Welcome edit

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Respect copyrights - do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
  • Maintain a neutral point of view - this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! —SpaceFlight89 09:59, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

June 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article India and weapons of mass destruction, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -MBK004 04:28, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to List of converts to Islam. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Jayjg (talk) 05:27, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to List of converts to Islam. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. McGeddon (talk) 09:14, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Gauhar jaan.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Gauhar jaan.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 02:57, 3 August 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 02:57, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Indianshealth edit

A tag has been placed on Indianshealth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Kudpung (talk) 12:22, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

October 2010 edit

Please do not add or change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. fnlayson (talk) 12:47, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

July 2013 edit

Hello Joydeep ghosh, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to PARAM has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Anir1uph | talk | contrib 10:45, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Vivaan Solar edit

The article Vivaan Solar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:GNG requires multiple reliable independent secondary sources to establish notability. But not a single one of the secondary sources cited in this article even mentions this company and I was not able to find any by Googling. I simply don't believe the required sources exist.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Msnicki (talk) 14:26, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Vivaan Solar for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Vivaan Solar is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vivaan Solar until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Msnicki (talk) 09:04, 16 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Vivaan Solar edit

Do not make a counter-remark for every vote. Your voice matters, but you are only one person. You can not contest votes or comments, this doesn't meetWP:CORP by any stretch of the imagination. Please refrain from doing this in the future. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 16:33, 25 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) i am not trying to contest every vote what i am trying to say is that primary sources and secondary source both are necessary, but if in any wiki page eventhough the secondary source does not add large amount of data despite corroborating the primary source; does it mean the wikipage does not stand a chance. Hope you are able to understand my POV.

19:51, 25 April 2016 (UTC)19:51, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

What he and I have both been trying to explain to you is your page will almost certainly be deleted because it completely fails notability under our guidelines, which you don't appear to have read, and that your behavior in the discussion is becoming disruptive, once again because you don't appear to have read the suggestions on how to participate constructively. What you're doing is like trying to play chess without knowing the difference between a queen and a pawn — or in this case, the difference between a reliable independent secondary source addressing the subject in detail and completely irrelevant junk. It's obvious to everyone except you that you don't know the rules and you're not listening as we try to explain them. Msnicki (talk) 21:22, 25 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear Msnicki (talk) 21:22, 25 April 2016 (UTC) i am not here to argue, have gone through the guidelines, my simple contention is if a reliable independent secondary source that adds content certainly helps but if a reliable independent secondary source (in this case notable govt sources that cant be termed as 'junk') corroborates the primary source it should also help. I ask again your help to how to improve the vivaan solar wikipage.Reply

04:42, 26 April 2016 (UTC)04:42, 26 April 2016 (UTC)~~

Yes, your "government sources" are junk. Sorry. They are basically just listings showing the company exists, nothing more, and are thus completely unhelpful in establishing notability. There is nothing that can be done to improve your article unless you can find better sources. Msnicki (talk) 06:49, 26 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from INS Darshak into INS Sarvekshak. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:05, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:Nicobar troopship.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Nicobar troopship.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 13:01, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:INS Tarasa.jpeg edit

A tag has been placed on File:INS Tarasa.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Dredger 1 edit

I've again redirected Dredger 1 Class to Dredger 1 since, as far as I can tell, both articles are about the same thing. We don't maintain duplicate articles about the same topic. If you want to provide an alternate title that people might search for to find information about something having an article, that's what redirects are for. Note that if "Dredger 1 Class" weren't at least a reasonable choice for a redirection title, then the page would be deleteable altogether under the provision WP:CSD A10. Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Dredger 1 Class. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Dredger 1. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Dredger 1. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Largoplazo (talk) 16:54, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:INS Bitra (T66).jpeg edit

Thank you for uploading File:INS Bitra (T66).jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 13:46, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:INS Arihant (S73).jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:INS Arihant (S73).jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 15:42, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

hi dont know what else i can do, if the websites t&c from where i took the pic dont mention anything what can i do about it Joydeep ghosh (talk) 19:39, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, the problem is that you assigned the {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} licence to the image. You can only assign a new licence if you own the rights (e.g. if you took the photograph). The source website says "The Content is owned and/or controlled by NDTV and/or its respective licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws."[1] This means that you should not upload images from the website to Wikipedia. Verbcatcher (talk) 01:36, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

