Re:fact edit

Hey Kailash. As I predicted long time ago, these so-called bilingual productions will trouble us a lot. I had taken this issue to the Indian cinema task force and started discussion, not many were bothered to take part there. Those very few who replied there, have all told that creating articles for every version is generally unpreferred, so you see it's not a personal agenda and there is no bias towards any particular film. A bilingual film, that is basically one film, the same film, made in two languages. So there'll be existing two articles for one film, is that needed? Moreover, an article that duplicates another existing article may get speedily deleted. I repeat what I told another editor before: If there are not considerable changes in the cast, crew, the story or the script, I absolutely don't seen any need to create a separate article for the same film. There have been a couple of exemptions such as the ones you mentioned, mainly because the lead cast of those films have been different; in the case of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya/Ye Maaya Chesave, the stories were even slightly different. However films like 180, Dhoni, Payanam/Gaganam and Naan E/Eega too, do not need two articles, because there are no notable differences between both versions. Vishwaroopam does have one article only (until now), rightly so! Abhiyum Naanum's Telugu version Aakasamantha had an article until some time ago, it was redirected then. All films get the same treatment, therefore I will definitely redirect Gaganam to its main article too very soon and maybe even Naan E. The same applies to Yen Endral Kadhal Enben (which is probably more a dubbed film than an entirely remade film anyway.) As I said, other experienced editors have voiced the same opinion and so far, nobody could make a convincing point why separate articles for the same film should exist. So thats's the answer to your question! Have a nice day! :) Johannes003 (talk) 19:00, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Parasakthi edit

Hi Kailash - i see most of the peer review comments have been addressed by you. Just a few

  • link congress party
  • dmk expansion in the first instance
  • reference to list of songs?
  • rephrase -"Parasakthi was released on 17 October 1952, coinciding with Diwali day," to "was released on Diwali" - point is it is not coincidental, but planned release. Most big movies release on Diwali even now.
  • "nicknamed a "silver jubilee" hit." - is it not a common term for all movies running well.
  • try to maintain tense uniformly in running text, esp in plot.

I think you can go for GA nom, if that was the original idea.Ssriram mt (talk) 22:42, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

An interesting thing to tell you edit

I now really agree that IMDb is an unreliable source. My sister was going through the Parents Guide section of both Man of Steel and Wreck-It Ralph. Our mouths fell open by seeing this : IN INDIA WRECK-IT RALPH AND MAN OF STEEL ARE CERTIFIED U/A AND A RESPECTIVLEY. Proof: this and this. Can you even believe this? as every other Indian sources and reviews say that it was U and U/A! I know its a stupid thing to tell, but this perfectly classifies why IMDb is an unreliable source.----Plea$ant 1623 14:49, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

No, no, you didn't got me. Man of Steel was A and Wreck-It Ralph was U/A.----Plea$ant 1623 14:58, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, but it is also Superman's most violent outing yet. All films in the original Superman series are rated U (even the mostly-forgettable Superman Returns).----Plea$ant 1623 15:10, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if it's correct or not. That guy has been fighting this issue for a long time. He wants me to send him an email etc., but I don't want to. I provided a link to the color version credits on his user page. Don't know if he saw it or not. I am tired of fighting with these people. Can you read both versions and figure it out? Dear Kailash and others,

Everyone may have a different view on the matter. It is better that we all resolve it. The same would be in the interest of Wikipedia as well as in the interest of Mughal-e-Azam, a film that all of us love.

I suggest that we talk an authority on this issue and get it vetted and verified by him. What do you say ?

Sriram edit

Your work on Karnan was terrific. By the way, a column appears every Sunday in The Hindu called 'Blast from the past' by a film historian named randor guy. Its about the classic movies of the 60s and 70s. If possible, can you use those materials for your work on old tamil films? And most of these movies don't even have an article in wiki. If these pages were created, I would also pitch in with more info and references. Thank You. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 08:59, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's what I was trying to say. If the articles already exists, it becomes easier to develop. But most of these movies don't even have an article. If you can create such articles, even if it was just stubs, we can work in tandem and develop them. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 09:30, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I am not looking for anything in particular. Just felt that the column can be used as a source of primary information for creating the article which can be developed later by others. If those were the articles created based on the column, I'll try what I can to find more info about them and update those articles periodically. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 10:06, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Coz we never know for which article, info will be available. So can't commit you on any article in particular. But will do my best. If possible, keep me updated about the articles you create using the column as a source. You may add it to the list you provided above. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 10:22, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I created an article based on one of those columns, Nenjil Or Aalayam. But a BOT tagged the article with copyright infringement or something. Take a look and try to correct it. I don't what I'm supposed to do. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 19:48, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

