Image SPURA_Span.jpg - you deleted it without an explanation and before I reload it, please tell me why.

Thank you, and what is (I3 G12) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Judae1 (talkcontribs)

Hi Judae1. See Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion. I3 indicates the image was not free for Wikipedia to use (you uploaded it indicating it was only for use on Wikipedia - see GFDL for why this is not acceptable), and G12 indicates it was a blatant copyright violation from http://www.spura.org. Do not upload this image again. Proto:: 16:34, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
They will need to indicate on the website you took the image from that the image is fully and freely released into the public domain, with no rights reserved. They will retain attribution for the image, but cannot retain owenrship. Proto:: 16:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, I appreciate your intro and direction. I understand the photo issue and will get their approval, but not necessarily with your edit chocies. I hope that is alright as I would want to have a long, posiitve and useful dialoge going forward. Juda S. Engelmayer 19:00, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem - good luck! Proto:: 00:45, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

This image page claims its owner has given up all rights. Can you please forward proof to permissions(at)wikimedia(dot)org? Thank you. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 20:23, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

LoHo

I'm not sure what I did that was deceptive, and I'm more than happy to have a public discussion. When there was a danger of an edit war, I left a message with the user, and I laid out the reason for my edits, both in the edit summaries and in the user talk.

Accusing another use of being deceptive is clearly not WP:AGF, and it's doubly insulting when it comes from a user who has an apparent conflict of interest, and has a history of hiding links to the LoHo in several articles.

Anyway, I see you haven't participated in Talk:LoHo, which I encourage you to do. 24.215.233.72 19:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Claiming advocacy? Please explain.
Also, there is an indeed a conflict of interest when the person who created the LoHo article and has inserted links to the article in every possible article also writes or has in the past written for a newspaper published by LoHo Realty. I realize you might not be a professional journalist, but that's an obvious conflict of interest. Mosmof 20:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

When a newspaper bills itself as "LoHo Realty's Grand Street News", the relationship is more than just advertiser-medium, even if the sponsor isn't directly involved in the process. There's a huge difference between an advertiser and a firm that shows up in the masthead. To claim otherwise is either incredibly naive or disingenuous. And whether you contributed one article or more is irrelevant - you have a professional relationship with a publication whose primary sponsor is LoHo Realty. I'm not trying to be a big meanie about it - that's something you have to accept when you contribute your writing to a newspaper. Mosmof 20:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I see you've edited your comment, but my point remains the same. When a business shows up in a masthead, that's not just an advertiser. "Different ad arrangements" is understating things a little. Mosmof 20:36, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Loho Deletion attempt

Deletion was something that was suggested from the start, but I couldn't do it because I hadn't set up an account yet. And as I had mentioned in a discussion re: previous edits, I saw Afd as an independent issue from the article links. Mosmof 21:12, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Couple of things:
  • When you respond to something in Afd, don't do it inline - it gets hard to read. Start a paragraph below and indent.
  • Per Wikipedia guidelines, a mention of a term isn't enough. The article has to be about the term.
  • I'm not part of any group. Stop worrying about who I am - it's creepy and borderline stalker-ish. Just contest the deletion on its merits and it'll go away. Mosmof 21:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'd been too lazy to sign up. But I do live in the Lower East Side, so it's a subject I have a lot of interest and, I like to think, a little expertise in. I do plan to widen my range of subjects though. As far as the LoHo thing, if it takes hold, so be it. But right now, it's little more than a novelty used by a few locals, trying-way-too-hard types and a few writers. Yeah, it's around, but not notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article - I like my Wikipedia without trivial stuff, and I can certainly do without lies like "the area commonly known as LoHo".

And you still haven't explained the hidden Wikilinks to LoHo. What was that about?

Also, the "stalker-ish" thing was harsh. I apologize - it was unnecessary. But again, don't worry about me. If the Afd fails, I won't be happy, but my life will go on. Mosmof 21:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

There is no such thing is a delete/keep aisle. I was responding to a comment, so my entry goes under the comment. Please look at other Afd entries and see how things work before moving other people's comments. Mosmof 23:36, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Again, it would really behoove you to look at other Afd entries to see how things are done, so you don't do things like move other people's comments out of context or add sections/references. And please stop creating a section every time you post a comment on my User Talk page - it's unnecessary and annoying. Please use indents instead. Mosmof 23:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 23:41, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