hi Verbcatcher thanks for the advise will keep a note of that btw i am forwarding this link, dont know why this pic was removed, the website doesnt say anything about copyright or terms of use except all right reserved, so cant this be used:-http://www.indiastrategic.in/topstories3628_Indias_First_Nuclear_Attack_Submarine_Arihant_begins_Sea_Trials.htm

or for that matter :- https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-main-differences-between-INS-Chakra-INS-Arihant-except-the-fact-that-INS-Chakra-is-bigger-I-mean-both-are-nuclear-subs-right

someone else posted pics and data in quora collecting it from somewhere else so it should not be a problem using pics from this site

you might say that i may not have read wiiki rules, but i have clearly read them and have read those in the above 2 links will like to have your suggestion, if you can spare sometime

thanks Joydeep ghosh (talk) 09:13, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

http://www.indiastrategic.in/topstories3628_Indias_First_Nuclear_Attack_Submarine_Arihant_begins_Sea_Trials.htm. This has "© India Strategic" at the bottom of the article. '©' is a copyright symbol, and it is reasonable to assume that this applies to the picture as well as to the text. Do not upload this.
https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-main-differences-between-INS-Chakra-INS-Arihant-except-the-fact-that-INS-Chakra-is-bigger-I-mean-both-are-nuclear-subs-right. The terms and conditions for the quora.com website are at https://www.quora.com/about/tos. The Your License to Quora section appears to be compatible with Wikipedia and with Wikimedia Commons, but I would want to check this at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright before uploading anything, and ask which licence tag should be applied. There is also the issue of whether the quora.com user has properly uploaded the image, as the website may be less scrupulous at checking than we are here. So, these images might be ok, but you would need to apply a tag that matches the quora.com licence and perform basic checks to see if the image has been improperly uploaded from elsewhere, including a Google image search.
In general, if a website does not have a copyright declaration you cannot assume that it is ok to copy its images, you need positive evidence that it is ok.
Examples of images that I think have been correctly uploaded from elsewhere in the Internet are:
I hope this helps. Verbcatcher (talk) 15:00, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

hi Verbcatcher thanks for your inputs , you seem to be asking about the pics in the quora.com article https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-main-differences-between-INS-Chakra-INS-Arihant-except-the-fact-that-INS-Chakra-is-bigger-I-mean-both-are-nuclear-subs-right if we number them 1,2 so on the sequence is like this 1,2 - indian navy (official); 3,7,8- livefistdefense.com; 4,510,11,12 - timesofindia.com; 6,9 - ajaishukla.blogspot.com; it may be possible that may be partially wrong but i have given sequence of pics used as per my memory; as i had read all about it. Now if quora.com has submitted it why cant it be used elsewhere including wiki. Any thoughts.

As for the inputs provided by you many thanks indeed

thanks

Joydeep ghosh (talk) 18:35, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you have identified the origins of these images correctly then this demonstrates that we cannot take quora.com's licencing conditions as reliable evidence of the status of the images that it hosts. If an image is owned by the Times of India then someone else posting the image to quora.com does not change the status of the image. See c:Commons:License laundering. Speedy deletion nomination of File:INS Nicobar troop ship.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:INS Nicobar troop ship.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

