Joint vs Unified edit

Everybody in the world can translate words directly as they come across, but in translating of the sense of the meaning, which may have a specifically military meaning, I would greater trust the specialists at CSRC rather than some Belarusian person who may not know technical military English well. The root of the problem here of course is that the centre is *not* a Joint formation in any English-language military sense, but a single-service, land forces/army formation. The potential for confusion is severe. This is why I would much prefer to go with the CSRC translation. Buckshot06 (talk) 09:16, 4 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hmm. Half of what I said above is wrong - it does train Air and Air Defence Force personnel, so it could be considered 'Joint', but Dr Main still went with 'Unified' rather than joint. Depends on the word's meaning, and I've seen paragraphs written on trying to interpret words' meaning in these kind of discussions. But as it is 'Joint' in the sense of multi-service you'll get no further argument from me for now. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 09:23, 4 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

4th Mech Bde (Kazakhstan) edit

Thanks for this, and the other HSU and formation articles you've been doing. Where did the information about the 511th Motor Rifle Regiment in 1993 come from? It's not in Holm. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 21:40, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • The information is on the Russian wikipedia. Kges1901 (talk) 21:41, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Pavel Lagutin edit

Hello. I've uploaded a portrait photo of Pavel Lagutin for the 293rd Rifle Div. article. The file is: File:Major_General_Pavel_Lagutin_ca._1943-44.jpg, if you wish to add it to your article. Thanks for your input to the 293rd page.Wreck Smurfy (talk) 03:34, 14 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

this edit edit

Hi Kges1901, sorry, I've just reverted this edit. That page is 195,000 bytes - it's huge. The data there, I hope, is only for when we don't have an article on the actual division. If we do have an article, only the formation and disbandment dates should really be there. It's OK "for the moment" to have such a huge page, but if we can reduce it as we create articles that would be better. Hope I've made myself clear. Thanks for all your hard work on the World War II divisions and HSUs. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 05:17, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all your hard work on all the fighter regiments. If you're specifically interested in Korea, you could always translate the 64 IAK (ru:64-й истребительный авиационный корпус) article that's on Ruwiki. Buckshot06 (talk) 05:11, 18 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
