Want to ask you something

I want to ask you a couple of things. How come you're so intent on keeping a section which addresses the criticism for Affleck, Gadot, and Eisenberg? Honest answer, no tricks. And would you agree to a section on the Iron Man 3 page which addresses the bad fan reception to the Mandarin twist? Again, honest answer no tricks.--Valkyrie Red (talk) 18:14, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

If a featured article like Casino Royale addresses the criticism surrounding Daniel Craig's casting, as does an A-class/GA like Tim Burton's Batman on Michael Keaton's casting, why should this not? I don't want WP:OTHERCRAP as a reply, but "perfect" articles like the ones I mentioned should be an inspiration for other developing articles. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:27, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
But do you notice something different about the other articles? They list said criticisms of the cast members in the casting section of the articles, not in the introduction. And you missed my question about the Mandarin.--Valkyrie Red (talk) 20:02, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
I did earlier create a "casting" section in Dawn of Justice, which the other editors disagreed with. And if many critics disliked the Mandarin twist, we may add that then. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:17, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Well, since things are pretty much underway, let's see if we can't create a new casting section.--Valkyrie Red (talk) 12:52, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

HHT and GAV

Gladly will help you on Hiphop Tamizha. BTW, can you help me and Pavan with GAV? He says there are unkown parameters to be removed. :) Ssven2 (talk)

Ssven2, yes I will help. But what must I do? Copyedit? Kailash29792 (talk) 15:09, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Yep. Mainly the "Production" section. Oh yeah and also archive the references after copyediting. :) Ssven2 (talk)

Velaiyilla Pattathari

The film is actually called by different names. "Velai Illa Pattathari", "Velai Illa Pattadhari", "Velaiyilla Pattadhari", "Velai Illa Pattadhaari" are some of them. They can all be redirected to "Velaiyilla Pattathari" :) Ssven2 (talk)

If that is so, please provide sources when including them in the article. But only the spelling in the CBFC certificate will be considered the official one. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:43, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
The references in the article mention the name in different ways. :) Ssven2 (talk)
Bro, I will be available on wikipedia for now and have taken a break from editing only. The reason being that VIP is undergoing copyediting by a GOCE member. After it is done, I will completely take a break and be back in November first week. Ssven2 (talk)

Happy to inform you that VIP has been copyedited. Ssven2 (talk)

Chandramukhi

All the best for Chandralekha, bro  . Do you happen to have the Dhananjayan pdf or even the link (URL) with you (Volume -2 (1977 to 2010)). It can be useful for future editing on Chandramukhi. Ssven2 (talk) 06:41, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I have both volumes of Dhananjayan's Best of Tamil Cinema. Remind me to send you information on Chandramukhi from the book (vol 2) this evening (6pm or 7pm looks like the best time). Kailash29792 (talk) 08:41, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
Bro, can u upload a photo of Jo for using it in Chandramukhi?  . Also, the plot might need a little trimming. Ssven2 (talk) 13:21, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
I could, if I knew how to upload without troubles. But I need a free image of the actress, or an image that is owned by a person I can contact seeking permission. Neither looks easy at the moment   if only Bollywood Hungama (where all images are free) had one of her... Kailash29792 (talk) 14:49, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Shall we pass up Chandramkuhi for reviewing? Ssven2 (talk) 00:50, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Submit it to the WP:GOCE, then maybe. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:47, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Which part of WP:GOCE?   Ssven2 (talk) 05:06, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
BTW, do you also have "Ramachandran, Naman (2012). Rajinikanth: The Definitive Biography. Penguin Books Limited. ISBN 978-81-8475-796-5."   Ssven2 (talk) 06:11, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
List Chandramukhi at WP:GOCE/REQ, and expect a copyedit within six weeks. As for Rajinikanth Definitive Biography, I don't have the book, but I'll visit the mall and photograph the required pages. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:19, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Submitted Chandramukhi to WP:GOCE yesterday. Hoping for the best.   Ssven2 (talk) 05:05, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Got the photos from Ramachandran book yet, bro? If so, can u find some regarding the film's theme. Thanks. Ssven2 (talk) 09:23, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Nope; I'll tell you when I do. But have you been taking info from Rajinikanth 12 12 12 Birthday Special, also by him? Kailash29792 (talk) 10:58, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I have taken it from the preview on Google Books. The thing is, for the "Definitive Biography" book, the pages on the preview from Google books are not mentioned and also some of the pages are not shown in both the books (its, of course, a preview  ). To get the number of the correct pages and info regarding the movie's theme, the photos would be quite useful. Ssven2 (talk) 12:02, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
Is the article good? Ssven2 (talk) 13:16, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
To an extent it is. After the GOCE editing is over it should be better, then it may be nominated for GA. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:21, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
BTW, do take care of the article (Of course you will :D) Ssven2 (talk) 12:16, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Break