So does that mean if I rewrite it, I can remove the tags or am I supposed to wait for some admin to take a call? -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 04:18, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
How about this image? [1] [2] -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 07:01, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Since you mentioned Iru Sahodarargal in the list, how about this? [3] -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 07:20, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. Saw the image you have uploaded for Nenjil.. I just felt this image could be better. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 07:40, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Btw, is the Iru Sagodharargal image free? I mean, the movie came in 1936. So the copyright should have expired. Can I upload it to commons? -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 07:44, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
But if the copyright has expired, why not upload it in commons? -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 08:14, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your wishes. Btw, about your image for Parasakthi, the movie came on 1952. So I suggest you upload the image from that photobucket account of yours to commons. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 16:17, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey! In Chandralekha (1948 film), the image in infobox reads Chandra Lekha instead of Chandralekha. Should there be a space in the title?-- Sriram Vikram (talk) 14:06, 18 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey pal! Regarding the Blast from the Past (column), Randor Guy isn't the only one doing it. He's just the one in charge of the tamil films. There are other guys who make those columns in other language films. For ex: Suresh Kolhi in New Delhi for hindi films. Take a look at these... [6] Randor Guy for Tamil, [7]] Vijay Lokapally for Hindi, [8] Narasimham for Telugu, [9] Vijayakumar for Malayalam, [10] again Hindi but Suresh Kolhi, [11] again Hindi but Ziya us salam. etc. I think there are many more particularly for Hindi because lot of states speak Hindi. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 15:01, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I can't get you. Do you mean you want me to add those movies too to the list? I just informed you because when so many people are working on the column, it is not appropriate to attribute it to just one guy. Actually that was the reason why I added the list to Randor Guy's page instead of creating a new page. I think now that a new page has been created, its better to add other guys names too. But if some wikipedian starts adding those other language movies to the list, then it will become difficult to maintain. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 15:36, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I'm just changing the heading of this section for both of us to navigate easily as there is another section titled 'Request'. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 15:48, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good. Lets have a general article that exists now. It will list all those people working on that column from where they can navigate to each language. And those articles can hold the info abt the list of films. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 15:53, 19 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey! why aren't there any reviews yet? Does the review process usually take this long? There are not even any comments. Are we supposed to wait for him or can we ask someone else to take over? -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 07:29, 22 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yeah! Saw your post in his talk page. But he hasn't replied yet. So, no use in me contacting him. I got some work to do in my real life. But trying to make myself available for the review. Its getting delayed here. Can I request in the teahouse for someone else to do the review? Is there any such procedure, if the first reviewer is on a break? -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 07:40, 22 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Thanks. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 08:01, 22 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Fix that Thalapathi poster edit warring. By the way, your undo din't work. It still shows the other image. Just tell that Onam guy that the other image has site logo. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 06:55, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey! I was expecting you to make the changes to the Blast from the Past (column) page. When I created a partial list in Randor Guy's page, I knew it would get deleted soon. I still did it so that I can retrieve the older revision and use it as a check list for creating new articles for the lost film series. By the way, I'm a Vikram fanatic as you might have already knew from my user name! So, I'm gonna be a little busy with articles of his films. I'll be joining you pretty soon with the classic films. -- Sriram speak up 13:55, 27 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

One more thing. When you upload movie posters, I suggest you upload reduced size because most of your posters gets reduced by Theo's Little Bot and the older versions gets deleted with time. Which means that, though you upload the posters, you won't be getting the credits unless someone pulls up the revision history for the images. Or you can upload two images- one of the actual size and the second of lower size. This will confuse the bot. (Did I just say that!!) Check this File:Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara Poster.jpg. So that even if the larger image gets deleted, the file will still have your name. -- Sriram speak up 13:55, 27 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
But I din't mean that. I was talking about the different languages the columns appear in. And as I already said, I did not expect the table to stay. I just searched for the column in The Hindu and added them as they appeared. Its still sortable. But if you want to arrange them by decades, I think you can copy the table to an excel file and sort with the year. Don't know if that will actually work. -- Sriram speak up 14:34, 27 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. I have sorted the column by year and for films of same year, with their names. Regards. -- Sriram speak up 17:02, 27 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey! This article [12] appeared in today's paper. Take a look. It could be useful. — Sriram speak up 04:42, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ha ha! What a coincidence!! No, its not me. My birth name is Sriram Narayanan. I just added Vikram coz I'm a Vikram fanatic. By the way, I think you can add it to Parasakthi. In the legacy section. -- Sriram speak up 04:57, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Also, why doesn't the infobox have the editor name and National Pictures? -- Sriram speak up 05:03, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
As for me, I use studio when it actually means so. That is, the film was shot at a film studio; a physical structure. And I use distributor for one who has a production house. Not a place where sets are erected for film making. -- Sriram speak up 05:25, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
And the link doesn't even mention AVM Productions; just AVM Studios. So the studio is AVM and distributor is National Pictures. -- Sriram speak up 05:27, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I know how hard it is to edit articles without "wiki training" (I'm in the same boat, hehe)...so this is for editing so well, regardless; especially on Tamil films! :) AB01 (talk) 10:29, 28 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

2015 Indian Film Alone edit

I was wondering if you could please create a page for it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Indian editor television (talkcontribs) 18:16, 8 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Note that the above request was posted by a sockpuppet evading their block; and before acting on the request, due consideration should be given to whether or not one wants to be affiliated with such activities. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:22, 8 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Purampokku Poster edit

