Bounding Main

edit

A "fair use" picture of the Bounding Main group was recently uploaded at Image:Bounding Main Group.jpg. (By me, as it happens.) Since you apparently had the ability to locate public domain images of some of their albums, perhaps you can also find a public domain image of the group in general. Though at least until recently, there was no problem with reduced size press kit photos of this type. Crypticfirefly 04:10, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note, and welcome to Wikipedia! (Should have sent you a welcome message earlier, but I was sleepy when I wrote the above.) Anyway, your method of responding was just fine. All I was suggesting was that if you have a GPL or PD image of "Bounding Main" (and it sounds as if you might!) that you could use to replace the "fair use" one, that would be good. But if you don't, that's cool too. BTW, there's an article on sea chanties and on various performers like Johnny Collins, Tom Lewis, and Stan Rogers maybe you have some info to add! More on the picture

edit

Apparently someone decided that since the members of your band are still alive, someone could create a "free" image of the group. So the picture from the Bounding Main article was deleted. I'm discouraged by this, but I'll leave it to you to find a replacement. Crypticfirefly 03:50, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:GOB cover.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:GOB cover.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free image File:Lost at Sea.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Lost at Sea.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:42, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:GOB cover.jpeg

edit

The file File:GOB cover.jpeg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused album cover for non-notable album, free license doubtful - the band can't retain the copyright if it's free licensed, so that doesn't work.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 20:32, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
