This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Katy Loves Hamas, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

No, something not related to Katy or anything she loves, please -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:25, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and having had a look at your (reverted) contributions, I expect you'll need to convince an unblocking admin that you will not use this account in any way to pursue a vendetta against the Katy in question and will not make any edits that conflict with our WP:BLP policy -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:28, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK, that's an acceptable username but you still didn't make the assurances requested above. — Daniel Case (talk) 20:14, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Please read the first block notice: "Your username is the only reason for this block." if there is any part of that sentence that is unclear, perhaps you can discuss it with User:CharlieEchoTango

Decline reason:

Just because that's what's listed in the automatic template doesn't mean that admins cannot review other issues. Alternatively, we could unblock you, change your name, and then reblock you for the WP:BLP violation, along with the strong implication that you intend to continue such disruptive work if unblocked, especially since your first choice of name was so clearly in bad fiath. So, one way or the other, you need to address this. Perhaps a better way of doing it is for you to explain what you would like to do on Wikipedia if unblocked that is in compliance with our policies and guidelines. Request reason:

There was no BLP violation, nor any disruption. I am willing to be unblocked, change my name, and them if you think there was any edit of mine that violated policy , block me for that. I encourage you to look carefully at my edits prior to the block to realize that if you block me for them, it will likely be overturned. I would like to edit in compliance with our policies and guidelines, which is what I did prior to this block. I have no vendetta against any Katy.

Decline reason:

You should re-read our BLP policy, especially the "Writing Style" section. BLP-related information can be true and sourced and still not belong in an article due to tone or lack of relevance. Your additions to the article, taken in conjunction with your username and overall contribution history, strongly indicate that you intend to focus unduly on the issue of the Hamas meeting, in violated of our BLP policy. You need to explain to us what other, non-BLP-problematic editing you plan to carry out if we unblock you, because your current editing pattern is not appropriate. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! The *only* edits you have made were about someone called Katy and her interaction with Hamas, and they were reverted - and comparing them with your username, I hope you'll understand why we need to be cautious here. Here's another suggestion - how about telling us what you plan to write about if you are unblocked? -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:54, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

No, that's not quite accurate. The edits I made were about an organization, J Street, and an incident in which one of its board members, named Kathleen, met with Hamas despite being advised by the organization president not to do so, and the criticism of J Street that this incident drew. All of this was sourced to news outlets such as The Forward, The Washington Jewish Week and Commentary, and to J Street's own web site commenting on the controversy. None of the facts related to Kathleen are in dispute, by her or anyone else. She wrote openly about her meetings with Hamas, in the Forward. What policy does this edit violate?