Hello dear Kailash. The poster currently uploaded for Purampokku is a fan made poster. Official poster from the producers have not yet been released. We may need to change when we have the official poster. Hope that is fine. Thanks ahead. Arun Rajagopalan (talk) 15:39, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I believe your claims that the poster is fan-made. But when the official comes out, can you upload it here? Kailash29792 (talk) 15:44, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Kailash29792 Sure. Thank you. Arun Rajagopalan (talk) 12:22, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hope you are doing fine. You may be interested in this. Evano1van(எவனோ ஓருவன்) 10:59, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

@Evano1van Under 2013, I have fixed Ethiri En 3, Kalavadiya Pozhuthugal, Muriyadi and Veeram. The rest doesn't seem to have an article in enwiki. Btw, Yohan never took off. So, I don't think it should have an article in the tamil wiki. Hope you can take care of it and update your userpage too. Thanks. Regards. -- Sriram speak up 14:39, 24 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Sriram fixing. Yes, I will report incorrect ones once I finish with interwiki links. Evano1van(எவனோ ஓருவன்) 10:13, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mullum Malarum edit

Hi, you are doing a commendable job by expanding the article. This book might be helpful. Also you could take some of these articles to WP:DYK, an interesting project in wiki, which I think you might be aware of. If you need any help in this regard ping me. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:28, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Brother, I don't really know much about that. Did you write all that in the article? Thanks dude. I love Mahendran's films, this, Uthiripookkal (my favorite) and Johnny, and I so wanted to expand the articles but I could not find much. I think you have done a brilliant job, for me it looks great and I can't tell if it's all right or whether it needs to be edited. Good luck, hope you can improve the other articles too. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 18:13, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Balu Mahendra in his blog shares his experience working in the film. Might be helpful. Vensatry (Ping me) 13:50, 14 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Vensatry: the best u can do is translate the most useful trivia of Mullum Malarum and paste it here. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 15:24, 14 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'll develop that in my sandbox. Meanwhile, you can also edit. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:31, 14 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
In the development section, you've included an image of the crew members. I think the reviewers might question you on adding this non-free image in addition to the poster. It could have been okay if you had included the image of Jayalakshmi and Shoba as they are no more (also there's a strong contrast between the two characters'). Vensatry (Ping me) 07:55, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Here is the original link for Vikatan review. Only a preview in shown though for non subscribers! -- Sriram speak up 18:23, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Btw, the Thina Thanthi review is also avl in ref 34 in the article. I suggesr you use it instead of the rajnifans link. -- Sriram speak up 18:29, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sriram Vikram, I cannot find "தந்தி" in ref 34, which is this ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 03:27, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
It can only mean that the rajnifans link could have wrongly mentioned the review to be from Thinathanthi. After translating the reviews, I was checking the article if they have been already used. That is when I stumbled upon ref 34 whose contents are exactly the same as in the rajnifans link under thinathanthi review. -- Sriram speak up 09:10, 8 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
You haven't used the link for Vikatan review. The Dhananjayan book doesn't have a preview in google books. So, I suggest you use this link. I'm afraid the rajnifans link could be of problem when the GA review happens. Its my opinion; you decide. -- Sriram speak up 11:49, 8 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
This link that you have posted in the talk page says the film was dubbed and released in Russia. -- Sriram speak up 03:13, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Can't we just mention that it was dubbed and released in Russia? An encyclopaedia is supposed to be encyclopaedic. Whatever info is available, put it in there. -- Sriram speak up 03:29, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Have you checked this out yet? The book..? -- Sriram speak up 01:01, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I saw the reference in the article. I was asking about the book. Will let you know if I find the book or get to know where to buy one. -- Sriram speak up 02:35, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
FYI, if you are in Chennai: The Chennai Book fair is currently happening at the YMCA, Nandanam. Great place for finding film related books. I will be going in a day or two. -- Sriram speak up 02:40, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Director Shankar says "I entered with dreams of directing films such as `Mullum Malarum.'" Here Think it can be added somewhere? -- Sriram speak up 14:54, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, the article is your work. I leave it to you to decide whether it is worth mentioning. -- Sriram speak up 15:02, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Since I felt the sentence was too long, I have rephrased it a little. But, feel free to revert it if you aren't satisfied. -- Sriram speak up 00:47, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Conversations with Mani Ratnam edit

Hi, do you have the physical copy of the book? Vensatry (Ping me) 07:47, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have a hardcover of Conversations with Mani Ratnam at home. However, I am at work and I will back home only by around 6 or 7pm. BTW, what is the book needed for? ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 07:52, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
That'll be handy to take Mani Ratnam to FAC in the future. Also could you fill those missing awards in this page. Vensatry (Ping me) 07:55, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
@User:Vensatry, I'll do the best I can after coming home. BTW, the book has a free preview on Google Books. Try that, or u can buy the book online for around 400 (less expensive that the physical purchase). ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 08:03, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
It has only limited preview. Just expand the awards won by him when you get time. Vensatry (Ping me) 08:10, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
