Wikilinking dates

edit

Noticed your recent edits to Juliette Gordon Low. Good that you wrote a lead section. However, in doing so you Wikilinked a number of dates, e.g. 1913. Please note that this is considered overlinking: see WP:DATELINK, WP:YEARLINK. I've edited them out of your lead section for the JGL article; this is just so you'll know on future edits. Thanks. The lead was already there, but was rather terrible. I don't generally edit wikipedia that much, but a friend pointed to that page and it clearly needed it - and nothing was linked (not even the names, boy scouts, etc.) so I linked everything. I'll note this for future reference. Incidentally, that article has 20/22 citations from one book and reads like a book report. JoshJGT (talk) 03:06, 20 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I wouldn't have called the original first paragraph a lead at all, and neither would the person who added the leadmissing template at the top (which I removed, since you'd written one).
I agree that the writing in the article is pretty awful. I've tried to fix some of the worst problems—stuff out of chronological order, maundering anecdotes, promotional material, and English that read like a Google translation from Korean—but it still needs plenty of work.
