change this:

             + popupFixRedirs=true;
             + popupFixDabs=true;
             + popupLastEditLink=false;

to this:

popupFixRedirs=true;
popupFixDabs=true;
popupLastEditLink=false;

Re Reverting vandalism

Actually it's a script. This one [2]. It doesn't work with popups though. It will add a "rollback" button on the diff page. Alternatively you can copy everything from this page [3] and you can modify it.

Well, from what I know the script doesn't work right with IE (at least for me), as you will see the "script error" at the status bar while trying to preform a rollback. Sorry but I don't know anything other than that. --Ichiro (山本一郎) 00:28, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

OK, you say the reason for deletion is that it is "vanity about a non-notable band". This leaves the question, who determines this—and how? Can you specifically say why you believe Polkacide is non-notable? I'd say, judging by the other articles here (such as tons of articles about fictional characters in questionably-important works like The Simpsons, etc.) that this band is a lot more "notable".

I am familiar with the band, though not a member, friend or fan, and I believe that they are significant at least within their region (S.F. Bay Area) and therefore worthy of mention here.

I accuse you of being entirely too overzealous in posting requests for deletion (apropos the Polkacide article). The following is copied from that article's talk page:

Along with the recent assertions of non-non-notability made by PJM, let me add one more: Polkacide was featured on a segment of NPR's All Things Considered (link here).

To be honest, it does piss me off a bit, because those who absolutely leapt to move to delete this article could have done the same research (I provided the link to the band's website, which contains this link). I believe this overzealous requesting deletion is actually against the general sense of Wikipedia's rules, if not the letter. It was literally within less than 5 minutes after I created this article that the rfd "tag" appeared on it. No mention on any talk pages. How many entries?

Can the number of entires in google really be used to determine notability of a subject? And if so, what number is the "threshold" to be crossed in order to be a notable article? 100? 500? Who determines this number? Thanks for all of your help, this is very interesting to me as this is the first time I've seen a page deleted due to "lack of" more than 70 google entries through a search. I whole-heartedly agree that albums should be discussed in the internet pretty often (on a side note: "should be" doesn't mean "will be."). No offense to your perspective or thoughts on the subject but, again, how often is "pretty often." No doubt Cypress Hill or Hillary Duff albums will have more hits than an underground punk compilation album. In my eyes that does not make the mainstream album any more notable than the underground album. Also...I could probably see more of your perspective if it was less than 20 hits, or 10. But 69?
