Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, KeithHaynes63. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Keith Haynes (musician), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 01:04, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, no COI. Set up this account to request deletion of non notable pages. Thanks for the info. KeithHaynes63 (talk) 01:07, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletions

edit

You have now twice restored a proposed deletion ("PROD") to the article Picture Frame Seduction after it had been removed. Proposed deletion is intended only for completely uncontroversial deletions, and if an editor removes the proposal, indicating that they disagree with it, then clearly the proposal is not uncontroversial. Therefore the deletion policy does not allow a PROD to be restored if it has been removed. If you still wish to seek deletion of the article then you need to take it to a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. JBW (talk) 13:16, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Apologies I thought I was doing it correctly. I’ll read the AFD page again. KeithHaynes63 (talk) 20:34, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
One of the things which makes Wikipedia editing confusing for new editors is the range of different deletion processes, with different rules for each kind. For example, an editor is not allowed to remove a speedy deletion tag from a page they created, but they are allowed to remove a PROD from a page they created; a PROD may not be restored once it has been removed, but a PRODBLP may be restored unless a reliable source has been provided; and so on and so on... I don't blame you for getting it wrong.
If you do decide to start an "Articles for creation" (AfD) discussion, don't do it by the method described in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, because that is hopelessly confusing. When I started doing it, many years ago, I frequently made a mess of it. Eventually, after quite a long time, I found that there's a very easy way to avoid all the problems, which is to enable Twinkle. If you haven't already done so, I strongly recommend enabling it on your account, as it helps with many things, not just deletion discussions. You can enable it in the "Gadgets" tab of your preferences. Once you have enabled it, various links will appear at the top of the page, including one labelled "xfd", which opens a dialog to start a deletion discussion for the page you are on. That's about 100 times easier than doing it by the method given in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. JBW (talk) 20:58, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you that helps a lot KeithHaynes63 (talk) 21:55, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
