Please add Jacob Jardine[1] to the List of kidnappings. There is more information about it here: Jacob Jardine. Davidgoodheart (talk) 21:18, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
Do you really think it is worthy of inclusion, Davidgoodheart? Seems to me the thief may not have even realized (or cared) that there was a toddler in the car; he or she stole the vehicle.--Kieronoldham (talk) 21:41, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
Don't add it then. Please add some sources to Bardhyl Çaushi. Davidgoodheart (talk) 21:45, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Please add V. Balakumaran (Tamil activist)[3] to the List of people who disappeared. Davidgoodheart (talk) 14:50, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
Does he belong on that list? According to this 2003 article he was openly engaging in press conferences at the LTTE Jaffna district political office. He died in around 2018.--Kieronoldham (talk) 03:28, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
Very well then as he need to be be added to any disappeared list. I have had a very up and down day as I have had things catch me offgaurd and will need time to re-focus before I do some more editing. Davidgoodheart (talk) 02:32, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
Sorry to hear that, Davidgoodheart. I just can't see any text indicating the individual (whom I'm obviously unfamiliar with) having been "missing" in his lifetime.--Kieronoldham (talk) 03:10, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

Serial killers

Hello K and thanks for your contributions. I have a feeling you have been reading as much as you can hence your edits. I’ve been trying to figure out what really goes on in the mind of a serial killer, what makes them commit the atrocities they did, but I guess it’s still an ongoing question for many experts. But tell me this, what interests you plenty in JWD to make you contribute your edits? SallySwift (talk) 17:58, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi, SallySwift. Nice to hear from you. Thanks for your message. Aye I have researched a lot about each of the cases I have populated over the years (I usually purchase literature about the cases I do not already own a copy of in advance before focusing on an article). I find the task of populating Wikipedia rewarding, and wish - certainly with regards to the topic of true crime - to make it the number one source of Internet information. As for the topic itself, penetrating the criminal mind has always been fascinating to me. Some of the cases are lacerating to the psyche, but I compartmentalize the raw reality.
As for your question as to what goes on in the mind of a serial killer, I am not a certified expert (obviously), but there are some common traits in offenders (I am not talking about the likes of head injuries as a child), but physical and environmental factors are almost unique.

Gacy's case has always fascinated me more than most others. I have easily spent 150+ hours researching and improving the article over the years. His childhood, social persona, and willingness to give so much time and effort to society, deriving to a degree from a yearning for acceptance and kudos among others, along with his desire to help those in need, contrasting with his criminal activities are what primarily fascinate me about Gacy's case. Like some other gay killers, he was in denial about his sexuality (one of the things he asked for following his arrest was a copy of Playboy). He justified his crimes by contrasting his victims' lifestyles (correctly in some instances; incorrectly in many others) and achievements by comparison to his own. The verbal and emotional abuse he subjected them to throughout their rape and torture was him justifying his sexually assaulting them as something other, in his mind, than his sexual attraction to them.

One of the prosecutors said at his trial Gacy was "so good, and yet so bad." Nice to chat with you. Key.--Kieronoldham (talk) 19:42, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Continuation

Wow. More than an easy 150 hours researching him! Didn’t he come up in your nightmares?

Sorry I’m not a Wikipedian, I just came on to comment about your edits so I’m not sure how this talk thing works.

Quite frankly I was not too familiar with him, I am more horrified yet intrigued by Dahmer. I was watching Inside the Criminal Mind on Netflix last night and as such started reading on Wikipedia. Your analysis on JWG is interesting, I will research him more. I’m also interested in the fact that documentaries focus on American serial killers in specific as opposed to other heinous crimes committed by some from Asia, Africa, et al.

Nice chatting to you too. SallySwift (talk) 20:38, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
