Please don't delete my comment from the Johann Bessler talk page
editPlease stop removing my comment from Talk:Johann Bessler. Even if you disagree with it, you're not allowed to just remove what I wrote there, as you've done now three times. If you persist in doing this I'll have to take the matter up with the Wikipedia's arbitration. I also suggest familiarizing yourself with Wikipedia policies against original research, against conflict of interest, about reliable sources, and on self-published sources. Long story short, you're not allowed to promote your own self-published research using Wikipedia as a platform. - Eb.hoop2 (talk) 19:53, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- I politely urge you to reconsider your current course. Wikipedia isn't a forum for promoting new research or original results, only for summarizing facts that can be uncontroversially verified through other sources. The rules are that you can't use Wikipedia as a platform for your own controversial claims. Arbitration is the last resort, but if you persist in removing my comments in the talk page, and/or promoting your self-published research in the article, I'll take up the matter in the Dispute resolution noticeboard. - Eb.hoop2 (talk) 22:16, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Ken Behrendt, editors should not remove other editors comments without good reason (See the talk page guidelines). If you disagree with Eb.hoop2's comment, then the best course of action is to reply to their comment explaining why you disagree with them. This allows both sides of the argument to be heard, and also debated.
Furthermore, I will address your comments on User talk:Eb.hoop2. You shouldn't add sources you made to Wikipedia, because you as the source's creator will have a conflict of interest on that source. You say yourself that I did publish a volume back in February of this year that provides one of the most extensive and well documented analyses ever done of Bessler's life and inventions
. Without proof that the source you made is reliable, it shouldn't be used. Furthermore, per our conflict of interest guideline COI editors should not edit affected articles directly, but should propose changes on article talk pages instead
. Therefore, I highly recommend that you suggest on the talk page that the source should be added. If other editors agree, then your source can be used. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 23:27, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Also, if an editor disagrees with your edits, the best way to deal with that situation is to use the talk page of the article to discuss the edits you made. This allows you to present an argument why your edits are acceptable and for the other editor to explain why they don't think they are acceptable. Furthermore, if through the discussion it is decided that the edits you made were acceptable, then it allows you to make said edits without them being contested / reverted further. editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Talk:Johann Bessler. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Sources and COIN
editI reverted your addition of the material sourced by Youtube. For one, we do not use Youtube as a source. See WP:RS. You could add it back but I imagine that would lead to you being blocked shortly for edit warring. the better thing would be to explain what it is you are doing, at the COIN discussion linked above.
