Speedy deletion nomination of LYNX Photonic Networks

A tag has been placed on LYNX Photonic Networks, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Improving the article

Hey Jhon. Don't worry, it's nothing personal and the article can quickly be salvaged from the threat of deletion. The main thing to look out for is the sort of text that could have come out of a promotional leaflet: Lynx is the leading photonic communication solutions company, with its own patented solid-state switching and light management technology, featured in a broad product line would be a prime example of this. Try to communicate the facts without passing comment: objectivity over subjectivity is the key. Try "Lynx is a photonic communication solutions (yuk!) company, and has patented s solid-state switching and light management technology. Did you copy anything else directly? If so, please remove it post-haste. Wikipedians hate copyright violations, and from personal experience I can tell you that it's not worth it in the long run. I'm afraid I've got to go do other stuff in real life now, but I can offer some parting advice (and you're welcome to leave queries as you have been doing and I shall seek to reply when I can). WP:YFA overs lots of stuff about writing your first article; I see no problem with you editing the article per se but do read WP:COI if you haven't already and please, please, please make sure you have just copied and pasted anything. If the article should be deleted while I am away, I can sort that out for you as well - getting you a copy to work on and then resubmit. - Jarry1250 ^{[ humourous – discuss ]} 20:02, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Article for deletion

Hi - I'm the admin who looked over the "Speedy Deletion" nomination. I rejected that and hence have listed it at "Articles For Deletion". I'm not entirely convinced that your company meets our Notability requirements, but I'm also not convinced this is a cut and dried case. Hence I've thrown it over to debate. The details are below. • Delete (weak). Despite considerable effort by the page creator, most of the links seem either self-generated by the company or are tenuous references at best. Does not strongly meet notability.Manning (talk) 09:56, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

• Keep There seems to be sufficient notability here (albeit not necessarily in the article). Hoover's has an article on the subject (always a good yardstick for WP:CORP) and I get a good feeling from news reports like this one that more may be out there. $300 million net worth seems to justify that. Admittedly, there is a load of press-release spreading going on, so it's only a weak keep from me.   • these reports are not press releases, they're market research papers, osting thousand of euros, which choose to pick out Lynx and devote time to talking about it. • Delete. Obvious advertising is a separate matter entirely from notability, and this article contains obvious advertising: Lynx built its products around its patented light management technology, to provide cost-effective, [all optical] switching solutions. Since there solution is [all optical] in nature there is no need to replace it when upgrading other elements of the network such as the [XDM]'s, [Transponder]s, and [Optical Amplifiers]. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 15:05, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

• Delete Googling produces press releases and more press releases; there's no indication that anyone really cares about what products this company may produce (and for that matter, not a lot of evidence in the article that they are producing something notable). • Delete Sorry but I can't find the reliable independent secondary sources required by WP:CORP. Yes, there are fluff pieces, but given this article's extremely self-promotional nature, I would want to see good evidence for notability to warrant keeping and fixing.