– Train2104 (t • c) 15:43, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

July 2019 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Jonathan Ingram, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.   Hello, Joydeep ghosh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. El_C 05:18, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please review WP:INDENT. And please try to proofread your comments — it is difficult to read because you fail to use punctuation or capitalize. Anyway, I'm just concerned with you seemingly trying to sanitize the history of his criminal activity. Also, I'm not sure I understand your question: what, specifically, do you wish to add? hi El C (talk) there was no intention to sanitize anything i only tried to add san fransico where the cases are related, the question i asked that this individual is an just investor in a company as per his linkedin profile, can that be updated in career section, i am not sure so seeking clarity. Again, please indent correctly, and please try to proofread by using punctuation and capitalizing. Anyway, you rewrote and removed the history part from the lead portion that discusses his crimes, hence my concern. El_C 05:49, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
hi El C (talk) this person lives in new york but cases are from san Francisco so thought i will update that, anyway the clarification i needed can that be done Joydeep ghosh
You have misindented every single comment here (which I then fix), and also failed to punctuate or use capitalization, as well, every single time. Are you trying to make some kind of making-it-difficult-to-read point? El_C 18:38, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Huh? And you still misindent — and you still fail to capitalize. Not a good sign. But thanks for actually including a full stop this time. I suppose that can be seen as progress, of a sort. El_C 18:45, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi El C (talk) its good that atleast you are responding, i have received very little response from others, regarding this topic, i need clarity on 2 things, one this individual has made investment in company as per his linkedin bio, info available online can that be added, in career i am not sure. Another topic his foundation i trying to help boost effort for menstural hygiene, its still a taboo subject in india, an that be uploaded bcoz it concerns a bigger issue. hi El C (talk) Chisme (talk) someone has practically vandalized the Gurbaksh Chahal page, need you help to stop this vandalism and put a tag of vandalism on this user, can that be done. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 16:21, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please stop calling good faith contributions vandalism —see what vandalism is not— that counts as a personal attack, which is prohibited. Please also stop edit warring and engage the editorial process on the article talk page. Failure to do so may see you article or even more broadly topic banned from the subject. Thank you. (In advance: please indent, use proper grammar and punctuation in any possible replies to me, or they will simply not be responded to.) El_C 16:59, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
hi El C (talk) the person who himself did the changes calls my edits as in good faith 'good fath edits were reverted', i am not calling for banning this person, i am asking for stopping further changes without approvals from existing editors. hope i am able to make my case.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 17:37, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
And that user is making good-faith edits. Given that one of your edits was to restore material that had previously been added by a user who was subsequently blocked for paid-editing issues, it may be a good idea for you to go to the article's talk page yourself and get consensus to add the material to the article. —C.Fred (talk) 17:42, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
hi C.Fred (talk) as far as i remember when i had added that link at that time the said editor was not banned or blocked, only after that the editor was banned/blocked. also that user himself/herself says my edits were in 'good faith'. hope i have presented my case.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 17:50, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
hi C.Fred (talk) i would also like to clarify that this link you are referring to [2] was originally added by me around august 28,2019 updates but the said banned/blocked editor first removed this link and then added it back after which that person was banned. which why this confusion.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 18:11, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
There is no record of that user ever having been blocked or banned. Why do you continue to fail to capitalize after a full stop? El_C 18:18, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi El C (talk) I did not say this. Look above user C Fred has said that the particular editor was banned or blocked. Its not me, and the link he referenced was actually updated by me on August 28, 2019 that was removed by the said banned editor and then added back after which he/she was banned (presumably).Joydeep ghosh (talk) 18:23, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
The reference is to this user, I believe. El_C 18:38, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Correct. Here is the diff where they originally added the material. —C.Fred (talk) 18:41, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi El C (talk) C.Fred (talk) i say this again, this particular link was originally added by me around august 28, 2019, i know my work. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 18:46, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'm focusing on the text in the edit, not the link that supports it. Please supply a diff where you added the text, because I don't see it. —C.Fred (talk) 18:50, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi C.Fred how can you see since this person who has completely changed the page removed everything. If you still have doubt you can see the list of work done by the banned user. There you may find when this person did this act also this particular link clearly says 'bringing back to lead' meaning it was first removed by the banned user and then restored. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gurbaksh_Chahal&diff=926104503&oldid=926104304. Hope i make my case. Also i had once again added the link on 26 november 2019 after the said editor was blocked.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 18:59, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
The page history is still visible. Again, to go any further with the premise that you initially added the text, please point me to the diff (the edit as found in the page history) where you added it back in August. —C.Fred (talk) 19:04, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi C.Fred I hope this helps https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gurbaksh_Chahal&oldid=912838140 and clarifies your doubts.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 19:10, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
No, it does not. That diff talks about menstrual hygiene; I'm asking about the Chahal Foundation and disaster recovery. —C.Fred (talk) 19:14, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

C.Fred then it is probably this https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gurbaksh_Chahal&oldid=912566829 also find the link

Hi C.Fred this should change the status, all my hard work should get restored as this link was reference to remove my work. Can i expect a positive response?Joydeep ghosh (talk) 19:38, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
No. Your edits were removed because of poor sourcing, sourcing to press releases, and the inclusion of non-notable awards. This isn't a free pass to restore them; you should go to the article's talk page and get consensus for including the material (or a revised version of it) into the page.
Also, please re-read the instructions for indenting talk page discussions. Add one and only one colon each time you reply to somebody, to step one level in. —C.Fred (talk) 19:49, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi Hi C.Fred thanks for this not so positive response, but what can i do if the person who removed my work saying 'used one source' isnt willing to see reason.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 20:10, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Have you tried to discuss it with them on the article's talk page? —C.Fred (talk) 20:14, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Joydeep, you are of course free to pursue this further if you wish, but if you do I will pursue an indefinite block of your account on the grounds that your false claims of vandalism are essentially identical to similar statements that have been made in the past by since-blocked individuals who were almost certainly retained by Mr. Chahal to whitewash his article. Archita Sahu edit

