Deepstorm.ru edit

Why do you think this is RS? Some of the pages that I've looked at refer to webpages and manuscripts, which isn't a good sign, despite the other authoritative sources. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 00:51, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Sturmvogel 66 Surprisingly large number of secondary sources use its sub history pages as a reference, Budzbon mentions the site, details are incredibly banal and routine - no exceptional claims. That's more than can be said for most sites on the runet which often are just copied from wikipedia. Specifically for the submarine K-85, the fact that the deepstorm page includes information from a hard to find issue of the out of print authoritative journal Taifun (which is only available at the Library of Congress in the USA) speaks to the level of research done by the author. Furthermore, any post-WWII Soviet military history, especially relating to the Soviet Navy, is going to be limited in sourcing because so much is either still classified or archives are difficult to access. So a lot of published information is by default reliant on the accounts of veterans. Even when I tried to find career details for Kresta II-class cruisers a lot of information was minimal, and there's a lot more detail in deepstorm IMO than there would be on most Soviet Cold War destroyers. What Russian sources are Hampshire and Vilches Alarcón drawing on? Kges1901 (talk) 02:37, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Vilches Alarcón used only English-language sources, but Hampshire used a lot of Russian-language sources. I know what you're saying, but those manuscripts, etc. could fail WP:V as they may be inaccessible unless in a public library or something. And I've seen articles by the site owner, do you know if they've been published somewhere that's an RS? At any rate, K-85 just got an experienced reviewer, so we'll have to see what he thinks.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 14:27, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • @Buckshot06:, Unfortunately not - not many copies were printed and they are expensive, but there are copies in the US at Library of Congress and a few other university libraries. Kges1901 (talk) 10:12, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, how can I find these source? edit

Hi,
On Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Is warheroes.ru a reliable source? you said

I have cross-checked the profiles on the site with primary source documents and the cited sources when I could access them and can confirm that the profiles match the sources.

I'm just curious about how to find source about these contents. We tried hard on google but seemed failed. Is there any site for further fact-check? -Lemonaka‎ 03:04, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

There is no single site, but I have acquired copies of some of the books listed in the sources sections of the profiles. Kges1901 (talk) 03:16, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