I'll be taking a break from editing, bro, starting 7 October 2014, since my exams come up in November. Happy to meet all of you (You, Sriram, Arjann) and edit with you on Wikipedia. Will be back in 2nd week of November. Ssven2 (talk)

All the best Ssven2 and study well; advance happy Diwali (which comes on 22 October this year). And do put a "break" tag on your userpage. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:22, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Same to you, bro. I am available now. Starting coming Tuesday, (7 October 2014) only, I'll take a break. Ssven2 (talk)

Nope, I just happened to see someone edit his article (which I came up through your talk page). I thought the user was vandalising it. That's all. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 10:37, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reminding me. But, I guess I had requested them to add more information to the article. I'll look at it.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Prashant! (talkcontribs)

FYI, Koimoi is as reliable as Others. click this India's reputed newspapers uses Koimoi for reporting. I think you have got your answer. It is also widely used in FAs. Bollywood Hungama and Koimoi are as reliable as Business Standard. I (& others) have used other sources other than BOI in film articles, for example Kahaani.—Prashant 11:44, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

So, I request you to re add that information. Thank You. —Prashant 11:57, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Sock Puppetry

you are wasting your time on these sock puppet investigation(s) on multiple users every few weeks. Some of your investigation(s) are not moving and some have turned out to be not a sock puppett. sock puppetry applies to abusing articles and not protecting them. I have been protecting articles. a sock puppet is never interested in creating new articles or adding additional info. I have contributed to almost all articles on Tamil cinema. Could you stop it. My advise to you is you please dont worry about wikipedia. If anything is going wrong here in wikipedia the admins are there to take care of it Bhishek (talk) 09:17, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Thillana Mohanambal

Hello, Kailash. I am new to wikipedia and had joined officially the day before yesterday. I am interested in expanding this article. I noticed that most of the articles you had contributed had Dhananjayan's book as reference. Did Dhananjayan write about Thillana Mohanambal? If so, can u send the link. Thank you. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 13:11, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Thamizhan1994, here are the links you need: Page 1 Page 2 and Page 3. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:52, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the references, bro. Do you happen to have any references regarding the film's release (Like publicity campaigns, promotion, marketing etc). That would be great. Thanks.Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 06:31, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
I think if you type "Thillana Mohanambal" in Tamil and search in Google, results will certainly come. Till then, I'll scout libraries for more sources. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:40, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Meanwhile, I just found out some references from Dinamalar. How's ur library scouting going? :) Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 11:17, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
It is being interrupted by college assignments. But I promise to find more sources. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:23, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

I have added a few video references in the "Legacy" portion of the article. Is it ok, because there are hardly any news references for any of the movies other than Thamizh Padam (2010). Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 12:47, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

In my view they should be fine as they point directly to scenes from the films. Ask at WP:Teahouse. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:38, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

I noticed on your user page "Good Article contributions" or more commonly called among users as GA or GAs. Since we have expanded the article, why not make it a GA after submitting it to the GOCE? When do we do it? :) Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 06:15, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Yes, you can submit it at the GOCE requests page. At least six weeks later, a member from the GOCE will start copyediting it (due to the large backlog) and once he has finished, you can nominate it for GA. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:41, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
Since you helped me with the references and did some important editing, can I make you a co-nominator ie you and me together nominating the article. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 15:34, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
You are most welcome to. But check if it is possible for two editors to nominate the same article. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:37, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

I just wanted to highlight the important points in capital letters, I do not intend to shout. My only purpose is to provide information about Mother India which was screened in Cannes Classics of 2004. You include it in where ever you find appropriate. I am not interested in Mother India film article. Thank you Pushpakan (talk) 17:26, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Arjann, wish you the same! Unfortunately, here in Chennai, we have college today as we celebrated Diwali yesterday :( Kailash29792 (talk) 05:56, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Anniyan

Plot for Anniyan is now at 676 words. Ssven2 (talk)

