"Women are everywhere" edit

Hi KellyDoyle. I'm an editor of the Italian Wikipedia. I'm trying to participate to an IEG with the project "Women are everywhere". You will find the draft at this link https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Women_are_everywhere It would be great if you could have a look at it. I need any kind of suggestion or advice to improve it. Support or endorsement would be fantastic. Many thanks,--Kenzia (talk) 14:26, 3 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Digital Anthropology research edit

Hello KellyDoyle, My name is Stephanie Barker and I am a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently enrolled in a Digital Anthropology class, which attempts to answer how the digital world affects culture and how culture affects the digital world. For my final project I am doing an ethnography on women Wikipedia users and as a member of the WikiProject Women page I was hoping I could ask you some questions about your experiences editing Wikipedia pages. 1. Have you ever been locked into an intense editing war? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 2. How did you become interested in editing Wikipedia pages and did you have any initial fears/hesitations when you started editing pages? 3. Have you ever been a victim of a mass deletion or other vandalism on Wikipedia? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 4. How would you describe your gender? 5. Is there anything else you would like to share with me about your experiences as a Wikipedia editor? I would like you to know that I am only sharing my research with my professor and the other students in my class. If you would like me to send you a copy of my final project, I would be more than happy to! Sincerely, Stelba90 (talk) 01:07, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedian in Residence BoF at Wikimania 2017 edit

Hello!

My name is David Alves (User:Horadrim~usurped), and I'm an Wikipedian in Residence at RIDC NeuroMat (User:Horadrim). I've reach your contact through the Wikimedian in residence page in Outreach. As you may know, Wikimania 2017 is coming! I am here because, as a fellow WiR, I believe this would be a great opportunity for us to share experiences, discuss difficulties and exchange solutions, creating a community among us capable of supporting in other projects that would benefit from residents. In that sense, I have submitted a proposal of a Birds of a Feather activity to Wikimania that you can check out here. I hope to count with your support in this project and would like to invite you to join us if you participate in Wikimania. In case of any doubts, please feel free to contact me, either in my talk pages or by e-mail at david.alves outlook.com.

Thank you very much! ‎Horadrim~usurped (talk) 00:33, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi David - thank you for reaching out! I would love to be involved in this discussion at Wikimania - I think it's a great idea to bring some past and present Wikipedians in Residence together and share ideas and best practices. I especially think this would help create a sense of community for Wikipedians in Residence. Looking forward to this and meeting you in Montreal! KellyDoyle (talk) 12:46, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please support the Sustainability Initiative! edit

Please support the Sustainability Initiative!

Hi, KellyDoyle! Please allow me to follow up on a project that was discussed at the Wikimedia Conference in Berlin a couple of weeks ago:

I am writing you to ask for your support for the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 250 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.

The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has recently passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Now, we are working with the Wikimedia Foundation staff to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.

In order to demonstrate that this is an issue that the community really cares about, I would like to ask you to sign the project page as well. Thank you! --Gnom (talk) 16:03, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Behn/Burney Society 2017 Conference Edit-a-thon edit

A tag has been placed on Behn/Burney Society 2017 Conference Edit-a-thon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Home Lander (talk) 00:18, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the above boiler message; I just tagged the redirect for deletion and didn't think about the fact that Twinkle would add this. Home Lander (talk) 00:20, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Account creator change edit

Hi, I'm just letting you know that I have removed the account creator permission from your account. The English Wikipedia has recently created a new user group, event coordinator, and editors who need to create accounts for outreach events are being migrated to it from the account creator permission. If you need the permission to create accounts in the future for an event, you can request it at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Event coordinator a few days before the event is slated to begin. Focus list for the American Women's History Initiative edit

I'm wondering whether the American Women's History Initiative has a WikiProject list. The reason I ask is that if I come across women that are linked to the Smithsonian I'd like to add this property to Wikidata. See for example this woman Josephine Mason Milligan. Disambiguation link notification for August 14 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Maria de Lopez, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pasadena High School. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Edit-a-thon Draft for JuJu Harris submitted edit

Hi Kelly, I participated in the Wiki Focus: Black Women in Food History 2.0 edit-a-thon. I've done a little bit of Wikipedia editing, but I'm still a bit unsteady about how to move things from Draft space. I drafted and tried to submit the article for Juliet "JuJu" Harris. Jaireeodell (talk) 21:32, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@KellyDoyle It looks like someone decided that the subject was not notable. I don't agree. I've seen plenty of entries for little known musicians, why would a different standard be applied to a cookbook author and community activist? Anyway, if you have any suggestions for the entry--additional sources or next steps, I'd be happy to try. See: Draft:Juliet "JuJu" Harris. Thanks and sorry. -- Jaireeodell (talk) 23:44, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Volunteer copy-editing global wikis edit

Hi Mrs Kelly!-we became acquainted at the coffee shop on James Island where I inquired about your sxsw'23 presentation. Having learned you're familiar with editing wiki pages and that process, I wondered if you might give me some pointers as a beginner and me having a software-/technologist background. I am considering Wikimedia's role in shaping linked data on the web considering how expansive its reach is and the fact that much structured data can be extrapolated from its kin projects(ie Wiktionary).

This in mind, specifically I'm trying to edit some pages in the French Wiktionary subdomain but the edits keep getting kicked back.

My question is: do you describe the copy editing process during your outreach efforts to garner accepted Wikipedia edits/editors?

Care to consider an example edit I made, in reference to responding to this?

I'm so glad your role has contributed so many edits for woman at the Smithsonian and raising awareness for said cause.

Thanks
