Ignatieff edit

You ask if the present situation can continue indefinitely, and I fear that it shall, even after December. Perhaps, if we cannot make any kind of progress within a few days, we should give WP:SEMI a try. Then we could actually, you know, work on the article. -Joshuapaquin 16:29, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to join Joshuapaquin in my thanks for work on the Ignatieff article. Political articles are a real pain to keep neutral and it's always nice to have an editor who tries to do just that. 198.20.40.50 19:40, 4 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. No worries about the user page. The link probably does some good. Although I think that you should also be able to click on the discussion tab up top to get to the talk page, just like with a regular article. Work with my configuration anyway. Thanks for all of your work on the article. I'm glad that someone is brave enough to do something there. I was trying to keep my head under cover with all of the Ignatieff stuff. --JGGardiner 02:30, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks but it's just laziness, not restraint. --JGGardiner 16:12, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Please ignore that 67.71.121.206 (or similar) user. I know I've not been contributiong to the Iggy article recently (busy with my thesis), but I've consistently supported your edits. 198.20.40.50 19:25, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Restorationism edit

The Restorationism article is in terrible shape. Amongst its many problems is a complete lack of citations. Do you have any online resources that you feel might help in a cleanup of that article? Everything from style and form to grammar needs attention; I'm willing to do a chunk of the work in cleanup, but I don't have the source background to do it right. Anything you can direct me towards would be appreciated. Thanks, -Kevin/Last1in 22:04, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll do the work if you can point me toward sources. Thanks, Kevin/Last1in 01:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Michael Ignatieff edit

You may like to look at my warnings on the talk page of this article. FYI this is my response to criticisms of Sarah Ewart's actions:

I strongly suggest that users pay careful attention to Sarah Ewart's words, because I am backing her 100%. I am not going to explain it. She already has. If anybody is in further need of explanation, please see the edit warning box on Talk:Michael Ignatieff. Sarah Ewart, in my previous experience, as here, is an experienced editor with a very sound grasp of policy and the best interests of wikipedia to the fore. Violations of policy on Michael Ignatieff and its talk page will result in a block without another warning.

Hey Joel, you should have left this part of your comment in, as it was completely correct!:

It's ironic that reference to Augustine is now being seen as "puffy," when earlier attempts to reduce this section (it used to be :::a full paragraph) were met with accusations of "stripping all non-pro-iggy POV." Certainly though, let's cut it if we're agreed

I've been away from the Ignatieff article for a bit, but must say it's kinda nice to see that the numerous sockpuppets on there hurling accusations everywhere "PRO-IGGY EDITS SANITIZING!" are gone. But how did Ottawaman get the heckler's veto on there? I can't believe people are having to justify every line in the piece! - Finnegans wake 05:44, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:54-40 logo.jpg) edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:54-40 logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 14:03, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Health Wiki Research edit

A colleague and I are conducting a study on health wikis. We are looking at how wikis co-construct health information and create communities. We noticed that you are a frequent contributor to Wikipedia on health topics.

Please consider taking our survey here.

This research will help wikipedia and other wikis understand how health information is co-created and used.

We are from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Our university research committee approved the project.

Fair use rationale for Image:54-40_promo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:54-40_promo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Genovese logo.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Genovese logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Replaceable fair use Image:Whitfieldband.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Whitfieldband.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 18:29, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Whitfield logo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Whitfield logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:31, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
