Psi Chi
editI wanted to let you know that I edited the distinguished members section of the article. It was closely paraphrased from the source, which poses a copyright violation. It can also be seen as posing a plagiarism issue, however I don't think that this was intentional plagiarism per se - rather I got the impression that you didn't know how else to portray the info.
What I've done is change the paragraph to a list of the alumni/distinguished members. I've also moved it down the article, per style conventions on Wikipedia since this is typically going to be of less importance in the article than general info about the organization.
I'm also concerned that there is a lot of content that would be considered "marketing fluff". By this I mean that the content is written in a way that, while not seeming obviously promotional, still comes across as fairly favorable and promotional. An example here would be the mission and purpose section:
- Psi Chi fosters excellence in the academia of its members in all fields relevant to psychology and its scientific applications. As psychology is a discipline across human experience, Psi Chi further puts utmost importance in social justice, allowing diversity and inclusion in the practice of psychology including education, training, and research. The promotion of social justice allows for members of Psi Chi to open themselves up to multitudes of perspectives and support various groups of people from the majority groups to marginalized groups.
This is more along the lines of marketing speak and in many cases it's actually better to avoid mission statements since they're seen as vague and don't really give a lot of information about what the organization does. Information about what an organization would do and their projects are also things that would be better suited in the history and projects section, which would make a mission and purpose section unnecessary.
I recommend reviewing the article on Kappa Kappa Psi, to get an idea of layout and what should be in a Greek organization article. It's of Featured Article quality, meaning that it's one of the best of the best articles on Wikipedia. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:17, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
