Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Johneastman76. July 2023 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Kiesel Guitars) for apparent Conflict of Interest and promotional oriented editing..
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  -- ferret (talk) 13:40, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at User talk:Ferret. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. -- ferret (talk) 00:48, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I want to apologize, Ferret. I lost my cool when I shouldn't have. It's just very frustrating to be a lifelong fan of something and having some random person who doesn't know nearly as much try to change stuff. (There are still mistakes on the Kiesel Guitars Wikipedia page, which confirms my suspicion. The guitar in Michael Hermes' picture is a CT, not a Bolt). I remember being a kid and going to Guitar Center almost everything weekend seeing if there were new Carvin guitars I the store. Please accept my apology and perhaps I can give some advice on the page and leave it be. -John Johneastman76 (talk) 16:01, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's fine to make corrections, but you have been making improper changes with an overly promotional tone. I own Carvin/Kiesel guitars myself, so you might want to step back just a bit from the "I'm the fan who knows things versus random people" angle. Kiesel claims to be founded in 1946, and while they do have a connection to the original company that was, the current incarnation of Kiesel Guitars was incorporated in 2015 and split from the original Carvin Corporation, which still exists. Removing non-endorsed artists in particular has a promotional feel, especially with statements such as "not notable", when Joseph Simmons IS notable by Wikipedia standards (whereas Michael Hermes is not). This is not an "About Us" page for Kiesel Guitars. It is not a promotional page or advertisement. It's meant to capture the history and details as we can source (WP:V) by reliable sourcing (WP:RS). -- ferret (talk) 16:11, 30 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