@Ssven2: Hey guys! Mind if I ask you both what was wrong with the plot, except that it was at 800 words, a little above the prescribed limit? I was of the opinion that I had done a good job with it and it just needed a little copy-edit to cut down due to the size restriction. Don't get me wrong but every individual has his own way of writing a plot summary for a film; I wrote it my way. I wanna know if it violated any policies or that you guys just wanted to make it better. If there were some issues with regards to my writing, I would love to correct myself and incorporate them in my future work. Thx. -- Sriram speak up 11:16, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Btw, Kailash! Have you noticed yet that Ssven's userpage closely resembles yours? -- Sriram speak up 11:20, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes I did notice, and I will advice him to make his user page look different, to avoid sock puppetry suspicion. And Sriram, write the plot for Anniyan as you please, albeit ASAP (as short as possible) and with less idioms. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:57, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Sure man. Thanks. Hope your FAC review is progressing well. I wonder why hasn't it been promoted yet. -- Sriram speak up 13:36, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Hey bro! Now that the FA review of Chandralekha is almost over, could you lend me a helping hand with Anniyan? I have taken care of most of it except for the 'critical response' and 'box office' sections. I wanted to model the former section similar to the one in American Beauty (1999 film). A copy-edit should help. I'm gonna work on the 'Box office' section probably by tomorrow. Btw, I'm planning to add a 'Themes' section, the contents for which can be gathered from the various reviews. How about you work on it? Will you? -- Sriram speak up 16:15, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I will send you info from Dhananjayan's book, and that should help. I think "Inspiration" can be removed in favour of "Themes and influences". Kailash29792 (talk) 16:24, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
I was asking whether you can create the section. -- Sriram speak up 16:27, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Done Created, and here are the pages from Dhananjayan's book. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:50, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Kudos!!

Congrats on achieving your first FA in Chandralekha (1948 film), a film that truly deserves it, and for taking the legacy of Tamil cinema to global heights. Hoping to see more of your GAs turn into FAs in the future. Sriram speak up 17:00, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Puthiya Paravai

A reference you might want to look

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-tamilnadu/sivaji-in-russian-fighting-the-good-fight-against-alcohol/article6467477.ece

Since the article is well developed, does Dhananjayan have any more additional sources about the film? Ssven2 (talk) 08:03, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Nope, I got all I could from the book. Maybe by typing "Puthiya Paravai" in Tamil in Google search, you could get more results than the English sources could provide. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:08, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Chandralekha

Can I upload a poster of the film I created onto the article page - File:Chandralekha 1948 screenshot.jpg Ssven2 (talk)

I have no idea what you are talking about. But the image you have linked here does not seem worth adding to the article, owing to copyright issues. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:29, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Ok. :) Ssven2 (talk)
Ssven2, try to understand that the image was good indeed. But I only suggested against using it here because of WP:NFCC. Why don't you spend some time reading Template:PD-India? Kailash29792 (talk) 16:26, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Maybe, it can be licensed like the picture of the drum dance scene. BTW, the plot summary was at 378 words. I increased it to 396. (400-700 range right)? :) Ssven2 (talk)
In that case, I'd prefer an image of TR Rajakumari, as she is the star of the film. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:57, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
It's there in the reference of the photo :) Ssven2 (talk)

A reference you might want to look

Thank you, but I have more info than necessary for Chandralekha. If you can only rewrite this sentence in the lead more literally, "It opened up the theatres of North India to films made in South India", it will be helpful. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:29, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Better now? Ssven2 (talk)

Consider restoring that page by adding relevant sources. -- Sriram speak up 13:54, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Stumbled upon this. Is it of any use? -- Sriram speak up 06:10, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
For two reasons it is not: one, the page numbers are not given in the preview, and second: the article is close to passing the FAC, having gotten much support from other editors. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:18, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Ssven2, have you seen the film? Though I have, I can't remember whether the kingdom in it was named or not. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:15, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi

Got the pics yet?   Ssven2 (talk) 02:43, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Yet to, wait till this evening. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:00, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Oh sorry I photographed the pics, but did not yet send you them. Should do by this evening. Did you know that this link could help you expand Yennai Arindhaal greatly? The film's title is not mentioned in it though. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:14, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes, and Theodore Baskaran has given an entire article in The Hindu on the film (Pulikesi). Really have hit the jackpot, don't you think?   Ssven2 (talk) 07:10, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
Ya, seems that way. Also, do you have interest in developing any 20th century Tamil film article? I would love to see any 90's Tamil film article become good/featured anytime soon. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:21, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
How about Thalapathi, Roja, Bombay (film) or Thevar Magan or Padayappa, Baashha? Which do you think has the best chance? For me, it would be Bombay or Baashha. BTW, Puli photos?   Ssven2 (talk) 13:25, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
I would say both films have an equal chance, as there are at least two books that cover the making of Bombay in detail - Conversations with Mani Ratnam and some BFI book. BTW, here are the pages for Pulikesi from Dhananjayan. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:00, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Omio Asad and Edit warring

