Prison education

Thank you for your interest in the article Prison education. Unfortunately I have removed your contribution, though I am going to explain why I did this so as to not discourage you from making further contributions to Wikipedia.

The lead section of an article should summarise the most important parts in the body of an article. For this reason, you should not put anything in the lead that does not appear in the body. Even if your information did appear in the body, I would argue that it is not one of the most important parts of the article, and therefore should not appear in the lead. I have decided to not relocate your information to the body of the article, as this article focuses on prison literacy and education at a worldwide level, and I am trying to avoid having information from individual states or prisons unless nationwide statistics cannot be found. We already have nationwide statistics for prison literacy in the US, so at this stage I do not want to incorporate your information. I have, however, moved it to the article's talk page, so that we can easily find and add it back to the article if we ever want to use it in the future.

It can be very tricky to get started editing Wikipedia. There are many guidelines and accepted formatting standards and you will likely have several of your contributions reverted before you get the hang of things, and unfortunately some people will not explain why they have done this. Please do not feel discouraged. We all had to start somewhere and I watched many of my edits being reverted when I got started editing Wikipedia ten years ago. Take the feedback on board and learn where and when to add and not add information and i'm sure your efforts will be improving the encyclopedia in no time.
