Speedy deletion nomination of LYNX Photonic Networks edit

A tag has been placed on LYNX Photonic Networks, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Jarry1250 [ humourousdiscuss ] 19:02, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Improving the article edit

Hey Jhon. Don't worry, it's nothing personal and the article can quickly be salvaged from the threat of deletion. The main thing to look out for is the sort of text that could have come out of a promotional leaflet: Lynx is the leading photonic communication solutions company, with its own patented solid-state switching and light management technology, featured in a broad product line would be a prime example of this. Try to communicate the facts without passing comment: objectivity over subjectivity is the key. Try "Lynx is a photonic communication solutions (yuk!) company, and has patented s solid-state switching and light management technology. Other products it produces... - Jarry1250 [ humourousdiscuss ] 19:38, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Also, if you've got a conflict of interest, you might want to make that known to other editors. - Jarry1250 [ humourousdiscuss ] 19:40, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Did you copy anything else directly? If so, please remove it post-haste. Wikipedians hate copyright violations, and from personal experience I can tell you that it's not worth it in the long run. Clear all the copy-pasted material and just leave what you personally have written. - Jarry1250 [ humourousdiscuss ] 19:51, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid I've got to go do other stuff in real life now, but I can offer some parting advice (and you're welcome to leave queries as you have been doing and I shall seek to reply when I can). WP:YFA overs lots of stuff about writing your first article; I see no problem with you editing the article per se but do read WP:COI if you haven't already and please, please, please make sure you have just copied and pasted anything. If the article should be deleted while I am away, I can sort that out for you as well - getting you a copy to work on and then resubmit. - Jarry1250 [ humourousdiscuss ] 20:02, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Examples of good reliable sources: major (nationally known, preferably) newspapers; big news channels/providers; commerically available books. Hope that helps.- Jarry1250 [ humourousdiscuss ] 19:46, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article for deletion edit

Hi - I'm the admin who looked over the "Speedy Deletion" nomination. I rejected that and hence have listed it at "Articles For Deletion". I'm not entirely convinced that your company meets our Notability requirements, but I'm also not convinced this is a cut and dried case. Hence I've thrown it over to debate. The details are below.
