I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Galerie Chalette

Hi Jonathan--this is my first attempt at an original article for Wikipedia and I have been working on it but finally got to the point that I don't know why I'd keep going without confirmation that it's going to get put up. I'm pretty sure it's a viable article, as the Lejwas were very important during their period. Of course, if you die without family (all your extended relatives having been gassed by the Germans) and leave your fabulous art collection not to the New Yorkers who have been sucking up to you for decades but instead to the state of Israel, it's not surprising that your history doesn't get written alongside of Sidney Janis, Charles Egan, Betty Parsons, and Denise René, etc. I did, in fact, personally know the Lejwas as a teenager. Otherwise, my interest is... mostly intellectual, and the citations should be for the most part solid.
My other question is... when should I stop writing? What's sufficiently encyclopedic? (that's supposed to be taken as one question!) (P.S. As a byproduct of working for the Lejwas, I also fixed up the Leon Polk Smith article, which, I am suspecting, was written by his estate's current gallerists. Also Robert Engman's, which I think might have been put in by a former student? If you have time, and I know it's not so much your area of specialty, I'd appreciate you looking at those pages too. My thought is that I'm going to work through a bunch of the constructivists, painters and sculptors, and cross reference gallery & museum references &c.) My recommendation for a first article would be a shorter article very much concentrating on the subject, with references concentrating on the subject itself. This article is very discursive as it stands. Considering the references that actually mention the subject, 2 and 5 should be combined into one reference, e.g., "<ref name=X>...</ref>" and then "<ref name=X />". The only other references mentioning the subject directly (in the title) are 17, 18, 20, so only four references total. More on the subject and much less not directly on the subject would be better. You can always build up articles later. I hope this helps and good luck. You are obviously an excellent researcher (and writer), which is just what Wikipedia needs IMHO, but I am afraid that is not necessarily what Wikipedia admins are looking for, they are following Wikipedia "rules"! It would be incredibly helpful if you could cut it down to the essentials--if it would not take too much of your time. It would be extremely useful for me, as I am trying to learn the form here. And, obviously (at least from my POV, and perhaps a view not sufficiently wary/respectful of Wikipedia Admins!) I submitted the draft before it was done, because I figured that would be the quickest way to learn what was wanted/required. Don't feel concerned about my writerly feelings--my understanding of the form is that anything important can be added back in a more appropriate wikipedia-centric style. And, yes. Discursive style. I'm trying to adjust that.

I'm feeling no sense of rush here, other than wanting to steepen my learning curve so I minimize unnecessary/irrelevent-to-this-project work on my end.

Titles/citations. Okay, as you can imagine I'm reading and rereading your post for the takeaways. So... the NYT article Pepis, Betty, Art Travels From Walls To the Floor; Accent on the Floor wouldn't count as a citation? To me, this article, which shows the Galerie's power in getting heavy-hitters like Picasso, Calder, and Leger to submit rug-designs to the gallery is a pretty huge deal (also humorous, but that's besides the point). Is there a possible way to include a reference like this in a way that counts towards Wikipedia's metric as a citation, or is this too much like original research, which I know is discouraged. Again--I'm sure you have other things going on--I have too much free time on my hands this week (and for a forseeable couple of weeks at least, because... coronavirus restrictions where I am living). I created an edited version of Galerie Chalette. One comment I have is to be very factual on Wikipedia and not to use "peacock" terms like "most interesting", "vigorous force", etc. I toned down the article by removing these.