Hi, we all appreciate the work that you are doing to keep away the vandals from Indian cinema related featured and good content. Many a times there have been instances of WP:BOOMERANG at noticeboards. The other editor might point out that you are also edit warring. This might lead to undesirable consequences. You might remember FireboltLeviosa, a sockpuppet of AniceMathew. When he/she was removing information from Kick (2014 film), I reverted him/her only twice and left an edit-warring note on their talk page. A few days later they did the same thing. I reverted him/her only once and when they violated the 3 Revert rule I reported them at the Edit-warring noticeboard and provided the diff for the previous edit warring and vandalising warnings given on their talk page. In August they were blocked for 48 hours for violating the three-revert rule. The best way to deal with such editors is to keep calm and discuss on their talk page or the article's talk page. Thanks and I hope you will understand. There are thousands of articles that need improvement. Today, I expanded Grazing Goat Pictures Pvt. Ltd. Its worth a read.--Skr15081997 (talk) 14:51, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Yes Skr15081997, that is so. But the problems are, Omio did not respond to any of the messages/warnings on his talk page, he was seemingly oblivious to the note on Deepika Padukone that disallows the usage of infobox in that article, and in almost all his edits on Deepu's article, he added the GA icon, replacing the article's FA star. Even after I ARV'd him, he continued his disruptive/unconstructive editing, and I could not let the article be degraded. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:57, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
I understand your concerns. We have very few editors for improving and maintaining articles covered by WP:INCINE. There is no particular policy that supports or opposes the usage of infobox in articles. Most likely, that user will be blocked for their disruptive behaviour.--Skr15081997 (talk) 15:31, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

I presume KNI is the article you are intending to take to GA. And because you can read Tamil well I think you should not have trouble reading. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:09, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
Actually, bro, I posted them for Sriram and yes, I intend to help him. The article I intend to take to GA is Imsai Arasan.   Ssven2 (talk) 08:24, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
Ssven2, did you see this ref which is located in bibliography? It is about the 50th year celebrations, which could help develop the article. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:20, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the links. I'll take a look and do the needful. -- Sriram speak up 08:38, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Magadheera

Hi Kailash. Hope you are doing well. I need you suggestion in this peculiar case. That is, i am presently working on Magadheera and i want to make it a GA. The problem is, exclusive information regarding the film's sets and other things are published by Idlebrain.com as exclusives just like Behindwoods exclusive. But my concern is, though it is considered as one of the oldest and reliable sources outside Wikipedia i.e. in outside world, here many feel that it is not a reliable source. I am unable to understand how to prove its reliability and also am confused whether to use it or not in the article as without them, the article will fall short of huge coverage. So, i request you to help me in finding out its reliability and also the usage of its exclusive information in Wikipedia. Only thing in favor is that Bommarillu which depended heavily on info from Idlebrain is a GA and thing unfavorable is that many objections were raised in the past regarding its use in that article. Please help me if possible. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:46, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Behindwoods is usable as it has an article on Wikipedia. If Idlebrain fails, just ignore it. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:08, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews

Hello Kailash29792. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Kaaviya Thalaivan

Hi Kailash. I expanded the critical reception in the article Kaaviya Thalaivan (2014 film). Please do visit it once and perform a copy edit if it requires. Thank you. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:32, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Research

You don't know of any Indian newspapers or research archives which could greatly benefit research for Indian films do you? If you or a page stalker can think of anything please suggest it at Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library/Journals. India must have some subscription sources available.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:15, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Blofeld, a user named Tito Dutta has created a search engine, which can be used to track content exclusively on Indian newspapers. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:38, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Are there any Indian resources though which have paid subscription access which would be very useful for research on wikipedia though?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:40, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

I think Hindustan Times is one such (on Mughal-e-Azam, some HT link requires subscription). But the majority of Indian newspapers are free to read. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:43, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 10

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of films split into multiple parts, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Frank Miller. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Lingaa

I watched Lingaa today morning at Hyderabad. I want to add the film's plot (though the Tamil people would change the character names of one or two characters later). But i am confused what to do as it is the very first day. Advice me please. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:42, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

You add the plot, and many reviews of the Tamil version may have the character names. so follow them. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:08, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

I've done it just now. Trim if you feel necessary and make changes if you watched the Tamil version. No reviews are specifying anything other than Rajinikanth and the film's negatives. :| Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:39, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Lingaa

Hi. Long time, I know. Please can you help me translate what is Rahman speaking on each of the songs. The soundtrack of Lingaa has potentials to develop. But there are no reliable news publishers who have talked about technical development of the album or atleast published what Rahman says in the video. If I would understand Tamil so much then I would have listened to the videos and written. The video acts as a source under the cite av media citation. So I guess if you just write down in very short whatever Rahman says (only the technical development- genre of music, how it was developed, time for recording, year, raag, shooting locations, lyricist etc). If it is too time consuming to you, you may pass this message to other users. I'm requesting this to you because I know you and Ssven2 better on Wikipedia. Arjann (talk) 11:57, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
