azathioprine edit

Hello there, thank you for your contribution on this article. But could notify me when you are making any majorm changes? Because this article is on a GA review, and to be honest, it gets messy after some of your edits (ref errors, etc.). Besides, the reviewer also said "some sections are very short and would benefit from either expanding or merging with others". Now it becomes harder for other users to work on this......--Jsjsjs1111 (talk) 12:24, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I was unaware that this article is on 'GA review' ('GA' means?). I agree that the articles on thiopurines (azathioprine, mercaptopurine, thioguanine, thiopurine methyltransferase) are all seriously in need review! They have been poorly referenced and not updated. This has been an intensively studied field, and it is a classic example of 'pharmacogenetics' - there are many hundreds of references. The simplest and best solution would be to cross-reference the thiopurine articles and utilise over-lapping text. Unlikely to happen? I updated the 'thioguanine' article which was in a very poor state. Do let me know what would be best - am happy to leave it all to your reviewer, who is hopefully an expert? I have written chapters and reviews on the topic, but will leave it all alone because having 2 people working on the same thing is very confusing as you point out... GA review means this article is under review to promote it to Wikipedia:Good articles. I guess you are a newcomer to Wikipedia, so I would suggest the best thing for you to do is writing your opinion of the article azathioprine in Talk:Azathioprine/GA1. As I am more familiar with the wikipedia styles while you are an expert on the academic side, I can implement your advices into this article in an appropriate way. Thank you!--Jsjsjs1111 (talk) 12:58, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
A hearty welcome from me as well! Fine to have someone looking at the article who is obviously heavily involved in studying azathioprine on a clinical level! Please feel free to ask me if you need any editing help.
The reviewer, User:Jfdwolff, is certainly a medical expert, and as he is a member of the Taskforce Nephrology I daresay he knows about azathioprine, but I don't know how invoved he is with the drug. Cheers, ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 13:35, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