5W Public Relations

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article 5W Public Relations, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Ytny 13:41, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. I've responded at Talk:5W Public Relations. I think it's a borderline case - I'm not sure the firm has much significance to the general public, but Agency of the Year isn't trivial either. Ytny 16:52, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

AfD Nomination: SPURA

An editor has nominated the article SPURA for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SPURA. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article SPURA during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. RFA

Hi Judae1. To nominate yourself for adminship, you'll first have to create a subpage, as explained at WP:GRFA. After that, you can list it WP:RFA. If you have any other questions, you can ask on WT:RFA or my talkpage. Picaroon 17:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I think it was because your username wasn't capitalized - so I've moved it to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Judae1. Picaroon 17:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I would encourage you to withdraw the nomination. Honestly, you have no real chance of being promoted at this time. Please read Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship#Things to consider before accepting a nomination. GRBerry 18:22, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, the standards for adminship are fairly tight. The standards for participation are almost completely open - the only people who can't participate are those that did participate but proved more trouble than they were worth. (Generally, those who actively try to make the encyclopedia worse, or those who through long term sustained experience were just too much trouble to work with.) An example of someone whose starting contributions were quite painful, but who has turned over a new leaf and looks likely to become an admin, see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Daniel.Bryant 2, especially question 3. (The 2 in the link indicates his second time standing for adminship.)
We have lots (ok, way too much) guidance on how things work on pages in the Wikipedia: namespace. Some of it even conflicts, see the discussion between me and Addhoc at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of megachurches. That you don't demonstrate awareness of how things work is why you shouldn't be given the administrative tools yet.
That you want to learn more is a good sign for the future. You'll learn by clicking on links to pages in the Wikipedia space, reading them, reading in their talk pages, and watching the community function over time. Wikipedia:Consensus and Wikipedia:Consensus can change are our policies on what consensus means here. Wikipedia:Deletion policy is the general deletion policy, Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion is the policy for speedy deletions (essentially - delete on sight), Wikipedia:Proposed deletion is the policy for proposed deletion (essentially - delete if nobody objects and it has never been discussed previously), Wikipedia:Deletion process covers the multiple processes by which content can be deleted, Wikipedia:Guide to deletion tries to explain both, and Wikipedia:Deletion guidelines for administrators is the guidance for administrators on closing deletion discussions. And all of those pages have see also related content.
We also have lots (again, too many) of guidelines on what is notable enough to write an article that will adhere to the core content policies. Wikipedia:Notability is the best launching point for exploring these guidelines.
As a quick synopsis, consensus here generally is determined by what gets said in the discussion, so long as the group is attempting to adhere to policy (required) and either is adhering to guidelines or alternatively is making a very compelling case for a variation. The latter is needed because guidelines reflect a larger scale consensus, usually originating in several discussions in several spheres. This is discussed more fully at Wikipedia:Consensus. Admins are encouraged to mentally overweight opinions arguing from policy and guidelines, and totally ignore bare votes. You can also read Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions.
Seeing how all this works is best done by regular participation, both in deletion discussions and in working on articles.
An admin has access to all the administrative tools, so the community has to trust them with all of them. The above is a good launching point for learning about deletions. Others would be better to guide you on other aspects of participation here, but Wikipedia:Requests for comment can be a reasonable launching point. GRBerry 22:00, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Abraham E Kazan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Abraham E Kazan.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Herman Jessor and Abraham E. Kazan

Thanks for creating the articles on Herman Jessor and Abraham E. Kazan. These have been missing for far to long. -- Petri Krohn 01:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I see you have also created United Housing Foundation, also long missing. The article could benefit from material List of New York City housing cooperatives. I had to move this to my personal space after creation (Petri Krohn/List of New York City housing cooperatives) because of drive-by deletionism, but I see it has now re-entered article space :-) --- Petri Krohn 01:56, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
The Museum of the City of New York held an exhibition on Amalgamated Housing Cooperative between November 9, 2004 — March 20, 2005 titeled Radicals In The Bronx. [1]. Deletion review comments

Ah, I'm not good at detecting subtle humor online, and I noticed afterwards that I missed your reference to the Loho in Philippines (?).

