Hi, I am not sure if you had noticed, but comments were recently left for the peer reviews of Kirkcaldy and Dysart, Fife. I'm would like to see about fixing the page number problems in Kirkcaldy. You don't suppose you could tell me which page numbers correspond to which citation for the books by the Kirkcaldy Civic Society. Something I noticed that might save you some typing......You don't need to add access dates ("Retrieved on et cetera, et cetera") to books or any material not on the internet. A book won't change like a website does. The exemption to this is if the book is on internet (i.e. through Google Books) and it is linked in the citation, then an access date is needed. --​​​​D.B.^{talk•contribs} 23:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Kirkcaldy work

The citations look good, I formatted a lot of with Citation templates and combined the citations that are same. There are still some small problems that need fixing. There are two books by Eunson, both were written in 1998 and there is no way to tell which book the citations came from. There is no full citation in the References section for the citations from Omand, McKay, and the Wemyss Environmental Centre. The Civic Society's Famous Folks books still have multiple pages (this isn't a problem if the info that is cited is found all the pages listed). Clarifications is needed for the Historic Kirkcaldy citations (the citations say "Torrie and Coleman", but the full reference says "Torman and Colman".)

I wouldn't start another peer review, I'd just keep working at the article and then submit to GAC when its ready, but you can do what you want. --​​​​D.B.^{talk•contribs} 15:21, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

Kirkcaldy citations; broken ref

I have some of the books you have used for references in Kirkcaldy but you've added such an impressive number that it would take me a long time to check them all against the text of the article at the rate I'm able to go. Plus there are many of the titles which I don't have. You rightly say that you're in the best position to check them since you have copies of the texts. Now that you've largely finished actually adding in a mass of new material to the article, it would be great if you can go back and double check your text against the citations to make sure that the latter is accurately reflected in the former. There is some way to go but we'll get there.

While you're combing through, have a look out for the way you've phrased some of the sentences as well as I spotted a few that either seemed a bit clumsy in their expression or were a bit difficult to understand.

By the way, I spotted that the ref you added in your last Kirkcaldy edit isn't formatted correctly and isn't displaying properly. It looks like it's incomplete and has some syntax errors. looks like an idle boast

Adding sentences like "Kirkcaldy is home to one of Scotland's most treasured art gallery and museums." adds nothing to the article. If you can cite this as a quote from a notable and unbiased source it may - arguably - be worth adding but as a statement of your own it actively detracts from the article as it looks like an idle boast from someone talking up their home town in a partisan way. Let the facts talk for themselves and the article has more credibility.

Incidentally the term "is home to", particularly its frequent repetition, looks a bit hackneyed. Mutt Lunker (talk) 20:32, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Please use categories when you upload an image

When you upload an image, whether to Wikipedia or to the Commons, please include one or more categories with it, such as Category:Kirkcaldy or Category:Railway stations in Worcestershire.
