What was wrong with the edit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaboooz (talkcontribs)

You removed legitimate information regarding the song. Please sign your comments when adding to peoples talk pages. It makes it a lot easier for people to respond. Chappy TC 19:56, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
What was the 'legitimate information'? Kaboooz 20:15, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
You removed who composed both songs and the period of time the single stayed in the UK chart which as far as I can tell is removing legitimate information because they are facts. Chappy TC 18:07, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Firstly Apologies. I gave the wrong reason when I reverted your edit. I was on a vandalism revert mission and put down the wrong reason. This led me to read this edit the wrong way and yes I now realise that your edit is the one on the left and apologise for saying you removed information you actually added. However the Leeds United page where relevant is meant as a summary of it's daughter articles, for which Marching On Together is a daughter article and contains more information on the song. This means that the section you edited should be a brief summary of what isn't that long an article. Any information you wish to add is obviously well received but should really be added to the Marching on Together article. I apologise for the mis-understanding in providing the wrong edit summary which caused my confusion. I have recently been however reverting several vandalism edits on the main MOT article (this being one of many reverts) and this must have been during the time I reverted your edit and I wasn't paying proper attention. Chappy TC 23:00, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Definitely correct the information if it is wrong, and I have to say the last few matches I've been to MOT is only played at the start and not 3 times like you say.Chappy TC 07:43, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

You can upload any image that is justifiable to wikipedia but it has to be justifiable (upload link on left hand menu). The copyright status also has to not limit wikipedia as they could get in trouble. Team posters and badges are justifiable as long as you select the correct category (see Image:Leedsunitedofficialbadge.png), use a non-free media rationale (see Template:Non-free media rationale) and upload a low-resolution version (can't be high quality, if the version you obtain is high resolution then programs such as paint shop pro or photoshop will reduce the size. 200 pixels should be ok). With regards to general pictures for Leeds and other general pictures you need to find ones that fit into the creative commons license (or just ones you take yourself and wish to make freely available to anyone) so that they don't break copyright (see my talk history) for mistakes I made in the past when I didn't know so much and distinguishing between the creative commons types of license. Badges you should be ok with as long as you add the non-free media rationale and the correct category for the upload. Anything further I'll try to help but if not talk to Nick, as he's helped me in the past. Chappy TC 15:58, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's definitely in the East stand: Elland Road virtual tour (Click on the far right link on the East stand) Kaboooz 14:24, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure it's not the wooden board on the link on the far left? The board in the east stand has the current badge on it where as the board in the banqueting suite has the badge that was in use in 1994. Chappy TC 20:56, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Leeds United Kit edit

Could you help to make the kit shown on the main Leeds United page and the current season page more accurate replicas of our actual kit? The home kit on the main page is fine apart from the sides, which are accurate on the home kit on the current season page and the away kit on the current season page is fine apart from the sides, which are accurate on the main page. Kaboooz LUFC TC 19:43, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kaboooz

Regarding this I think the best person to talk to about this is Yorkshirian. I did alter some of his edits on the main page regarding this and as you can see from my talk page he reverted them. I didn't want to start an edit war and since he has taken quite some time creating the home kit he will probably be willing to create of fix the away kit on these pages aswell. Hope this helps.

Regards

ChappyTC 20:22, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi sorry for the late reply, I was away over Xmas. Isn't the sides on the mainpage more acurate? On the current home-kit, the blue parts don't seem to go right the way down, just part. Let me know what you think and I'll fix anything that needs touching up, cheers. - Yorkshirian (talk) 07:43, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Leeds United Template edit

I suppose the Service Crew and Square Ball aren't officialy affiliated to the club, but Yorkshire Radio certainly is, since it is owned by Leeds United A.F.C., provides commentary on every single first team game, broadcasts live video coverage of all reserve team matches and follows the club off the field too. Perhaps this is a better version:

Kaboooz LUFC TC 13:58, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid it isn't owned by the club. It was set up by ken bates to provide a digital sports radio station to cover all of yorkshire's team. However regardless of the station being owned by the same individuals it is not officially affiliated with the club. The Service Crew has actually been renounced by the club, with only the members of the crew loosely "associating" themselves with Leeds United, however I hardly feel acts of violence against others has anything to do with supporting a football team. Leeds, Leeds, Leeds is an official magazine for the club, and states so on the front cover, where as Square Ball is not, and thus so is only associated with the club by the fact it is produced by the clubs fans. The way the template currently is would be better, with the only minor alteration I would suggest would be to move the limited company page to the before the ladies article link. ChappyTC 16:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Technically all articles fall under the history section. Players details players whom have played over 100 games for Leeds, detailing the years they played, and also the the years players have been club captains and player of the year (detailing the clubs history by its player history), managers details the history of Leeds' managers, chairmen details the history of Leeds' chairmen. The Limited company article if you read it details the history in relation to the company side regarding the administration of the club. The main history and Leeds city are the two devoted history articles so these in my view are the only two that should be there.
I'm presuming you're getting the "Current Season" format from somewhere similar to the man utd (yeugh) template however they actually have a seasons template. I feel unless one of these seasons templates is created then a seasons section on the main template is the better idea.ChappyTC 18:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chapman 1990-91 edit

