Selamat datang ke Wikipedia Inggeris

On behalf of Malaysians at Wikipedia, I'd like to welcome you. If you have any question, please ask me and I'll try my best to accomodate you. You might be interested in visiting Wikipedia:Malaysia-related topics notice board too. Also, whenever you write to a talk page, please do sign your message by typing down ~~~~. That are four tildes. Again, welcome. __earth (Talk) 01:43, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello Josh! Could you take the pictures about Kerinchi Pylon near Menara Telekom in Kuala Lumpur and upload it to this article, please? Terima kasih and thank you! _Highway specialist in Klang Valley 17 August 2006

Flag of Malaysia

Hello. I didn't add the British India Company flag to the Flag of Malaysia but I thought it was a good illustration of the similarity of the flag with Malaysian flag. Could you provide a reason why you removed the flag please? __earth (Talk) 14:20, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

I thought that the flag is unnecessary since the article is about the flag of Malaysia. Thank you for pointing out that. I will revert my last change to the article. BTW, did the British India Company flag flied in the Strait Settlements during the period when the company administered the Strait Settlements? Joshua Chiew 14:34, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

The Company monopolized the trade route between India and China. The Straits Settlements too was once under the Company centered in Calcutta. Moreover, Francis Light acted on behalf of the Company in the the royal court of Kedah. Hence, I'd presume so. __earth (Talk) 15:29, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Moscow is not in Europe

Hello Joshua, I am new to wikipedia and would just like to inform you that moscow is not in Europe. The tallest European building can't be A RUSSIAN building because (if you look on a map) you will find Russia is not and has never been a part of Europe thus the tallest building is not that which you claim to be so. Thanks, Marlon. P.s sorry for writing on this page but it's the only way I knew how to communicate with you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.195.199.55 (talkcontribs) 11:42, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

No, it's all right, it is what talk pages are for. What I reverted was not about your point; if you want to argue about something, please do so on the talk page (not in the article itself; it will be considered vandalism) and please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes : ~~~~. Wish you happy editing and welcome to Wikipedia! Joshua Chiew 08:35, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Um, actually, parts of Russia are in Europe, including Moscow. The Ural Mountains are the dividing line. Ungovernable ForceGot something to say? 04:24, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

King Abdullah's Entry

Hello joshua, thanks for editing the entry on king abdullah that denies any relationship between him and prophet muhammed(pbuh);but you must know that this is not a biased opinion but a fact instead that is supported by intellectual proof.please let the truth spread.thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Grandia01 (talkcontribs) 09:02, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, I would like to suggest that you bring the matter over to the article's talk page before adding it to the article, since this is controvesial. Joshua Chiew 09:48, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Joshua Chiew, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

English

Hi - I edited your English userbox to say that you speak an advanced level of English. Based on what I read on your userpage, I would even venture to say that you speak it at a near-native level :-)! I'll leave it up to you if you want to change that though. - Mike 15:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

My thanks to you - I may have good written English but my spoken English is not good enough...in fact, I originally placed it and Malay at advanced level but I downgraded them after a few days (maybe I had not enough confidence in myself). As for now, I would like to keep it at advanced level - as per your edit. Regards, Joshua Chiew 15:25, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Edits on Minamoto no Yoritomo

I removed information from the Minamoto no Yoritomo article because if you look carefully you will see that all this information has already been stated. I simply wanted to prevent people wasting their time by reading it twice. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.241.166.169 (talkcontribs) 10:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for taking your time to write to me: I am on vandalism patrol, and I will be more careful next time. Please accept my humble apologies. Joshua Chiew 10:51, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Its OK i understand ur concern —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.241.166.169 (talkcontribs) .

Esperanza

I did not remove your name from the list. The edit I made if you look at the edit summary was changing my status from "user" to "admin". I did not make the other changes it appears to show. Sometimes, the servers have problems and do not submit the changes immediately. I've seen this happen numerous times. I did not make all of those additions, moves, etc. to the list. All I did was change my status, so it's likely a user had previously removed you. Michael 04:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm quite a new user and I never see this happen before. Anyway, I have readded my name to the list. Thank you for notifying me about this. Joshua Chiew 05:04, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

It's not that common. One of the things that may have happened was another error in the server in which when I edited the text, I was actually directed to a past version of the page in the history, which could explain why many of the edits that were made prior to mine were no longer there, yours being one of them. I did not click on a past version, but the edit may have been made in that and submitted, It appears I made those changes, but I didn't. It was more of a reversion with the one change, so I re-added the information that was taken out. Michael 05:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. Michael 05:24, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Image moving

Ciao! Thanks four editing to Castel Gandolfo, however I changed again the layout 'cause your edit created blank spaces... please avoid it (try to imagine the article must work with every screen resolution)... Good work!! --Attilios 09:39, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for writing to me. I moved the image just to unhide some text that appeared hiding on my screen but I don't understand how I create blank spaces. Joshua Chiew 09:47, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Question about you changing my edit.

Why did you change back my edit on the Yucatán Peninsula page. What I changed was that Yucatán is not spelled with á, but spelled with a regular a. I'm just curious why you changed it back. If you have an answer just put it on my talk page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nemokid1220 (talkcontribs) 00:11, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me because I am kind of new to this user account thing on Wikipedia. Thanks to your reply to my question, I now am wiser about editing on Wikipedia. Thank you very much Joshua.
