Conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Joebrunetto15. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara 01:20, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

Please review my Unblock request....I believe I have valid reason to be unblocked...I made a mistake which in have corrected in my unblock request.. I have self written Bio and Mr Seymour is an outstanding 22year contributor to the Markets and a CNBC fast Money Trader. I accidently copied the CNBC profile instead of what I wrote about him...I am new to this and trying to figure out how to change. Thank you! Joebrunetto15 (talk) 15:59, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I'm trying to figure out how you would accidentally copy something and post it- which requires several deliberate actions to do- but leaving that aside, you haven't addressed the reason for the block as it seems that you are here to promote Timothy Seymour. If you have any sort of association with him, you must review the conflict of interest and paid editing policies. You will also need to explain how your edits will be different going forward, and if you want to edit about other subjects. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 22:48, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

OK 331dot, I apologize like I said I am new to this and didn't know about all of these policies and regulations, I thought by citing my source I was doing the correct thing, which his CNBC profile is written by him and he also has a separate Bio and I copy and pasted the wrong word document. But aside from that, I was unaware of the other Conflict of Interest Policies and Paid Editing so I will do my research on that. Thank you was only looking for help I understand and accept the block, have a good dayJoebrunetto15 (talk) 22:58, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Since you are not requesting to be unblocked, I have removed the unblock request formatting. If you decide to make another request, you may do so. 331dot (talk) 23:09, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

331dot I am trying to follow all of the policies and regulations...I am not very versed in all of this language and would appreciate some help. I see you have been an Admin for many years. I fully respect the site of Wikipedia and the process it takes to create a page...I want to do everything correctly. If you could help me or direct me to someone willing to help me with the (COI) and Paid Editing I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

...I'm not sure how long I am blocked for...I am trying to use articles for creating to recommend a page be created as well as disclosing on my user page but i can still use some help if anyone can help out. Thank you!

While I have been a Wikipedia user for several years, I've only been an administrator for a little over a year. I can tell you what I know. First, I gather that Timothy Seymour is paying you to edit about him on Wikipedia, either specifically or more generally(if you are his PR person or social media manager). If that is not a fair assumption, please tell me, but if it is, Wikipedia's Terms of Use require you to declare that you are being paid and the nature of the relationship. WP:PAID describes this policy in detail, but that is the gist of it. There are formal ways to declare this but most users here will settle for a simple statement to the effect of "I am being paid by XYZ to edit(about subject A if different than who is paying you)". As this is a Terms of Use requirement, you cannot use Wikipedia if you are a paid editor and do not comply with this policy.
Whether you are paid or not, if you have a conflict of interest you should declare that as well. Having a conflict of interest means that you should not directly edit about things within the area of your COI. You were creating a draft- which is the correct thing to do- but it was little more than his resume and not an encyclopedic article. You also stated you copied his CNBC profile, which is probably a copyright violation.
Please understand that as a neutral encyclopedia, Wikipedia is only interested in what independent reliable sources state about article subjects with significant coverage, that shows how the subject meets Wikipedia's special definition of ntoability. Wikipedia has no interest in what the subject(or their representative) wants to say about themselves(such as in a CNBC profile). If there is no coverage in independent sources, the subject would not merit an article at this time.
I'm short on time at the moment, so I can't go into much more detail, but feel free to ask further questions. If you wish, you may make a new unblock request that will be reviewed by another administrator; however, if you are just here to edit about Mr. Seymour, you probably are not going to be unblocked. Wikipedia much prefers to have general contributors who are interested in building this collection of human knowledge for the benefit of all, and it has little interest in helping merely spread the word about something or someone. There is no set end date on your block; you will need to make a successful unblock request to be unblocked. 331dot (talk) 16:56, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
