Jammu Kashmir

Pls dont separate jammu kashmir (union territory) and Jammu Kashmir as different articles. It is creating confusion. Also give the intro as we give to other Indian union terrtories. Example.."Jammu Kashmir is one of the 9 union territories of India".Layercorey (talk) 04:53, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

I don't write about politics. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:56, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Okay, never mind, what I meant was redirecting as "Jammu and Kashmir (former state)", and redirecting union territory as just "Jammu and Kashmir".Layercorey (talk) 05:00, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

In addition, I dont know whether I can message you here or you have any email address. Unfortunate thing is I dont know what is going on with this particular user - 2409:4073:19f:558a:7868:d074:b78f:4b6a and Aditya 369 article. I wonder why Indian editors tend to self destruct and damage articles build with sincere efforts, and fail to respect co-editors. Layercorey (talk) 05:14, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Poovellam Un Vasam

Kailash, can you kindly add a poster to Ajith's Poovellam Un Vasam . The film was commercially successful and Ajith won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for his work in this film. Thank you for your time.

--DragoMynaa (talk) 16:35, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank you DragoMynaa (talk) 22:40, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

Ajith

What is your opinion regarding his stage name? Most of the sources refer to Ajith as Ajith or Ajit. Additionally, many of his hit films such as Dheena, Vaali, Mugavaree, and Amarkalam cite his name as Ajith. DragoMynaa (talk) 22:12, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

By this logic - we'll also have to make Rajinikanth to Rajini, Kamal Haasan to Kamal/Kamalahasan (and most importantly Arun Vijay to Arunkumar). DragoMynaa, those films were shot about twenty years ago. There has been consistency in recent times of how he is credited in his movies - as I've outlined very clearly on Ajith Kumar's talk page. And just for the record, his earliest hits - Pavithra, Aasai, Kadhal Kottai, Kaadhal Mannan etc - all have Ajith Kumar. TFPC Vishal (talk) 23:22, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
TFPC Vishal, I agree DragoMynaa shouldn't have moved the article without discussion. In fact, Thala is the better known Ajith over Ajit Khan and Ajit Bandyopadhyay. Also, in Yennai Arindhaal he is credited as Ajith Kumar. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:11, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Citizen (film)

Kailash29792 Thank you for adding posters! Could you also add a poster to Ajith's Citizen, as it was also successful. I feel grateful that you have improved Wikipedia so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DragoMynaa (talkcontribs)

"True poster"

Hi, Kailash. I'm not sure what made you call this version of HDDCS's poster to be the "true poster", when it's not. You are using "osianama" is which a dubious source (most of their posters look like cheap fan-made posters and were most definitely not the ones used for official theatrical releases). Please This is the correct poster of the film, and I hope you will revert yourself and undo such similar changes in other film posters. Thanks. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 09:12, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Krimuk2.0, the poster of Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam was not taken from Osianama. I called the poster of HDDCS true because it looked so authentic, and was not written as fan art. Only fringe and fake news websites would lie about authenticity of facts, but Osianama is no doubt an RS, this is its founder. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:56, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Actually, look at the professionalism here and the haphazard font in this one. As for the Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam poster, the less said about that the better. How can you think this would be an official poster. It looks like a B-grade poster from the 80s, let alone for a film featuring the top stars of the 2000s. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:02, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Krimuk2.0, the retro look for the poster of HTHS (seems more than 50% of SRK's movies have long names which need to be initialised) may be because it began filming in the 1990s and went through six years of development hell (is that the right term for films with delayed shooting schedules?). But the current poster seems authentic enough, so I won't protest. Ditto with HDDCS. What a coincidence we're talking about two movies with long names and two heroes in each. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:16, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Hahaha, yes. Actually, "osianama" has a propensity of using these retro-looking posters, which may have been used to sell the movie in C and D-grade centres, but were most definitely not used in official promotional materials in the cities. I grew up in Mumbai in the 90s and 00s, and (sadly, or not) I vividly remember all the movie posters that were plastered across the city. Haha! Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:20, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Maggie Simpson

A "Maggie" -- especially in a cartoon -- could be Margaret, Maggie, Magenta, Magnolia or any of a thousand other things. "Margaret" wouldn't be surprising, but is not inevitable (or sourced). - SummerPhDv2.0 15:32, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

List of Tamil actresses

Dear Kailash,

Can you kindly condense this article to actresses who have starred in 5+ Tamil films as one the lead actors? I removed a lot of actresses, but there are still more to remove. The list is already too long (as users are trying to add every actress who has starred in a Tamil film) and keeps getting longer as my edits of condensing the article are getting reverted by other users. --DragoMynaa (Talk) 02:04, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

