Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:14, 17 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:The Jack Logan Show Team Logan.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:The Jack Logan Show Team Logan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:39, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:The Jack Logan Show

edit

Hello, Kalaboomsky. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "The Jack Logan Show".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

Speedy deletion nomination of 12 Days to Destiny

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 12 Days to Destiny, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Blade Auto Center

edit

Hello Kalaboomsky,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Blade Auto Center for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Kalaboomsky. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

I moved the unblock request to the bottom of the talk page so it is easier for admin to find and review the information. I have a few questions for you below:

  1. What actions led to your block, and why were they against Wikipedia policies and guidelines?
  2. On Wikipedia, when is an editor considered to have a conflict of interest? What should editors do if they have a conflict of interest with an article topic? (WP:COI and WP:COIE have more information about this.)
  3. How can editors avoid promotional language? (WP:NOTPROMO has information about this).
  4. If unblocked, what articles are you interested in editing?

Thanks, Z1720 (talk) 17:08, 23 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you @Z1720, many years ago, i was blocked for creating a Wikipedia page for a very well known company here in the Philippines and was tagged for promotion. I understand that an editor should not create Wikipedia articles about me or my friends, family or company as well as self promotion, marketing, publicity, or public relations.
I was blocked for many many years and i now understand the policies. I would like to contribute to editing articles about Philippine history, culture and people. If there is any article which i think will conflict my interest, i will consult you or any other administrators for consultation, i hope that would be okay? Thank you and i look forward to your consideration.
PS: If unblocked, is there a way to have to clean my talk page so i can restart this new journey? Please let me know. Kalaboomsky (talk) 03:38, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your response. Can you please respond to questions 2 and 3? Z1720 (talk) 13:54, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Z1720! An editor will be considered to have conflict of interest if they are contributing to Wikipedia about self, family, friends, clients, employers, or financial and other relationships. They should disclose COI when involved in affected articles and are discouraged from editing affected articles directly. They can also propose changes on talk pages by posting a note at the COI noticeboard for review. Additionally, they should put new articles through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process instead of creating them directly.
To avoid promotional language, editors must avoid advertising and showcasing including advocacy, propaganda, or recruitment of any kind: commercial, political, scientific, religious, national, sports-related, or otherwise. Wikipedia is also not for opinion pieces, scandal mongering, self promotion, advertising, marketing, publicity, or public relations. Thank you very much! Kalaboomsky (talk) 04:34, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your responses. FYI, COI editors can request changes by using the Request Edit Wizard, which in my opinion is more appropriate than the COI noticeboard (which is more about reporting users and finding non-COI editors to fix articles with concerns.) Looking through your contributions, you edited a lot of articles about the entertainment industry in the Philippines. Without going into detail, do you have a professional or personal connection to the Filipino entertainment industry? Of the articles you have contributed to, which ones do you have a COI with, and were you paid to edit any of those articles? Z1720 (talk) 19:34, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the tip on using Request Edit Wizard. I will have it bookmarked. Yes, i have a professional and personal connection to the Filipino entertainment industry. All articles that i have contributed about 4 years ago have a connection to myself and though i tried to adhere to the notability requirements, i got blocked because of the COI and NO, i was not paid by anyone whatsoever. I guess that is one big lesson to me, i love the experience of writing and contributing to this community and is what i missed so much. That is also one of the reason why i also asked if there is a way to start anew or maybe archive this talk page to also help protect my identity. Please advice. Kalaboomsky (talk) 03:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
If unblocked, you are able to archive or remove the unblock requests from your talk page. Instructions on how to do that are here. I am willing to unblock you with the restriction that you will not be able to edit any articles related to Filipino culture. This includes but is not limited to: biographies, companies, products, or anything connected with the Filipino entertainment industry including music, film, television, Internet personalities, theatre, live-action productions and the artistic community in the past or present. Do you understand and accept this condition?
Since the blocking admin cannot reply to this, I am going to WP:IAR the discussion with the blocking admin. I will give a day for other admins to comment if they have concerns with this. @Daniel Case: since this admin commented above, though they are welcome to ignore if they wish. Z1720 (talk) 18:20, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your consideration. Please at least help me contribute to histories, places, culture and traditions. Im really good with that. I would assume that the restriction is probationary? I mean, if i demonstrated a good behaviour, will be able to contribute to current events as well? Thank your for the tip in archiving my old talk page entry. Will follow that through. Kalaboomsky (talk) 09:55, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
The restriction can be appealed after a few months, but you would have to demonstrate some need to lift the restriction; since you have a COI I don't think this would be the best idea. As for current events, if it is not connected to the entertainment industry (political events, natural disasters, etc.) then it should be OK for you to edit, but I suggest that you look for articles that are not connected to the Philippines. If an admin thinks there is a hint of a connection then it will be grounds to reblock you without warning, which you will want to avoid. Z1720 (talk) 16:38, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much for considering my request. I appreciate it. Kalaboomsky (talk) 02:37, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
