WOC and 28th Army edit

Many thanks for your continuing hard work, especially with the HSUs. In accordance with WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME, we should probably go ahead and merge the 28th Army into the WOC(B) article. Do you wish to do that or shall I? Buckshot06 (talk) 03:49, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • 28th Army had three formations, but only the third has a connection to the WOC. I don't know what the current practice is in dealing with this issue of multiple formations with the same name. Kges1901 (talk) 08:31, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • Take a look at 20th Guards Motor Rifle Division (merged), or 65th Army and North Western Operational Command (not merged). Basically I've been the one setting the standards, and they're not all aligned fully, because there are so many Soviet formations. Buckshot06 (talk) 05:33, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • So what is your recommendation for cases like this? IMO, 65th Army should really be merged with NWOC, given that the 65th Army had only one formation, and that article does not even cover the army's postwar service. Kges1901 (talk) 07:46, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
      • Suggest we do yes merge 65A and NWOC. What would be your opinion on 28A and WOC? Buckshot06 (talk) 03:43, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • IMO we should not merge 28th Army and WOC because it would give the impression that all 3 formations of the 28th Army have lineage connection to WOC. Kges1901 (talk) 18:11, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • OK, we can do it that way. Does make some sense since the Soviets did make quite clear their First Formation / Second Formation / Third Formation distinctions etc. Buckshot06 (talk) 03:43, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
