Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Jill alper. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jill Alper, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:24, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

February 2019 edit

  Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:37, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:53, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~Swarm~ {talk} 20:53, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am requesting to be unblocked from the Jill Alper page because I now understand the COI policy. If unblocked, I will submit a simple conflict of interest request, before making any edits. Because of my mistakes and the inclusion of "advertisement" and "promotional" language, my page was reverted to a version with inaccurate information and is at risk of being deleted because the citations from this old version are no longer in tact. I would simply wish to update the biographical information if a simple conflict of interest request was granted. I have spent time reading articles and communicating with HickoryOughtShirt?4 to try and better understand the policies so any further edits (as allowed) will meet Wikipedia's standards.

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

In particular, you say here: "I have spent time [...] communicating with HickoryOughtShirt?4." I assume that refers to the conversation at User talk:S0CC3RGURL20. Was that you doing the communicating there, or was that a colleague? You should also take a moment to review the username policy, particularly WP:IMPERSONATE. If you are Jill Alper, then we'd likely need confirmation via email to info-en wikimedia.org; if you aren't, you'll need to change your username. It would also help if you indicated whether you have any interest in contributing to Wikipedia beyond writing about yourself. Huon (talk) 16:38, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi User: Huon - I apologize for any confusion. A colleague was the one communicating with HickoryOughtShift?4, but after they explained the request to be unblocked should come from my account, my colleague showed me the conversation and how he responded to her questions. I would be happy to confirm that it is me on this account. Please let me know what I should email and I will gladly take care of that ASAP. Additionally, I am willing to contribute to Wikipedia in other ways! My knowledge and expereince would allow me to contribute to political articles, although there may be additional topics too.
