Can you explain your objection to the history of racial discrimination on the Edina, Minnesota page?

edit

Hi, Juno. I'm new to Wikipedia and so I hope I'm communicating in a way that will reach you. Can you explain your objection to the history of racial discrimination that you have repeatedly removed from the Edina, Minnesota page? These issues have been well-documented, and the story of the restrictive covenants in the Country Club neighborhood can be found on the city of Edina's own official web page. John from Minneapolis (talk) 21:41, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi John,
Thanks for reaching out. I was concerned (and with regard to much of the proposed wording, still am) that the text was not properly sourced. If you have any questions about proper sourcing, or how to correctly format the citations on any sources that you do come across (the city's website would be gold) please don't be a stranger. Juno (talk) 08:28, 10 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Juno, Just as a heads up. A the Minneapolis StarTribune has run an article referencing the "edit war" about the Edina, MN page. Keep up the good work, the edits made by the other editor were poorly sourced and it doesn't appear they even brought the edits up on the talk page.2601:2:4E00:C662:8097:ABBE:870D:A6F3 (talk) 06:12, 5 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you User:2601:2:4E00:C662:8097:ABBE:870D:A6F3. I am also now concerned that this may constitute a Conflict of Interest with regard to Wikipedia policies. Juno (talk) 08:21, 10 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

JSTOR

Hello Juno,

You said that I was approved for JSTOR access, but I haven't as yet received any email correspondence. Is this normal? Cheers, --ceradon (talkcontribs) 20:07, 21 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ceradon, at present the average turnaround time seems to be around 3 weeks so don't worry! But please keep checking that email and ping me back if you don't have anything by mid-March. Juno (talk) 08:18, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I have a question as well. I was approved for JSTOR access a while ago but when I go to the JSTOR page, I don't know the log in information. Do we need to access it through Wikipedia? Liz Read! Talk! 20:11, 21 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Liz, to clarify: do have an approximate idea of how long ago it was and do you recall if you ever received an email from JSTOR itself? Juno (talk) 08:30, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Juno. I finally found my way back to your talk page! I know I've never received an email from JSTOR and I think I got the okay to use JSTOR in January 2015. That's when I came back to active duty on Wikipedia after being gone for a few months. Liz Read! Talk! 19:07, 4 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Liz, could you please check your spam folder through that time-period? You are correct in that you should have received an email. If you could please just check it see if that spam folder caught it before I run it up the chain I would appreciate it. Juno (talk) 19:27, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Juno, I empty my spam folder at least once a week so I don't even have message in there for early June, much less January or February. Liz Read! Talk! 19:37, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Juno. Thanks for approving my application for JSTOR access. I hate to be a bother, but I just wanted to make sure that everything is going through all right, because I haven't yet received an e-mail from anyone regarding access. I understand from reading above that it could a considerable length of time, so that is probably the reason, but I'd just like to be certain. Thanks very much for your time!-RHM22 (talk) 04:24, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, Scott Walker presidential campaign, 2016

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Scott Walker presidential campaign, 2016. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Scott Walker (politician). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Scott Walker (politician) – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:53, 22 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

JSTOR access

edit

Hi Juno,

I wish to have access to JSTOR.

For now, my interest is on an article titled "The picture postcard as historical evidence: veracruz 1914", to expand on the editing of the article in Spanish on https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocupaci%C3%B3n_estadounidense_de_Veracruz_de_1914.

What do I need to do?

Saludos desde Coyoacán, México. --Wkboonec (talk) 18:05, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi William, I believe that you meet the qualifications and would have a compelling case for sponsored access. I would encourage you to fill out an application here. Please let me know if you have any questions. Juno (talk) 19:55, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Juno. I really appreciate you approving me for JSTOR. And thanks for your kudos on my folklore edits.
I hadn't even noticed this happened a month+ ago, being drawn into prolonged editing debates over Providence (religious movement). But now I have access, I'll go give JSTOR a spin. Thx again! -- Kiyoweap (talk) 07:40, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
As for the Wiki email for the registration, I understand there is a backlog delay for that (having read user:RHM22's message above, dated 04:24, 20 March 2015, above). So I'll wait. I've been picking up bot and wiki user messages by email so I don't believe I missed it.--Kiyoweap (talk) 07:49, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Melanie Maria Toney

edit

The article Melanie Maria Toney has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:BLP1E and WP:NOTNEWS. Will we ever hear about this person again? Of course not.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 04:44, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Keeping in mind WP:FAKEARTICLE (Userspace is not to be used for hosting pseudo-articles that can't survive in mainspace), what are you planning to do with this now that you've requested it be userfied? I know Rhododendrites (talk · contribs) also had some BLP-vio concerns. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 20:19, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Indeed it should not have been resurrected as a pretty clear WP:BLPCRIME issue. She's only notable for one thing, a crime, and has not been convicted of that crime. No objections to working on it offline and bringing it back if she's convicted (and if sources justify it). — Rhododendrites talk \\ 02:43, 26 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
