Welcome! edit

Hello, Joangrayphotography, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi, sorry about all the negative messages you've received already, below. Wikipedia can be difficult to get started with. I see that 2 articles you started on NRHP-listed topics have already been deleted, even though I understand they are valid topics. I'm going to ask the deleter to provide copies of the starter articles, and I will help you get them started. That is, i'll help start Louis J. Adams House and June D. Drake House articles. Do you have any photos or other material to add? I am just a volunteer editor like everyone else, but I apologize on behalf of wikipedians who really do want you to be able to come and get started more positively. Hang in there, please! --doncram 19:53, 7 September 2012 (UTC) P.S. I found my way here from mention by editor Acroterian, who noticed your articles first, and who already worked to "save" one from over-zealous deletion-minded editors.Reply

Conflict of interest & username problem edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Joangrayphotography", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, institution, company or website. Please note that you may only edit on behalf of yourself, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or have the appearance of shared use. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 76.102.49.177 (talk) 18:18, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

How unpleasant, to get that message! :( --doncram 19:53, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Argh. It is a valid topic. Will help re-start this article. --doncram 19:53, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Argh again, also a valid topic. Will help re-start this article. --doncram 19:53, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Re-started it, adding your pic for this one from Commons too. Please feel free to add more. An article can have more than one pic for a house! Do you have any detail pictures, e.g. a close-up of a door or window or some other architectural element? --doncram 20:58, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Murton E. and Lillian DeGuire House edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Murton E. and Lillian DeGuire House requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Kürbis () 18:31, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Note on pictures edit

Thanks for your efforts to take pictures of historic properties! I've rescued the DeGuire House, but it will need some text and so forth. The other articles can be resurrected, but for the time being the images can be added to the list descriptions you used when you uploaded them. Don't be discouraged: generally folks want to see some substantive text (about a paragraph's wort) in an article, and on some of these newer NRHP nominations there's no reference available online yet. I'll do a bit more when I get away from work, and please do not hesitate to ask questions. Acroterion (talk) 18:47, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