Anyway, it looks some we have some common interest, being Lower East Siders and all, so I'm sure we'll Wiki-run into each other. Best. Ytny 19:22, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Carole E. Handler

I've nominated Carole E. Handler, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Carole E. Handler satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carole E. Handler and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Carole E. Handler during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. --Edcolins 20:28, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

SPURA

Please do not take this personally, as I assume you are the creator of the article in question...but the article does not look very well written (i.e., the acronym in the title, the awkward headings) and there isn't even an article about Seward Park itself, which calls into question the significance of the Seward Park Urban Renewal Area. Remove my tag if it should be removed, but I don't think it should be all that much of a surprise that it's often viewed as a candidate for deletion. Best, Paul 17:57, 12 February 2007 (UTC) (P.S. what is a "contact debate?") P.P.S. Please please do not take the above personally. It seems that we are of the same sentiment when it comes to housing in NYC - I'm one of the many who work there but cannot afford to live there. Paul 17:59, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree completely...I'd create it myself but I'm unfamiliar with the area. Paul 18:10, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Carole E. Handler

Apologies about the brutal charge. I did not mean to be rude. The article is improving, and I am thinking about withdrawing my deletion nomination... but why on earth is she in the category Patent attorney? She seems pretty much focussed on anything but patent law? Am I right? --Edcolins 21:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Can you cite a source in the article for that point? She does not appear in the USPTO database of patent attorneys and agents. Thanks. --Edcolins 21:29, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Your userpage

I've removed a fair portion of the text you had posted on your userpage, as it seems to violate the Wikipedia:Userpage guidelines, particularly the rules against self-promotion. I realize this is in a gray region. Also: please remember WP:COI in your editing. I think you've crossed the lines recently. -- Michaelbusch (talk) 21:16, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

You removed it all, not just a good portion. I'm not certain your total edit is justified and I do need to build a bio page for myself. There seem to be thousands of sites where people talk about what they do. Edit my Wiki work, fine; why my own page that helps people know who I am and what my interests are?

The Wiki guideline states: "Excessive personal information (more than a couple of pages) unrelated to Wikipedia" I don't think my one graph was more than a couple of pages.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Judae1 (talkcontribs)

Length wasn't the issue: I removed that which seemed to be advertisement or personal aggrandizement. Some of the material is acceptable if re-written, and should indeed be included because your COI should be evident. While you are allowed some latitude in your userpage, there are still limits (as described in Wikipedia:Userpage. Also, please stand down on your edit-warring for the moment: you have a blatant conflict-of-interest, which you admit to, but which is obviously causing problems. Michaelbusch (talk) 23:06, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for cleaning up your userpage so that it no longer reads like an advertisement. However, I must again ask you to step back from your edit-war. I appreciate very well that the other side of the editing dispute likely also has a COI, and have given them the same warning. Michaelbusch (talk) 23:40, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ronn Torossian

This is a rather bizarre AfD. I must admit that I have never seen a nomination for deletion that did a better job of explaining why the article and its subject were notable. I had another recent AfD where there were a dozen editors adding and deleting text from the article and arguing at AfD, where a checkuser found that about ten of these accounts were sockpuppets. The same seems to be the case here. These articles were more than acceptable before this AfD debacle started and have only improved with further edits. Calling this whole process a sham only gives it more validity than it deserves. Alansohn (talk) 18:15, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Rabbi Prinz.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Rabbi Prinz.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Rinat Akhmetov.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:37, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Silver S.gif

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Silver S.gif.

STBotI (talk) 06:09, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:5W Logo.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:5W Logo.JPG.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi

Hey -- I just thought I'd drop you a hello. I wandered onto the Bugsy Siegel article and saw a neat photograph of his plaque in the Bialystoker -- made me laugh! On another note, I notice the jumble of edit counters on your user page -- if you'd like me to make you a custom-edit counter to appear at the top right of your page (see my user and talk pages), I will. Let me know. Good Shabbos! DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 18:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Haha...there are no terms. I generated a new page, User:Judae1/Head, and placed it as a template on both your user and talk pages. If you don't like it, you can remove it, and if you're interested in utilizing a different edit counter, you can modify if by working out the proper HTML on this new template page. Eh...I figure it just looks a bit more professional than having a section on your userpage indicating links to 4 or 5 different edit counters, etc. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 15:54, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Couple of things