Hi, regarding your edit here, the text you added said "Diabetes Entertainment run by Dayanidhi Dahima have been her managers for many years" but the source does not say that Dahima runs the company, only that she founded it and is mostly involved in marketing, and it does not say that they have been Sahu's managers for many years (her name appears in a list of clients but that is all that's said about her.) In addition, this information does not tell us anything about Sahu, it appears to have been added in order to promote the company or the named individual. September 2019 edit

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Moving company. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [3] GermanJoe (talk) 21:32, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi GermanJoe (talk) i just added info which is relevant to the service provided and add value to page, please look carefully i am not trying to advertise any company.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 21:38, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Websites like getamover.co.uk fail Wikipedia's criteria for reliable sources by a wide margin and have absolutely no value as source or as external link. Please make sure to read WP:RS and WP:EL more closely. Of course you are welcome to add relevant content, but it should be based on non-promotional expert sources in reputed publications, not on personal promo blogs. GermanJoe (talk) 21:48, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please stop spamming this unreliable source - do you have any personal connection to the website by chance? Either way, the site is not acceptable as source. GermanJoe (talk) 21:53, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi GermanJoe (talk) i have no nnection personal or whatsoever with this website or this page, all i wanted to add so that adds value to this page.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 21:59, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

OK, thank you for clarifying this. But please make sure to use better, non-promotional sources in the future. Also, another important point: please do not copypaste content from external websites or other publications. All content should be written in your own words - see WP:COPYVIO for more info to avoid future problems in your own interest. Copyright is one of the few issues on Wikipedia that can get editors in trouble very quickly . Regardless, thank you for the many good-faith contributions in the past - hopefully these tips are helpful. GermanJoe (talk) 22:09, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Notability for companies edit

Hi, I would recommend reading this : WP:ORGCRITE. One of the point is Unless a company has

significant coverage in
multiple
independent,
reliable
secondary sources.
It cant have an article. Revenue is not necessarily a criteria, having higher revenues just makes the other criteria easier to fulfill. Daiyusha (talk) 05:05, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi Daiyusha (talk) i have already go through these several time in last 10 yrs, i used primarily only those sources that have already been used in wikipedia, when i found such info only then i tried creating a page. in this particularly i gathered over 40 references, but i used only 2 dozen bcoz others had not enough info. if you say content style, changes can be done to make it more neutral, i will still continue say this page deserves to be in wikipedia since this is the one of the biggest players just like Directi, BlueHost, HostGator, GoDaddy, iPage and more. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 05:19, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

