September 2016 edit

Hello, I'm MelbourneStar. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Atsumi Peninsula, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. —MelbourneStartalk 08:18, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for letting me know, sir. I noted on the editorial summary that it was a translation from the Japanese version of "Atsumi Peninsula," the majority of which I compiled by myself. In that page, I added sufficient sources, but it seems like the translation page needs more clarification. Thanks. --Kapibaramushi (talk) 23:38, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Atsumi Peninsula, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Wikipedia, of whatever language it's from, is not a reliable source and must never be used as such.MelbourneStartalk 04:25, 8 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I am continuing the WP:Pages needing translation discussion here, because the translation itself is not the problem. You say that you have tried to fix the problem by citing "original sources exactly same as the ones I did on the Japanese page, even though they're not likely to be understood by English-speaking users", but that is not evident from your mere reversion of Atsumi Peninsula. I suggest that you add your translation again. However, add references/sources (for example: <ref>{{cite book |author=Kobayashi Motoo |title=渥美半島の植物 |trans-title=Plants of the Atsumi Peninsula |language=ja |year=2002 |page=1}}</ref>, which results in[1]) before saving the translation. Your contributions to the Japanese Wikipedia indicate that you know perfectly well how to use references, so you should also be able to add references to the English translation. --HyperGaruda (talk) 05:04, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for your kind instructions, HyperGaruda. I have noticed that when I recovered my old draft to add proper references, it was saved and displayed as the way it was, without any addition of citations etc., while I was still editing. It was my mistake due to lack of knowledge and experience about Wikipedia editing, and I understand why the other editor mistook my intention. I will take your advice and perhaps try doing this again more carefully next time. --Kapibaramushi (talk) 05:34, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Glad that is sorted out. Good luck and happy editing! --HyperGaruda (talk) 07:29, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
