Disambiguation link notification for July 25 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Si3 (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kamlesh (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:25, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

MOS:BOLDFACE edit

Re: this, we don't typically use boldface randomly in articles. Bolded text is primarily used in the lead when highlighting the article subject. There are some exceptions, but these uses do not qualify. See MOS:BOLDFACE. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:45, 9 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Sorry & Thanks. {{Jyothu (User talk:Jyothu))
Here you add a Wikilink for "Miss". Why? Nobody who is familiar with English will ever have a question about what "Miss" means. We don't use Wikilinks for common words/concepts. See WP:OVERLINK. In the same edit, you inserted an ampersand (&). We do not use ampersands in professional prose, barring a few exceptions, like if a title includes &. Otherwise, use "and" instead, please.
Here you didn't capitalise the T in Tamil. In English, we capitalise proper nouns.
Lastly, please sign your posts with four tildes, like ~~~~. This will append your name and a time stamp, so that other editors know who wrote what and when, like this → Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:55, 9 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

New images edit

Hey, on the images that you uploaded that were from another website, did you make sure there is no copyright on them or a restrictive license? Especially on a living person, Wikipedia cannot use just any image you find online, but only images that are considered free. If they aren't free, they will be deleted from Commons. Free refers to the license, not just that you're able to download it from any given website. Ravensfire (talk) 05:00, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Can you please explain it please ?
What is the exact URL where you got the images? On Commons, you link to the website, but in order to check if Wikipedia can use the image, you really need to give the full image. If the website copyrights the images, they can't be used here. There needs to be an explicit statement that images can be used for ANY purpose, not just non-commercial only. You cannot simply take an image you find online and use it here. Ravensfire (talk) 05:20, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have provided the correct source in that options according to the main figures (total 3 pictures which i provided for each articles).Sorry if I have done any mistakes as i was not used to it but trying to learn those things with your advices.Thank you for your support and valuable informations.@Ravensfire
( User talk:Jyothu ) , 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Okay, it's pretty obvious you just took images from online and didn't bother to check if they are actually free. They aren't. I've requested all of them to be deleted as you've basically stolen the images and uploaded them to Wikipedia. That could get us in trouble for copyright violations. You can't do that, okay? Read the Image Use Policy for some help on this. Please note that for any living person, the fair use cannot be used on Wikipedia. Ravensfire (talk) 15:13, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Varathan edit

The article Varathan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication that principal photography has begun, which, per WP:NFF is mandatory for upcoming film releases. Per the guideline: "Films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles, as budget issues, scripting issues and casting issues can interfere with a project well ahead of its intended filming date. The assumption should also not be made that because a film is likely to be a high-profile release it will be immune to setbacks—there is no "sure thing" production ... Sources must be used to confirm the start of principal photography after shooting has begun."

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:07, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Provided proper proof for First look poster of the Upcoming Film Varathan.Instead of Principle Photography the team(director) has revealed First Look Poster of Main Lead.
For films, Wikipedia generally requires that principle photography has begun to show notability and for WP:CRYSTAL reasons. Ravensfire (talk) 15:57, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Jyothu, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Kaatrin Mozhi have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Your edit here has a couple of problems. First and foremost, you directly copied the text from the article. That's a copyright problem and you cannot do that. You need to summarize the information from the source into your own words. Close paraphrasing where you change a few minor words around is also not acceptable. The second problem was adding what amounts to trivia and sensational text. That's not what Wikipedia is for - it's an encyclopedia, not an entertainment column. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 04:47, 16 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

References edit

Hi there, re: these changes, please quickly familiarise yourself with WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources for a short list of sites that are, and are not considered reliable in the context of Indian entertainment. We do not use blogs. Period. Sites like Pycker.com and kalakkalcinema.com are insufficient. Please stick to mainstream sites--news outlets like Times of India, Bangalore Mirror, Deccan Herald, etc. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:14, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Maanaadu‎ edit

Articles on film should not exist until they have begun proper shooting, per WP:NFF: "Films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles, as budget issues, scripting issues and casting issues can interfere with a project well ahead of its intended filming date." In this case, Maanaadu‎ begins shoot only in October, (source: TOI), so it shouldn't have an article until it has begun shoot.

P.S.: It's a Simbu film, and you know how his films like Vaalu, Idhu Namma Aalu and AAA always face production delays. --Kailash29792 (talk) 04:36, 5 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
