GDST

Hallo, I've done a bit of a blitz on the article today...(and then let myself get distracted onto updating The Belvedere School into its new name, and sorting out the links to it, etc!)

The Wikipedia style seems to insist on refs being after full stop at end of sentence, so I've tweaked a few of those, and various apostrophes, and have used <ref name=xyz> to combine multiple refs to same resources. Also formatted a few refs differently.

I wonder if it's worth trying to get it rated as Good Article? Could do with a couple of pictures, I suppose - founders and/or current schools.

You've obviously done a huge amount of work on it (or is it a spinoff from an essay or dissertation for a course somewhere?), so thanks for all that. I went to a GPDST school myself, which is why I take a bit of an interest in the GDST article! PamD (talk) 11:38, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

Center for Chinese Contemporary Art

Hello K8tmoon. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. --- Possibly Thank you for stepping in. No, I do not have any connections to the subject of this article, although, as I have declared on my user page, I do have expertise that is specifically related to migrant and diasporic communities in England since World War II amongst other topics. This interest is because I am a migrant myself, living in England. I noticed that that all of K8tmoon edits since July 2018 have either been on this article, or a BLP related to the subject of the article. The only exception is Archibald Sayce. It is also noted that prior to this date none of their edited articles had any relation to this. I started to edit this article and was trying to help find secondary sources for it, as the article relies primarily on self-published sources (see article talk page). This is when I came across information that leads me to think there may be a COI.--ArchivesandLetters (talk) 23:23, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

• Please see note below on Conflict of interest. My comment above was to address claims of paid advocacy which is the accusation featured in this section. None of my edits on the site have been on behalf of any of the organisations that I have worked for and I have not received any compensation for any of my contributions to Wikipedia. The general purposes of my edits have been to share information/sources which I have discovered while working with archival collections (as stated in my user profile). This type of work is encouraged by Wikipedia, but I haven't kept up with Wikipedia's guidelines & I was unaware that it was recommended that I should also state my interest/affiliation in my profile page. I have now updated this information.

I edited article in question in 2018 because it was written like an advertisement and very few changes had been made to the text since it was initially created. I was trying to make the page more neutral and make sure it just stated facts. I wasn't aware at the time of the guidelines for editors with a conflict of interest or I would have suggested my edits in the talk page first.

Since then I have watched kept an eye on the article, but I felt I had to respond to edits which were made by an anonymous editor on 11 April. I have stated my reasoning for making these changes on the talk page of the article. The additional edits I made after 6th May were in response to further recommendations made by ArchivesandLetters. There was no bias intended in my edits and my recent edits were statements of historical facts which I tried to keep as neutral as possible and backed-up with verifiable references. If other editors believe that the sources I used are biased they are free to make changes & add their own verifiable sources. I didn’t respond to the further comments by ArchivesandLetters as I was still working on edits following the initial recommendations and haven’t had the chance to address their further comments.

As mentioned below, comments on this page have now made me aware of the current guidance about conflict of interest. While I am affiliated with the organisation I will only interact with the article following the guidelines regarding editors with a conflict of interest.K8tmoon (talk) 20:34, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Until ArchivesandLetters mentioned it on this page I wasn’t aware of the current scope of the conflict of interest guidance.
