Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action, as you did at Talk:Amazon Eve. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.  Atama 23:41, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • I am Jourdy Silva who has royally f**ed up. I want to have my problematic edit to the talk page removed. I think it has already been "revdev'ed." I will not repost external contact information. I tried using unblock, but it would appear that I cannot Log In to my Wikipedia account. I appreciate that the most recent problematic edit about the subject was removed in ten minutes. Since I have a clear CoI I do not intend to add anything to the main page, but I would like to post to the talk tab. I did make one deletion but was subsequently informed I should have requested that deletion on the talk page. That's easy to comply with . CATCH-22: How to I request an unblock if I cannot log in to my account? 74.71.87.23 (talk) 19:56, 24 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • Hi there. You have been blocked for making legal threats. I'm not entirely sure I see them myself, but you were on the edge of pulling the lawyer card on the talk page. Wikipedia policy tends to block editors who make legal threats. However, there's another issue here. You have one other account that you have not declared that you are using to edit the Amazon Eve article. I checked per policy in running this unblock request here. So, I'm not going to unblock this account right now and I should, by rights, block the other one - at least temporarily. Please go log into your main account and edit from there - Alison 20:10, 24 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
      • Hello Jourdy, I am the administrator who originally blocked you. I did so per our legal threats policy, particularly because other editors were under the belief that you were using legal threats to control both the content of the article and the talk page discussion for the article. I looked at what you had said, and I could see how your words would be interpreted. Since we disallow language that gives the impression of a legal threat I made the decision to block you. I am watching your page here (which is how I saw this discussion) and if you give the assurance that you do not plan to take legal action, and if Alison does not object to an unblock (due to the usage of multiple accounts) I can unblock you. If Alison makes the decision on her own to unblock you, I would not object to that either. Please note that the block I initiated does not prevent you from commenting on your own talk page here using your JourdySilva account. Thank you. -- Atama 17:39, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
      • Hello, Atama. I did not realize I could sign on at all. First, I am eager to retract any and all of what I wrote. Based on discussions I have read, our concerns have been addressed. Thank you all! I have also learned that I should not put in contact information. Second, I violated still yet another rule about not being a sock puppet. Several years ago I started out as Greenwayfriend. Over the years, using that name, I have contributed to a number of pages unrelated to Amazon Eve or the business. I became a fan of Amazon Eve and started to edit her page. Very recently I assumed a role with the organization. I thought it would be best to be up front about my role so I created J.S. Well intentioned, but a violation of the sock puppet rule!
A) I will no longer attempt to edit Amazon Eve. It would be a conflict of interest.
B) Please clarify the status of JourdySilva.
C) May I continue to use Greenwayfriend to edit pages unrelated to Amazon Eve or the business? Among other things, that username has photo rights.
D) May I continue to post to TALK:Amazon_Eve? For example, she may soon appear in another film and I would like to be able to ask someone to add the information to the page. If the answer is yes, how do state my COI? I could append or prepend the following to each posting in talk, "Note: I have a conflict of interest."
I am well aware that I have been cut a lot of slack and very appreciative.JourdySilva (talk) 18:52, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
In my view, the mistakes you've made have come about from inexperience. It happens to everyone, while I was lucky enough not to do anything to get myself blocked when I first started participating here, I certainly made my share of blunders. I cringe at some of my earliest edits, but I also sometimes go back and re-read them to remind myself that there is a learning curve for everyone.
I appreciate your cooperation through all of this. My suggestion is that you should use Greenwayfriend (and only that account). It is your original account, and has the most history. It's also not currently blocked. You can then edit the user page for that account, and disclose as much information as you are comfortable with. I don't suggest adding more than your name and your association with Amazon Eve, and even adding your real life name is a decision you shouldn't make lightly. It's almost inevitable that at some point you will come into dispute with another editor (whether it was your intention or not) and since you never know who is on the other end of an account you could find yourself subject to stalking, harassment, or worse in your real life. So keep that in mind.
I do strongly encourage you to disclose your affiliation with Amazon Eve in some way. The more forthcoming you are with a conflict of interest, the more trust that you will likely receive from other editors, and people should appreciate your efforts to do so. My suggestion is to disclose the affiliation on your Greenwayfriend user page, and then if necessary when you edit or get involved in a discussion on a talk page where you may have a conflict of interest, mention it once to let people know. You don't need to repeat it with each post you make, though you can if you want to. It's your decision. Oh, if you haven't read it yet, I strongly recommend our plain and simple conflict of interest guide; it's an easier read than our usual COI guideline and it's meant to help guide people in your situation.
Please note that we don't usually allow editors to use multiple accounts. Under rare situations we sometimes allow people to edit with multiple accounts, but you need to be sure you're following proper procedures when doing so, and that you provide proper notification when doing so. And even if you do everything correctly, someone may still accuse you of abusing multiple accounts. So I strongly suggest you only limit yourself to one account, it's just easier and less complicated that way.
To sum up, and to answer your questions/comments directly: (A) Our conflict of interest guideline does discourage you from editing the article directly, so to avoid causing too much controversy it's probably best to not edit the page directly. (B) Your JourdySilva account is blocked and should probably stay blocked while you use the Greenwayfriend account, unless you want to make this account your primary account instead (in which case your older account would be blocked instead). (C) You can certainly edit using Greenwayfriend if that is the only account you use. (D) You're encouraged to participate in talk page discussions at articles where you have a COI, as long as you disclose the nature of your connection to the article subject. -- Atama 19:33, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I almost forgot... I regularly assist in areas where there may be conflicts of interest among editors (such as the conflict of interest noticeboard) so if you ever have questions, feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you need help or advice. -- Atama 19:34, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Atama - looks like all is well here & I'm okay with whatever decision you make :) - Alison 19:56, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Autoblock lifted - Alison 21:36, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I thought I just submitted a long edit, I think it crossed User:Alison message. Let's get rid of JS. I tried logging into Gf but I get a message that the ip address is blocked. As soon as I have Gf back I'll add COI info to my user page. I appreciate all of the effort so many individuals put in on this. We appreciate all the effort put in on Amazon Eve page. WP is often the first place I go to obtain information or confirmation. User:Alison ten years plus lots of other stuff! Within two weeks I will be making donation. Thank you all. I added a note to my user page. Please feel free to check it out to make sure it is adequate. This has been an education. Greenwayfriend (talk) 22:26, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

You had an "autoblock" active which blocks IP addresses associated with this account, I turned that off so that it won't get in your way in the future. Sorry about the inconvenience. Again, if you have questions you can always ask on my talk page (a link is in the little kanji symbol in my signature). -- Atama 23:01, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
