Hello,

I've blocked this username indefinitely because it is too similar to an existing username. If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new one, leave a note on Wikipedia:Changing username. This can only be done before you create the new one. If you wish to create a new username, please visit the same page for information. --HappyCamper 21:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I appreciate your efforts admin, but for goodness sakes, my username is jimbo3. It's deliberately chosen to be completely unlike jimbo, or Jimbo Wales, and I'm sure anyone will be able to see the clear distinction between the two. I had no idea that this chap was a head honcho at the wiki foundation. I feel pangs of hurt returning, as I chose jimbo3 as my nomer on my first ever email account when jimbo was also taken. However, seeing that I have no influence at all, and charity is long dead, perhaps my username could be changed to JimdeFaoite. I would appreciate if my contribution could be retained, as I spent a few minutes on it and it's a new entry.Cheers, Jim
Hello! Okay, first things first...I'll unblock your account so you can change the name. Then, I'll write more explanations. Sound good? Just give me a minute. :-) --HappyCamper 22:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, you should be unblocked now. --HappyCamper 22:14, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Here, this is what I think is best...I'll leave this account unblocked, and you can edit with it as you wish for the time being. I won't block it again, but it would be quite likely that another administrator would have an inclination to block you! Historically, names which resemble "jimbo" are blocked, even if there is such a distinction, as you have indicated. I've asked another user on Wikipedia to look into your request for changing your username here [1]. I don't know how long it will take, but it should not take very long at all. --HappyCamper 22:21, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can understand why HappyCamper asked you to change the username, but as long as you make and keep a clear explanation on your userpage that you are not Jimbo Wales and make it even more clear that you picked this to match an old email id (a mention of how long you've had that wouldn't hurt), then my thought is you can keep the name. It is a very common nickname. Others may disagree, so I can't speak for them. Is that fair enough? - Taxman Talk 22:27, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

So long as the distinction on the userpage is clear, I'm sure others (ie, admins) would agree it's okay too. Oh yes, I'll put in a good word for you on Jimbo's talk page! :-) --HappyCamper 22:33, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks chaps! I've placed a note on my user page, hope it's sufficient.

Looks good and below is the standard welcome template because it's got some good links for you. - Taxman Talk 21:09, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
