Welcome

edit

Hello. Welcome to Wikipedia. Kees Christiaanse's history still needs to be covered in the article, but perhaps you have sources indicating a change in his relationship with ASTOC so it can be clarified in the article? Please let me know if I can be of any assistance. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:27, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello, many thanks. It took me some time to find out more about the ASTOC issue. I spoke to Kees today and he explained me that he was a co-founder and partner at ASTOC from 1990 till 2002 when he became the Chair of Architecture and Urbanism in the Institute for Urban Design at the ETH in Zürich and moved to Switzerland. Then he opened the Swiss branch of his KCAP Architects&Planners in Zürich and since then he works on his German projects from there and not as the partner of ASTOC anymore. There was no official report about the fact that they split-up tho. I found the user Drmies you were talking about and will start a new talk. Thanks alot for all your help :) (Kcap wiki (talk) 15:17, 15 March 2010 (UTC)).Reply

Hi Kcap, I made a small edit to the article (the kind of edit you could have made too), and more can be done if needs be. BTW, I am not so much "the editor," even if I saw fit to revert your earlier edit--there is no ownership of articles, or there shouldn't be anyway. You see, the problem with your earlier edit was that it removed material, and sourced material to boot; that raises eyebrows and red flags. I'd love to see something that verifies the 2002 information, of course, even a document from ASTOC itself, but I think we're good in the meantime. We try to be especially careful in the case of biographies of living people, and so I wouldn't say anything like "he got fired in 2002" or "they left on bad terms" without verification--I tried to phrase it in a neutral manner, to allay any concerns and not imply anything negative (and of course I have no idea or suspicion that anything bad happened). Oh, in regards to the caption for Vexierbild, I've changed the caption as well, after another look at this page; thank you for that correction.

Please let me know if there's anything else. And if you do talk to Christiaanse one of these days, please tell him that I am a great admirer of his work and eternally jealous that he chose Rotterdam over Amsterdam as a main building site. If he ever wants to come to Montgomery, Alabama, and show us how it's done, I'd appreciate it. Regards, Drmies (talk) 16:56, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello Drmies, thanks for your quick answer and help. I totally agree that deleting of existing information "just like that" might have caused confusion, sorry for that, it was caused by my lack of understanding for Wikipedia editing issues. I also added the information about the end of Kees' partnership at ASTOC to the first caption of the article.

Many thanks also for showing your admiration for Kees' work, it's really nice of you. I will pass it on to him by the next occasion (he is mostly in Zürich these days, but comes also to Rotterdam from time to time). Me myself, after living in Munich for 3 years, came to Rotterdam 5 months ago to work at KCAP and really enjoy it! It's also really great fun to discover new things about the Netherlands everyday. I assume you come from Amsterdam? To be honest I still don't have a fixed point of view regarding that eternal competition between Amsterdam and Rotterdam ;) Both are still fresh and fascinating to me. Greetings from Rotterdam to Montgomery!(Kcap wiki (talk) 09:09, 16 March 2010 (UTC)).Reply