DragoMynaa, this is better asked to Srivin. He maintains these lists better than me. But personally, I feel the "Other notable films" column shouldn't exist. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:32, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Sathish & Vijay Antony

Both of these wiki pages have been controlled by a single user (kumarcd / Editor 2018). In Vijay Antony's page, all of his films are listed as bilinguals when there are no sources to prove this on the page. Srivin and I have temporarily fixed these pages. On both of the pages, there is an unnecessary date column. How do we fix these pages? Can you warn these users that they are decreasing Wikipedia's notability? 12B

Could you find any sources that state that Bhagyaraj wrote 12B's screenplay? --DragoMynaa (talk) 10:53, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

DragoMynaa, if you can't find third-party sources, just resort to using the film credits. Like this:
12B (motion picture). Chennai: Film Works. 28 September 2001. Opening credits, at 1:00. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:36, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Kailash29792 In the 12B film credits, Bhagyaraj and Sujatha are not credited even though they wrote the dialogues.

Telugu films

I have noticed that there are lot of missing Wiki pages for Telugu movies (Thippara Meesam, Collector Gaari Bharya, Gaddam Gang)? What is the reason for this? Are only highly successful films given Wikipedia pages? --DragoMynaa (talk) 1:48, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Kailash, you are one of the most prolific GA contributor from India related topics. I was hoping we could collaborate together for your next GA. Do let me know whenever you need an extra hand. regards. --DBigXray 11:14, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

DBigXray, I've already nominated Guru Sishyan for GA. I'm just waiting for a reviewer. Also, Mullum Malarum has failed four FACs in a row, I want to clear all issues primarily raised in the fourth before attempting a fifth FAC, and it would be great if someone helped. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:18, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I will check these 2. Just to set clear expectations, I cant read or speak Tamil, if that will turn out to be a hindrance, I will need your help.--DBigXray 11:20, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Guru Sishyan is already in a very good shape. Good work there. How can I help there, do you have something in mind ?
Mullum Malarum when are you planning the next FAC ? --DBigXray 15:07, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
DBigXray, once Sathi Leelavathi's ongoing FAC closes. Would you like to post comments there? You could help me with MM by reading the translated pages and telling me what to add/correct. Also do read Fowler's comments here and see how they can be dealt with (I don't want him taking part in the next FAC but I'd rather solve his comments). D. B. S. Jeyaraj

I am surprised that someone as experienced as you doesn't understand the following from WP:INDICSCRIPT:

This avoidance of Indic scripts ONLY applies to articles that are predominantly India-related and is EXCLUDED from, among others, articles about Hinduism, Buddhism, Pakistan or any of India's neighbouring countries.

D. B. S. Jeyaraj isn't Indian. He never has been. He never will be.--Obi2canibe (talk) 21:17, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

If you disagree...

Hi Kailash, if you disagree with my edit per your edit summary, I'm happy to have the discussion. I find it bizarre to note Male and Female leads, because it rings of unconscious misogyny. I don't know that I typically see this phrasing in Western film articles, though I could be wrong and hypersensitive. Often when I see it, it's in the context of "Man is the lead and woman plays inferior 'Female lead' role." If you have a contrary opinion, I will self revert and then seek some input elsewhere. I also hope you don't think that I'm not approachable about differences of opinion. I don't mind being told that I'm wrong and I don't typically get bent out of shape about stuff. Billing Changes

Greetings fellow editor, wish you can help with the following editor's input on some of article's cast section. It is believed that we follow billing in the cast section according to the credit mentioned by the film itself. However, this user is using an outsourced billing from a songbook, he/she also acknowledge it as a reliable source. Please do help me to prevent the user committing the mistake as much often as he is an active editor. His account is User:NatyamZ27854. Thank you in advance.

Ason27 (talk) 15:26, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Ason27, while we must follow the credits when they are available (not lost, like Sathi Leelavathi), do not disregard the songbook at any cost. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:13, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
In my reverted edit I have already stated the film is available on youtube, I could not post the linkin my reply. If we going to disregard the actual credit from the film and follow the credit from somewhere else such as a songbook, how is this justified? Disregarding the material which the article is based on its what we do as an editor? Lets take for an instance, if an reliable website post a plot or some elements that we do not found in the film, are we just going to blatanly follows that in the plot section due to the facts that it is from reliable source? Does this make any sense? If not how come the already available billing from the film itself is not considered and some songbook which might be handled by a third party have to be considered. If this is what we have to follow then I think its a better time for me to quit. Thank you for your time.Ason27 (talk) 20:21, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
