Great Divergence

Hey, there.

I should have left a note on the talk page, but I judged (perhaps unjustly) that the section 'the east stopped trying' was a tad biased, in essence it repeated earlier sections about the maintained of equilibrium in Asian economies, and it was improperly cited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by174.113.40.40 (talk) 23:58, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Dear editor, If you want your edits to stick you should provide an edit summary explaining your reasons for deleting an entire section (even if that section is poorly sourced) otherwise it looks like vandalism or disputed content. I think your rationale as set out above is entirely reasonable so free to make that edit again but this time ... etc Jschnur (talk) 00:11, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to the anti-vandal club

I see you have been busy on Huggle. I have not studied your edits at length, but they seem to be appropriate and your tone is civil. You'll surely make mistakes, as we all do sometimes, but I'm sure the folks at CVUA taught you to remain humble. In any case, thanks for keeping Wikipedia vandal-free. Edit on Live Looper Article from August 2012

Hi there. Ive just noticed your removal of the External Link I added to the Live Looping page. Ive read the Policy page cited and believe I understand the criteria for acceptable and unacceptable external links. The External Links on this page appear to be a collection of artists that engage in the performance of this style of music. Perhaps that section should be renamed "Live Looping Artists". Regardless, none of the artists that are listed would qualify as a "Recognized Authority" in this emerging performance style. Certianly the artist whose work I linked would be no more or less valid than the other artists whose links were not removed. I choose to link a Youtube page directly as it contained the most obvious examples of Live Looping this artist has available publically. Should I have instead linked their homepage? Thank You. 108.233.201.74 (talk) 00:40, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Dear editor, I removed the YouTube link because of copyright concerns. I could be wrong in this case but much of YouTube's content is problematic. If you are certain that copyright is not an issue, please reinstate your edit. The same may apply to the artist's homepage and the same question must be asked. Thank you for taking the time to discuss this problem. Happy editing.Jschnur (talk) 03:15, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

I am confused by careless deletionism by users who otherwise appear to have positive intentions. I would welcome an illumination of this behavior. Keitsist (talk) 01:09, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Dear Keitsist, I assume you are referring to the Teknekron Corporation article. At the point in time I added the deletion template there was little or no assertion of notability. Your subsequent addition of references has alleviated this. Please accept my apology if I have caused you any offence. My intentions are indeed positive and while I do not believe I was careless, a simple google search would have shown sufficient notability. Mea Culpa. Having said that, there is an onus on editors creating new articles to assert and verify notability. Best. Jschnur (talk) 01:56, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your candid response and your humility, J. Yes, that is what I was referring to. I wasn't so much offended as I was irritated at being coerced yet again to scramble to justify the inclusion of an article by the subjective standards of an editor who had already demonstrated an unfamiliarity with the subject matter by ignoring the statement, added four minutes before your tag, that Teknokron created Tibco. A reader who either is familiar with the software industry, or chooses to make the effort to follow the wikilink, would recognize the significance. It is this haste to tag without due diligence that irritates me because it borders on the subtle arrogance that appears to taint the water in the camps of patrolling editors.
If it is your position that significance by reference is not sufficient then I submit that grabbing the information about significance from the referenced article is a more positive course of action than requesting a delete.
I see that you have untagged for deletion, which is good and right. I hope that in future you will continue to strive for a high level of diligence in your review of content and that you keep up your good work. Kind regards, Keitsist (talk) 04:06, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

General Bill Enyart

You practically deleted the entire article. My additions were all sourced, almost exclusively from established newspapers. I've never understood this argument from people who don't like politics that say it's better to have no information at all, than to have even a small amount of information that might be biased. If it's inaccurate, you ought to take it down, but otherwise, stop censoring.

Dear editor, You will note that I deleted not only your contribution but the previous one (both reliably referenced I admit) for the reason of lacking neutrality and only present because of a looming election (see WP:Recentism) and not really stuff for an encyclopaedia (which of course is what this place is). Page Curation newsletter - closing up!

Hey all :).

We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.

However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.

Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:28, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jschnur. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Digit-Box, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at thesuggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. The page was not gibberish or patent nonsense. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:20, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Kudpung. Thank you for your note. My apologies for not replying earlier (I was off wiki). On reflection I totally agree with your CSD decline on the grounds I posited, it should have been PRODded or AFDed. I wish there was a speedy criteria for incompetence because that article was beyond poor. I reread that one many times and tried to follow its premise and found it bordered on incomprehensible. In the end it is a moot point as it appears to have been speedily deleted by JamesBWatson for G2. Regards. Jschnur (talk) 22:19, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Not true

Not True

13:53, 6 October 2012 (UT

I did not ad a own Analysis as you claim I have I have corrected the contents with Political /Historically correct information The actual situation as it Really happened not this vulgar foreign observation by people whom have never even set foot in Indonesia know nothing about our actual infrastructure , and writing their propagated version of what what they think that happened but post this preposterous incorrect perspective view Which is an Insult to my country a insult to the victims of this great tragedy,

You this is supposed to be a encyclopedia but shows harmful anti Indonesian views Mostly written by Pro-Dutch anti Indonesian collaborators, Who ever since the end of the Revolution have been spreading lies and propaganda against Indonesia and as hypocrite as it sounds Their allies US & Great Britain support their version they still spread lies about us in their media Such as BBC & CNN,

indonesia indeed have had comflicts concerning Chinese Ethnics But they were not race related such as others Claim , That the Chinese provoked it by allowing the manifestation of communism isn't spoken off That Mao zedong ordered Indonesia to expel all KMT Chinese in a post war period when we had little friends and were in the burst of out break Of War with The Empire of Britain and the Kingdom of the Netherlands we did what we had to obtain friendship with China

And on the same time Mao double crushed Soekarno arming The Communists to take overthrow the government

Using soekarno to as their puppet

But yet the truth is not accepted by western media They just want their version of truth to be posted for the world to see But the actual historical facts are not accepted and censored The Actual Indonesian history as it truly happened is being called offensive And you say its about neutrality but censoring the actual historical facts of my Nations greatest tragedy Is not neutral its accepting the notion that is being manifested here It is accepted the anti Indonesian lies spoken and you dare to call my alterations harmful ? It's Hypocrite , further more I information is not a personal analysis I have my information from the actual source Not foreign media that in reality know nothing about my country knowing nothing about our history Spreading their propagated anti Indonesian versions and you dare to accuse me I am offended

I dare not make up falls information about the 1965 Tragedy I do not make up stories about My Nations greatest tragedy I am a Indonesian Citizen and am well aware of the happenings of this period And my sources are from people whom were actually there on the frontline Whom have actually witnessed the happenings of 1965 both Politically And Armed forces My information comes from the actual military correspondence between The Military command and Peoples Assembly (MPR) so do not offend my knowledge and reliability on the subject For you it is perhaps just a mere subject with little meaning but for me I've spend years reading and doing actually research on the subject Thats why I can correct and why I am offended by these claims

Dear Editor, Please do not be offended by my deletion of your edits. Wikipedia is not about the truth but by what can be verified from reliable sources. For your contribution to be accepted it must be supported by references tosecondary sources, please see [1], and be expressed in a neutral tone. Seriously? You weren't warning the user for that edit. You gave two warnings specifically for "vandalism" on the Road Trip (film) article. Besides, are you seriously going to point out an edit from three weeks ago from an IP? You do realize that many people can potentially share an IP address and that IP addresses can change each time you log on? There's no way to know if that's the same person behind those edits. Take a look at WP:AGF. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 00:13, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Dead White Males

Mr. Marx and Lenin were certainly not part of the `white' stereotype. Now that they're dead, they haven't become white. In fact, their work represents significant modern European and Russian work that is directly at odds with the conservative `white' (Anglo-Saxon-Nodic) viewpoint, and their ethnicities were different too. Either this needs to be clarified, or some strong citation added, or the statement removed entirely. The reader needs to be sure that the usual ideologues covered under the (overly broad, admittedly) term DWM does *not* include these important people. Not everything was done by whites. There are other dead males too!117.197.49.126 (talk) 03:48, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Dear editor, Please read the article carefully. Your edit did not usefully add to the notion of DWM. The addition of "jew" and "slav" I thought was not a neutral contribution, that is why I removed it. If you feel strongly about that passage then alter it in aneutral way, with citations to reliable sources (i.e. No original research). PS: Don't forget to provide an edit summary before you save. This is not a newsletter

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't.