The company you mention is literally nothing compared to companies like GoDaddy, whose daily revenue would far exceed 19 million. GoDaddy sponsors the world cup .Directi doesnt have a page. Hostgator is big too.I would suggest getting neutral articles from reputed news sites like TOI or hindu, or similar ones. THe one on Hindustan times clearly mentions the article being copied from "digpu". Daiyusha (talk) 05:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi Daiyusha (talk) was info from article from yahoo, zoominfo, rfdtv were not enough for raising profile for notability. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 05:43, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Nope, as I mention, neutral articles. The yahoo finance article (as well as rfdtv) has "SOURCE: HostingRaja" at the bottom, indicating the article was paid by Hostingraja. zoominfo is not a news site, anyone can pay to update their article there. The other companies you keep mentioning, some of them actual market leaders, have their reviews mentioned in multiple reliable review sites. HostGater, bluehost have many many articles on tomsguide, techradar (reliable sources btw)etc. They are also prominent among sites that compare "best web hosts". That makes them notable. Daiyusha (talk) 06:07, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi Daiyusha (talk) that was my intention, first post all reliable info and the post reviews on hostingraja, (imp for sites like these) there are multiple of them, excluding references used; then remove info that is considered not reliable. all the reviews abt the company say its a market leader, which is why i wanted to create a page. but before doing that you tagged it for deletion. i would request you to not tag it for deletion if i post it again albeit with more reliable info. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 07:39, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi Daiyusha (talk) i didnt find anything on techradar or tomsguide about hostingraja but there are some reviews on mouthshut so i ask is that reliable enough to help in creating hostingraja page, i would be glad if you can suggest any other review sites. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 18:18, 2 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Mouthshut is like reddit, anyone can write anything there, not considered reliable Daiyusha (talk) 18:32, 2 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Winged Blades of Godrici have been part of wikipedia for over 10 yrs now. I have created over 3 dozens of pages till date also helped improve several (5 dozen atleast) dozen more. i have never done any paid wikipedia work. In wikipedia it is my policy not touch others work unless and until it contains completely wrong info as also try to protect my own work and if anyone tries to help improve it no issues with that, but the manner in which you did the changes in gurbaksh chahal page completely shocked me. Also i dont advertise my wikipedia work anywhere. If i havent done it in over 10 years there is no reason for me to do it now. Again please understand i dont do paid work. I hope i have honestly tried to present my case.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 16:40, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to comment here not necessarily on any UPE grounds, but on the fact that both of you are close to edit warring on Gurbaksh Chahal. Joydeep, if you continue to find issue with Godric's edits, you should discuss them on the talk page; goodness knows there are enough people watching the page that will comment on the recent changes and find a consensus about them. Hi Primefac (talk) thanks for connecting, i didnt respond bcoz i dont have patience to argue with someone who says awards by Pace University and Ernst & Young are not notable and to be honored by a big society like DSGMC are not notable. Also Godric doesnt clearly give proper reason, just 3 -4 words arent enough to give reason i suppose. Anyays now that you have said will make case in the talk page.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 06:24, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

hi 331dot (talk) i have already apologized for the honest mistake about the image and if you think asking for help or asking questions to gain clarity is spamming i honestly apologize for that too, i again humbly request you to please unblock my account. Joydeep ghosh (talk) 16:09, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This is nowhere near enough. In fact, there's less content in this unblock request than in your previous one. Yamla (talk) 00:27, 15 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

hi Yamla (talk) please elaborate what does 'nowhere near enough. In fact, there's less content' meanJoydeep ghosh (talk) 03:23, 15 January 2020 (UTC) It's good that you apologized, but we need more than that, we need you to address the reasons for the block honestly to demonstrate that you understand this situation. Someone else will review your request. 331dot (talk) 16:34, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

hi 331dot (talk) i have already apologized for the honest mistake about copyright violation. As for accusation of spamming i have already reiterated that i had no deliberate intention to do this, i assure you that such kind of mistake wont happen in future again. As for UPE i am repeating once again that i have not any such type of work ever in my 10+ years at wikipedia. I humbly request you to please review my block and help unblock it.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 15:29, 2 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You have repeatedly added spam to our website and engaged in copyright violations. We're not making any progress here, so I've revoked your talk page access to stop further time-wasting. You can make further unblock requests via WP:UTRS. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 20:09, 18 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Someone else will review your request, but it is not enough to just state that you made a mistake about copyright violations. As such violations potentially put Wikipedia in legal jeopardy, we must be completely assured that you understand what copyright is and how you violated it- to demonstrate this to us you must explain in your own words what copyright its and how you violated it. 331dot (talk) 11:35, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

hi 331dot (talk) i fully understand the copyright rules, it is the ownership of something written, documented, clicked (pic) by someone who has full control for its use, and anybody else can only use it if they have prior permission otherwise it is termed as copyright violation. in wikipedia copyright ownership is almost same with conditional/free access/use permission provided by the owner durnng uploading the image. In Draft:Northlands_Shopping_Centre I hold copyright of all images posted in gallery that i gave permission of use under relevant rules. My only mistake was that this slipped out my mind while i was trying to pick a proper image for the front side i thought would be suitable for main pic since i didnt have anything that clear, so i inadvertently used an image from a news article. I am a forgetful person i dont do wikipedia on daily basis, so sometimes such minute details slip out of my mind, and that is what happened bcoz of which i was accused of copyright violation, which was an honest mistake. i hope i have made myself clear.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 15:37, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should read the guide to appealing blocks, then contact administrators by submitting a request to the Unblock Ticket Request System. If the block is a CheckUser or Oversight block, was made by the Arbitration Committee or to enforce an arbitration decision (arbitration enforcement), or is unsuitable for public discussion, you should appeal to the Arbitration Committee.
Please note that there could be appeals to the unblock ticket request system that have been declined leading to the post of this notice.