Hi, that's a bit naughty, looks like whoever compiled that english-football-archive list wasn't concentrating when they entered the 1990–91 season. Chapman certainly scored 31, but not all in the league. See leedsfans.org – 21 league + 3 FA Cup + 4 league cup + 3 other (Zenith Data thingy) = 31. Though 21 league came close, the highest scorer that year was Alan Smith (Arsenal) with 22, see RSSSF. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Leeds United Service Crew edit

Hi. Whilst I can understand your wishing to remove the name of Leeds United in the lead in the section that deals with the BBC News Report, unfortunately you are removing sourced content and replacing it with something that is both incorrect and that was not in the News Report. The News Report only dealt with football clubs, not firms names, nor gangs names as they were usually called then. At no point did they mention LSC. They only named Leeds United along with four other English league clubs, as well as showing each clubs crest onscreen and brief details of behaviour. By changing Leeds United to read LSC you are changing accurate sourced content to read as something that is inaccurate. I fully understand why you would wish to do so and that it might be unpalatable. And I also fully realise that Leeds United distance themselves from the LSC, but the section is fully sourced and accurate as it is, and changing it in the way you are doing is misleading and incorrect. I will try and think of a way that it can be slightly re-worded. Thanks, ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 17:35, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Current season edit

Hi there, I was just wondering whether the squad information seciton is supposed to include all appearances and goals rather than simply league ones, as most articles do.
Kaboooz LUFC TC 20:21, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would guess that this is the standard within the seasons articles whereas the standard on individuals players pages as you say is to use league appearances only. Your bes off talking to the main contributor to the article T1v37r or the creator of the templates for seasons articles ClaudioMB. I would also note that as far as I and T1v37r are aware the league table is only supposed to include a small segment with the full table appearing on The Football League 2007-08. ChappyTC 22:33, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I decided to put in goals and appearances in all competitions rather than just league appearances as it does not give a true reflection of the appearances of some players. After all, there is football played except for in the league. I would vote for it to stay the same as it is. If you look in the LUFC match day programme, they list apps/goals in the league, then other comps, then all appearances, not just league appearances. I would vote to keep it in. t1v37r, 23:09, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Leeds United Honours edit

Your reason for removing the honour I added was "these are the honours as listed on official site", but it is listed here on the official site, along with others that aren't on the wikipedia list. Kaboooz LUFC TC 00:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Apologies, they've changed it since I last looked at this. They do however list every appearance we've made in Europe which isn't an honour according to most. In general on wikipedia if a club has finished in the final two of a competition these are the only entries which appear in the honours section, otherwise it's usually as furthest the club has reached in the competition, hence the champ league and uefa cup semi-final appearing in the honours list. Apologies for the confusion and I hope this clarifies my other reason for removal (even though obviously I didn't state the other reason). Happy editing, oh and a new Leeds related article Leeds United and Manchester United rivalry has been started by Yorkshirian, feel free to make any additions to this, I feel with some minor additions / this could as Yorkshirian has suggested gain either GA or FA status.

St. James' Park edit

Hey they Kaboooz. Just noticed that you removed the 5-star stadia template from the St. James' Park article. One thing that puzzles me is that in the infobox it has the word "UEFA" then five stars after it. Perhaps this is just me, btw I'm not a United fan (I'm a Crewe Alex fan and I certainly know Gresty Road isn't 5-star material :P), but doesn't that make the article inconsistent? Or perhaps this is just a vandal playing tricks, I don't know. Thanks. --Phill talk Edits Review this GA review! 14:45, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Elland Road East Stand frontage.png edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Elland Road East Stand frontage.png, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Elland Road East Stand frontage.png has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Elland Road East Stand frontage.png itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. CSDWarnBot (talk) 16:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Apologies for my delay in responding. For the image to stay, it needs to be licensed appropriately so that it can be used by anyone - including, but not limited to, Wikipedia. This means one of the licenses listed below "Your own work" in the Licensing pull-down menu on the upload form (i.e. any license listed below this in the pull-down menu; it doesn't need to be one indented below "your own work" but above "Freely licensed"). I would suggest that you re-upload the file using one of these licenses, if the original creator of the image approves it. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with this. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 21:54, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're right; I was meaning any of the licenses between that point and the bottom of the pull-down menu. In this case, that probably means one of the licenses under the "Freely licensed" section. I'd ask the original creator of the image whether s/he would be willing to license the image under one of those three licenses (CC-BY-SA, CC-BY or GNU Free Documentation License). Re: Outline Map edit

Hi. I can help you create a map of Leeds. However, first have a look at the outline map of West Yorkshire, it might be sufficient for your needs (see example here). —Jeremy (talk) 19:10, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I drew the map of Sheffield with Adobe Illustrator using reference maps from a variety of sources, but chiefly Open Street Map. You can actually get an SVG from open street map, but I found it easier to take screen captures of the areas that I needed and then trace outlines of the things that I wanted to include in my map. The most difficult part is getting the boundaries: http://www.election-maps.co.uk/ is the best place to find these, but according to their terms and conditions we cannot just trace their maps. Instead what I did for Sheffield was to use the fact that boundaries usually follow easily identified geographic features such as rivers or roads. I used the election maps site to identify what these features are and then traced them from open street map, filling in any gaps with some old public domain maps of Sheffield that I have. As you can imagine, this is not something that can be done quickly, but I might have time to try drawing Leeds this weekend. —Jeremy (talk) 19:35, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Dennis Wise 2.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
