File permission problem with File:Gaddafi & Nasser.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Gaddafi & Nasser.jpg, which you've attributed to http://uprootedpalestinians.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/muammar-gaddafi-hero-or-villain.html. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:39, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Stop uploading and/or adding images edit

At this point, I need you to stop uploading images to Wikipedia. You clearly do not understand copyright law. The "Aztec couple" (which, of course, are not Aztecs) is, as you yourself stated, from the 19th century. How could that picture, then, be your own work, unless you are over 120 years old? There are a number of other images above that have been tagged as probably problems. You can't simply take a picture you've found in a book or online and upload it to Wikipedia or Commons. In some cases very old photographs are out of copyright, but it's more complicated than that. Because copyright violations pose a very real danger to Wikipedia, it's important that you get them right. As such, you need to seek the advice of editors with more experience in this matter, so they can help guide you in determining which images are acceptable and, when acceptable, the right license that they must be uploaded under.

Additionally, at least on Aztec, you're edit warring. If you ever add a picture, and someone else reverts you, the responsibility is on you to go to the talk page and justify inclusion. That is, the default is always to keep a picture out until there is clear consensus to include it (or until it stays there for a while without any objection).

If you upload more images without perfectly handling the copyright problem, or continue edit warring, I will have to block you. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:24, 11 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Imazighen Woman.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Imazighen Woman.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 01:24, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:19thCenturyAztecCouple.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:19thCenturyAztecCouple.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:LuziaWoman.jpg edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:LuziaWoman.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Stefan2 (talk) 12:52, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:BanuBakrGirl.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:BanuBakrGirl.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for again uploading pictures under incorrect licenses, unclear copyright status, and mislabeling. This has to stop. Trust me, I understand that copyright is complicated, but it has to be done right. Otherwise, Wikipedia is actually at risk for hosting copyrighted works. If you need help, seek a mentor. Non-free rationale for File:MuammarGaddafiandAmazon.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MuammarGaddafiandAmazon.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use File:MuammarGaddafiandAmazon.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:MuammarGaddafiandAmazon.jpg.
