Hi @Jonloliverru, I published your article. It was sitting in WP:AFC for too long. The article is not bad. I have cleaned it up a wee bit, fixed the bottom chunk, and put some links and categories. It is mostly completed. Can you add in some categories, and additional references in those areas which don't, e.g. the middle of the article, there is nothing there at all. Coupla chunks of text with no refs. I have also added an auth tag, which will link the article to worlcat. Thanks. Please don't take out the red links. There are needed, so folk can see what needs created. Thanks. scope_creep (talk) 15:07, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jonloliverru,I see you have substantially expanded the article, and it is now looking pretty decent, but there is a bunch of stuff which I took out, as it was either non notable, or not suitable for biography article. I dont want to copyedit a second time. Information about the grandkids, is not notable. The wife can be mentioned by name, but the qualifications for grandkids and kids, is not notable. Please remove them. The sentence, Ruben enjoys... reads like cv entry. Please take it out. Please take out the ODL section. That is entirely non notable and is nothing to do with the individual in this context, and violates WP:NOTADVERTISING as you are advertising it, by its mere presence. Please take it out. scope_creep (talk) 17:07, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I see you have tried to create empty articles for the link I created, which have been deleted as they have no content, re: Rutgers PreDoctoral Leadership Development Institute. Can you relink them so future editors known an article is needed for them. Perhaps you can create these articles. Thanks. scope_creep (talk) 17:11, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest

Hi Jonloliverru, I see you took that image yourself on the Brent David Ruben page. I would you had a WP:COI conflict of interest. scope_creep (talk) 08:36, 11 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks very much. I think I did this incorrectly anyway. The photographer turned over ownership to me of this photo. Should I do something differently? Thanks!

Hello Jonloliverru. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Brent David Ruben, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jonloliverru. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jonloliverru|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DanCherek (talk) 19:16, 23 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Derek,
Thanks for reaching out. I have nor will I receive any compensation, nor have any financial interest in Brent's Wikipedia page. He is a colleague of mine and asked for my help updating his page.
Best,
Jon Oliver 173.70.127.16 (talk) 20:22, 23 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
The conflict of interest guideline still applies. Please read that carefully. At present, the article is kind of a mess of unsourced and uncited content. COI editors are strongly advised to propose changes to article talk pages rather than directly edit affected articles. DanCherek (talk) 20:38, 23 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Meant to write, I have not, nor will I receive any compensation. Thanks again. Jonloliverru (talk) 16:04, 24 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
