Welcome to wikipedia. I am a member of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey if you are interested in joining. I am awed by the changes you have made... especially the Rob Lablanc one... that was great! I am from the Town of Durham but now live in Windsor... and I have been struggling to get past standings from that area for the Huskies, T-Cats, and Western/G-B/Central Junior "C"... so if you can help me in anyway... it would be greatly appreciates. Hi, I hope this works, I'm not really sure how to talk back! Anyway, thanks for the welcome and I appreciate the feedback. I'm from Owen Sound and I've spent the past couple of days at the library going through old newspaper microfilms. I still have some more to do, so please bear with me. As for the 76-77 SOJHL season, I have the order of finish but I neglected to write down the records of three of the four teams. I can get those next time I hit the library.

Junior vs. Intermediate

Excellent work so far.. but we need to differentiate between Junior, Intermediate, and Senior teams unless we can prove that they were the same team... example... Orillia Terriers... did the intermediates drop down to Jr. A? not that we know of... so lets try to keep the histories seperate like I did with Durham Huskies and Durham Huskies Jr. A. Season-by-season results

Regarding changes to Owen Sound Greys; here is the precedent set forth for season-by-season results.

1. All seasons should be in chronological order, regardless or team's nickname.
2. Colour-coded backgrounds denote a change in the team name only.
3. The league change is denoted in the standing column. For example, 5th League X, 7th League Y. etc.
4. When possible, link the season to the article for that season.
5. Bold first place finishes.

In summary, the results should be put back into chronological order, the backgrounds colour-coded, and a legend inserted at the top. Flibirigit 23:19, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

With all due respect, I feel it makes more sense to have two separate lists of season-by-season results because this is a case where two teams amalgamated after playing simultaneously for several years. It would be too confusing, for example, to have back-to-back references to the 1976-77 season.

Sorry about the coloured backgrounds. I didn't realize there was a precedent and so I went for a look that would change whenever the league changed. IMHO, it makes things stand out a little bit more considering the league changed more often than the team name did.

I don't know what you mean by a legend at the top. I'm still pretty new to this and am still trying to get adjusted to everything involved in this process.

I think by legend he means the thing with the logo in it... if you need further help, just ask. The colour coding. Yeah, Jason and I need to talk about that. He has been using it show moniker changes on the teams... but I've used it on my articles for league changes because all the leagues I research have teams jumping around like chickens with their heads cut off from one league to another. Wow, that is an awesome history. It needs sources now though... footnotes if you want. It's up to you... but that kicks ass. PS... I am very interested in MOJBHL stangings as well... I thought they folded into the Central Junior B in 1971 though? Any idea? Did all this info come from the OS ST? DMighton 03:25, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

The Mid-Ontario league was created in '71 and folded in '78. None of the Central league teams from 1970-71 made it into the new Central league in 1978-79 although Collingwood eventually did get back there. I have the year-by-year standings but not complete stats. Regarding all the info in the history, I don't know how to denote sources other than refer to them in the text. It's all from the ST, though.

Is there anyway you could e-mail me those standings? I'd like to look at them, just for the hell of it.

So, it seems there was a league name swap around 1970... an old Central/new Central... an old Mid-Ontario/new Mid-Ontario... cool... and the Mid-Ontario became the Midwestern?

Sources... for now... put a pair do a new category in the article called "Sources" and write, probably in bullets, links to the OS ST and the OSPL as your sources and how they were used I guess.

I only have what I've scribbled down as far as standings go, but I can come up with something better once I have more info, like full records for all the teams. Regarding new vs old leagues, I haven't seen a reference to the Central league post-1971, nor have I seen a reference to the MO league pre-1971. As far as I could tell, the MO league was brand new in 1971, but who knows? In 1978 the MO league disappeared, with four of the teams going to the newer Central league (see the update in the Greys article, I've named all four teams) and the Greys to the MW league, which had previously been called Waterloo-Wellington. If you want the Central B from 1971-1993... all you have to do is look at this: Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. They swapped names it seems with the Mid-Ontario... because they too were called the Mid-Ontario until 1970 or 71. The old MO lasted I believe from 1968-1971... and the Central B from 71-93 when it became the new OPJHL. I have very few stats from the Waterloo-Wellington/Southwestern league sadly. I think one year of Cullitons stats... and that is about it. DMighton 06:05, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

We've only covered games against the Western teams, ie. the quarter-final playoffs every season, the interlocking season a couple of years ago. I'm trying to go back in our archives to get the GMO champs from 1994-97. Regarding stats in general for many different leagues, I've got a couple of ideas I'm going to pursue so that I don't have to spend hours at the library.JonJax 19:33, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm interested to see how that will work. I am stat hungry. PS... I did some digging... When the Central folded in 1971... it seems to have mostly become the current WOHL. The Northern teams seem to have formed the MOJBHL, which... I guess... either was absorbed by the MWJBHL or both the MWJBHL and WOHL later on. DMighton 05:22, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

In 1970-71, the Central league consisted of Owen Sound, Collingwood, Waterloo, the Kitchener Ranger B's (now Dutchmen) and the Preston Raiders (long gone). They played a home-and-away interlocking schedule with the teams in the Western league -- Strathroy Rockets, Sarnia Bees, Stratford Warriors, St. Marys Lincolns and London Squires. In 1971-72, the Greys and Blues went to the Mid-Ontario, but I'm still delving into the reasons for the switch. By the way, the Guelph CMC's were in the Central league in 1969-70. They lost the final playoff round to Collingwood, which lost the next round (OHA quarters) to Stratford. JonJax 14:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I am definately interested in an all-time scoring list for the T-Cats... actually my cousin should be pretty high on there. Did Stoddart have the WOAA standings too? Either way, please e-mail it to me when you get the chance.

The WOHL is only covered as far back by the Windsor Star as 1971-72. Did you happen to get any standings from your trip to the Library for the other leagues? The CMC's... I think I read that they bought out the SOJHL team in 1970... so presently I have them as part of the lineage... but I need standings to alter it correctly. DMighton 19:24, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

The Guelph Burger Kings changed their name to the Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters and were merged with the CMC's... creating the "Guelph CMC's Biltmore Mad Hatters".... shortened to the "Guelph CMC's" for simplicity. This all happened in 1970, so it seems. DMighton 19:37, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I also had a look... it seems the WOHL was founded roughly in 1969... but the Windsor Star doesn't seem to cover them all the way back. The league was a little bit too far North for the paper, unlike the old Western B/A that turned into the SOJHL. DMighton 07:04, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. Task forces By Maxim There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics. Sweden Ice Hockey task force This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. New Jersey Devils task force This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. Requested Images By Maxim After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests: Patrik Eliáš — Photo of player, requested by Bsroiaadn Scott Stevens — Photo of player, requested by Bsroiaadn Daniel Alfredsson — Photo of player, requested by Maxim Hart Trophy — Photo of the original Hart Trophy (retired in 1960), requested by Scorpion0422 Article assessement completed By Maxim On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles.