  1. I don't know you, and I wouldn't recognize you if I saw you on the street, and I have nothing against you personally. I just don't like your firm's Wikipedia sock/meatpuppets.
  2. 5WPR actually consists a tiny part of my activities on Wikipedia. Honestly, I'd rather work on other articles, but there has been a lot of activity lately and there's repairing to be done and I feel somewhat invested. But since there are other editors working on it now, I'm thinking about dropping the article from my watchlist, or just make small, style- copyedits.
  3. My goal is not to get you blocked, and it's not up to me anyway. If you say you're not the IP editor/Emetman who has been disruptive in 5W Public Relations article and elsewhere, then I apologize for making that assumption. I understand that you do a lot of good work in non-5W related articles, and I wouldn't mind if you actually took part in editing the article, since unlike other accounts originating from your office, you actually state your association with the firm. I just thought it was too much coincidence for all these editors to be making the same type of edits, responding to other editors with the same tone and making the same accusations against me (remember when you accused me of working for the Lower East Side BID?). I think it would go a long way If you discussed possible edits in the talk page, pointed out obvious errors or POV issues, voiced objections without getting defensive. Look, I'll stay out of your way, and I just ask that you drop the conspiracy theory. --Mosmof (talk) 04:38, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. Whatever our differences, I think we can agree to just let bygones be bygones. You have your suspicions about me, and I'm perfectly fine with that, as long as it doesn't affect my editing here. Though I should point out that having conflict of interest isn't necessarily a bad thing - it just means you have to tread a little lighter, but editors tend to appreciate transparency and are willing to work with you (Talk:Toby Young is an example).. Mosmof (talk) 16:19, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Rabbi Romm

Do you know when Rabbi Singer died and when Rabbi Romm started -- I figured it would be nice to include it in the article. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 14:55, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:VARIATIONS-tournee.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:VARIATIONS-tournee.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 18:55, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Judae1! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Conflict of interest related to your public relations activities

You know there's no excuse for the edits you're making related to your position at 5WPR. This has to go to WP:COIN; would you like to make the report? Flowanda | Talk 04:19, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Just for the benefit of other talk page stalkers, this appears to relate to Michael Wildes, the article about whom was very recently created by Judae1; Google suggests that Michael Wildes is now a client of Judae1's employer. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 05:49, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
No. I pass on whatever sad sick game you and all y'all are playing. Flowanda | Talk 07:34, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Well... I think Judae1's edits to Michael Wildes are a conflict of interest. You think they aren't? Or you just think some other edits are a conflict of interest too? If so, would you be kind enough to provide some pointers to them? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 07:56, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Wiki rules require that anyone in a position like mine be open about who he is and be sure to be careful on any edits. Anyone can claim that there is a COI with the article, but editors and Admins need to discuss it and find the issues - or find a reason why this individual is not notable enough for Wikipedia. I didn't write anything that isn't backed up by valid sources, nor did I make any statements that cut against the grain of Wiki's rules for biographies of live persons. I understand that some editors have issues with anyone who knows someone or has any interest in a subject of a Wiki article, but Wiki's rules do not forbid it, it advises caution and responsibility.

--Juda S. Engelmayer (talk) 13:39, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

My understanding is that it goes a little further than your just knowing him or having an interest. Isn't it correct that in fact he is a client of your PR firm?
If that is the case, then yes the COI policy does not go as far as outright banning you from creating or editing an article about him. However, it does say that you should make the conflict of interest clear on the talk page for the article (which you have not); it also strongly encourages you not to create or edit articles about him; it also emphasises the importance of WP:NPOV being adhered to. On that last point, although the article is not an utter disaster in terms of NPOV, it's certainly far from neutral.
I am not claiming that Wildes is not notable (I imagine he almost certainly is notable), nor am I claiming that anything you have put in the article is not in the sources (I haven't checked every single statement). But the other concerns remain. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:04, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Noted, Thank you

Close paraphrasing

Please take the time to read Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. This is a relatively recent development in Wikipedia practice, and also is generally not that well known or understood. Some of your edits in 2009 had issues with this, but the problematic text has since been removed; I haven't found any more recent examples in your edits, but I haven't had time to review thoroughly. Just something to be aware of. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 05:57, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Actually I apologise for and withdraw the suggestion "some of your edits in 2009 had issues with this". I was looking at the article history of Yoshiyahu_Yosef_Pinto early in that article's existence. However, after going through it edit by edit, although you edited and retained sentences with problematic material, the problems were actually originally introduced by User:Babasalichai who edited the same article immediately before and immediately after you. These problems are characteristic of their editing style, which you don't share.
Incidentally, I might drop you an email about Babasalichai, as they have turned into a bit of a nuisance and you might be able to get a message to them :)
Sorry for the confusion. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:12, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

