electropop edit

depeche mode main tag between 1981-1983 (and up to 1985 i would say) is electropop. this is highly documented and widely known to any depeche mode fan who was around in the UK at the time. whether u think synthpop or electropop is the same thing is irrelevant. your own opinion is irrelevant. electropop is recognized as its own genre on wiki. u may wanna go and challenge those media definitions but u may not do so on the depeche mode page. i remind you wiki is a collective effort. the overwhelming and prevaricating amount of your edits on the article allready is a negative sign . you imposed the genre post-punk to describe depeche mode music for years...when they have never been called that in media (and that's all that counts when discussing genres). untill you prove electropop and synthpop are the same thing (therefore removing the electropop genre from wiki) you may not remove the tag "electropop" from the depeche mode page as ITS DOCUMENTED THEREFORE NOT DEBATABLE. and btw i posted an article in the "post-punk" debate (with their first ever interview an featured article) and which should make u understand how clueless and misinformed you are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sequencer07 (talkcontribs) 13:39, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

This has been discussed before at length - check out the DM Discussion page. See the debate.

PS - I did not as you say "impose the genre post-punk to describe depeche mode music for years.", this was actually posted by someone else, and there were a number of people who agreed with me on this stance.

As you say, Wiki is a collective effort.

i read through all the genres discussion. there's no discussion on the electropop genre at all ( u may point me out to it if u wish)....also because there is little to discuss about as there's plenty media evidence tagging depeche mode as electropop , technopop etc etc. its FACTUAL. (for the1981 to 1983 period..., for violator ("technopop")....and suffer well was also tagged as electropop....and everytime they present a song with a more skeletrical emphasized electronic sounnd media are quick in saying "they are returning to their electropop era") . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sequencer07 (talkcontribs) 14:54, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yazoo edit

Europe in the Year Zero is not a Yazoo album. It is a compilation in which Yazoo was included. It is not a part of their discography; please stop adding this. Thanks. - eo (talk) 18:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yup - I agree with you. Thanks!

Depeche Mode are not Rock edit

Kalied04, I'm with you on this one. Angry Shoplifter, are there reliable sources saying DM are a rock band? The fact that there are several DM songs that sound a bit "rockier" than others is well-known, but is that enough for such categorization encyclopaedia-wise? Garik 11 (talk) 14:53, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Angry. FYI - In the discussion pages, under 'Rock' I have also included a link to a quote by Alan Wilder, who also mentions the fact that the SOFAD album is not a rock albumKalied04 (talk) 01:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please could I ask you to tone your language down and not to use the trashy American teenage word "freaking". Many thanks.Kalied04 (talk) 01:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

they never been and hopefully never will be a "rock" band. but they have released a lot of material in the past 10 years than can be labelled as "electronic rock". I dont even like their "electronic rock" stuff.. but some of their later music and live concerts fit this description http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_rock and the documentation u find in abundance just google "depeche mode electronic rock" or "depeche mode electro rock " —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sequencer10 (talkcontribs) 16:24, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Depeche Mode sales edit

Yes, I know the difference between album sales and singles plus albums, but where do Reuters/BB get their stats from? If EMI don't have the stats, then the extra 25 million figure is dubious and we should just stick with the EMI reference for the albums (75 million). best, Sunil060902 (talk) 10:58, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sunil - you are incorrect. I have inserted the referencesKalied04 (talk) 16:30, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

March 2010 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Depeche Mode. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. That goes with the IP address that you have been using as well. (See the above SPI case.) Please stick with your main account and refrain from the edit warring.MuZemike 18:51, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

While I do appreciate the many good contributions you have made, there's been a problem with a longterm edit war between you and another user going back a while now. I am putting you both on 0RR, which means neither of you must revert, at all, until the matter is resolved in article talk. Please go to Talk:Depeche Mode and make your arguments there. This edit war is preventing further improvement of the article and I am going to stop it. Let me know if there's anything you don't understand. --John (talk) 05:20, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
