Maritzburg College edit

Congrats on a well-written update to the Maritzburg College article. Some paragraphs have been edited to conform with Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy. Additionally, could you supply or cite sources regarding some of the sporting claims mentioned in the text body?

Best regards, and welcome.

Maritzburg College, revisited edit

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for clearing that up for me! Usually, when a sentence makes a claim of sorts (i.e top school in SA, fastest runner in Thailand - you get the idea), it needs to have a source cited which is generally listed toward the end of the article. I will incorporate your additions to the article as verifiable sources. I wrote the initial entry on Maritzburg College as request from the Wiki Schools Collaboration, and volunteered to handle a large portion of South African schools. Currently, I am working on Michaelhouse and Durban High, and will be looking to expand the article on Grey College. Incidentally, I myself am a College old boy (1996-2000), and am well aquainted with "Skonk" Nicholson and his daughter who I believe works (or worked) for the Old Boy's Club. I will also be writing an article on Skonk as a spin-off from Maritzburg College; would you be able to furnish me with relevant information? Could I also pester you for ISBN numbers for the book Jimeloyo Ji! and any other sources you used? The "fagging" aspect was more an attempt to bring neutrality to the article, and was included more because of its remarkable nature (as it is not a practise found in many schools any more) than an attempt to besmear College. It can, if you wish, be removed as it admittedly doesn't flesh out the article in a meaningful way.

Of MC and Skonk edit

Hi Matthew,

I have re-included some of the facts you originally stated in the text of Maritzburg College. I also have started a new article, Skonk Nicholson, which needs a lot more information if it is to be taken seriously. I have debated whether to contact Skonk by phone (I often used to spend my first-year weekends at his place so I have the happy pleasure of knowing him well) and ask him for information, but have decided (for now) not to as this would not be a neutral viewpoint. Instead, would it be possible to buy/borrow a copy of Jimeloyo-Ji so that I may use it as a cited source? Your well-versed input would be greatly appreciated. Incidentally, do you know of any contacts at Michaelhouse so that I can continue my work on that article?

Best regards,

Image copyright problem with Image:Nel_Philip.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Nel_Philip.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MCOBA badge.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading Image:MCOBA badge.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:34, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