You've got mail (a while ago)

Hi Juda, just a quick note to mention that I emailed you (through Wikipedia) last Friday, about a problematic user. Obviously you're under no obligation to tell me anything, but I'm more than a little curious as to your thoughts on it. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:23, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Possibly we have crossed wires here... did my email reach you? It would've gone to whatever email account you used to register your Wikipedia account. If you replied, I didn't receive it. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 07:56, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Jacob Ostreicher

The article Jacob Ostreicher has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 21:45, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello! I am not a bot

Per the WP:RFC and WP:FRS guidelines, I respectfully request your feedback regarding a question of law.

Should the Ugg boots trademark disputes article include example cases of counterfeit consumer goods? Is the counterfeiting of brand name goods a "trademark dispute" when the counterfeiters are taken to court? One editor has raised a WP:NPOV concern, since the only case (out of many under discussion involving Australian companies) that has been lost by the Australian company is being excluded; he feels that excluding it leaves the impression that Australian companies "are as pure as the driven snow, and can do no wrong." Also, another editor has claimed that the introduction of example cases of counterfeiting "dilute" the discussion about whether the word "UGG" is a generic term, and therefore ineligible for trademark protection.

Please respond to the survey here with "Support" if you believe counterfeiting is a trademark dispute when taken to court, or "Oppose" if you believe the reverse is true. Thank you. Phoenix and Winslow (talk) 15:55, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:SPURA Span.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:SPURA Span.jpg, which you've attributed to A VRT notice was applied over 30 day(s) ago, but no message at VRTS has been found since this tag was applied.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:17, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Please join the discussion on Talk:Glengarry Glen Ross (film)

Hello! I am soliciting comments for an RfC that is currently open on the "Glengarry Glen Ross (film)" page. There is disagreement about where the film was set (New York vs. Chicago).

One of the issues is whether it is original research to cite to elements in the film itself (including props, dialogue, and a statement in the end credits that it was "filmed on location in New York City") to establish setting.

Response so far in the RfC has been mixed. Comments welcome! Xanthis (talk) 13:25, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you. Jytdog (talk) 13:18, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Juda the history there is really shameful. Please see this article; this statement by PR firms: Wikipedia:Statement_on_Wikipedia_from_participating_communications_firms, and this wikipedia article: Conflict-of-interest editing on Wikipedia, if you are not aware of them.
Whatever you can do to shut this down, would be a good thing for 5W and Ross, and for Wikipedia. This is going to get to the press, eventually. I won't do it, but the press loves this stuff. Jytdog (talk) 13:33, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
this obvious socking - -really, nothing you can do about this? Is 5W this undisciplined, really? Jytdog (talk) 16:16, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Ronn Torossian's picture

The picture you uploaded got deleted by a BOT for copyright violation, and the article infobox was without a picture. For the time being, I restored the version with the old picture.

If you upload a more recent picture that meets copyright rules, send me a note on my talk page, and I will update the article. You probably should keep your hands off, especially considering the latest explosion on the talk page.

Regards, --Ravpapa (talk) 17:19, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi,

I am responding to the post you left on my talk page. I am not an expert in these matters, but as I understand it, it isn't a question of your right to distribute the picture to whom you please, which you certainly have, since you are the owner of the copyright. It is a question of the nature of the copyright itself. In order to upload a picture to Commons, it must have a free use license - that is to say, it must have a Creative Commons 3.0 Share-alike license (one of the options when you upload the picture). If you specify that the picture is your own work (or that you are the owner of the rights to it), and that you grant a CC 3.0 license, there should be no problem.

Bear in mind, though, that giving the picture a free-use license means you surrender all rights to the picture. You can't complain if someone takes the picture and adds a sweet potato growing out of the head. You can rely on me not to do that, but I can't vouch for others.

Good luck, and if you succeed, tell me and I will replace the current pic. --Ravpapa (talk) 05:40, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

You boys should have quit while you were ahead. This version of the article makes Ronn out to be a lot nicer than the current version. Things are going from bad to worse. Maybe you should consider changing tactics. --Ravpapa (talk) 13:11, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

TWL HighBeam check-in

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,

You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Jason Galanis

The article Jason Galanis has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Nothing here suggests fully satisfying the applicable notability guidelines with none of the sources being solid in-depth third-party coverage and finally, my searches finding nothing better.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
