Speedy deletion declined: Prabalsagar edit

Hello Jethwarp. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Prabalsagar, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The news reports mentioning the subject are enough to pass the low bar of A7. If you still wish to pursue deletion, consider WP:AFD. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 12:50, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

A note edit

I should mention that I also created Hindu Temple Society of North America and Jai Jagdish Hare. I don't work for JAINA. Thank you.Malaiya (talk)

Dear Malaiya, I think u are taking AfD too personal, this I can say from your comments The claim by Jethwarp "G11: Unambiguous advertising" "it seems it has been created for self-advertisement" is really offensive. on Adf page, which is not a place to vent off your feelings. By the way I never also commented on you or where you work. In fact even article was not created by you, so why are you so much upset?

Please note that I work on Netural POV and have nothing against any religion. In fact half of my friends are Jains. I have also created Jain articles like, Jagdu Shah, Bhadreswar, Kutch, Kothara, etc. The article JAINA - awards section was self-boasting and non-encyclopaedic and did not adhere to Wiki-policy. I have noted it has been deleted. Genereally, when an article is notified for AfD - it gives ample time to the creator and contributors to modify the article to suit Wiki guidelines so that it remains in Wikipedia. Same for Prabalsagar - it was created as an Biogarphy, which should not have been the case. It is all a part of learning process. Regards.Jethwarp (talk) 06:27, 20 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am very sad to see you asking for deletion of a Wikipedia page of a prestigious, highly active and influential organizations in USA. Everything in the article is correct and well supported by newpaper reports. Its conventions draws thousands of Jain, of all sects, from all regions, from USA, UK, India, Kenya and several other countries. Individuals like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Swami Ramdev feel honored to have been invited by JAINA (http://www.dnaindia.com/world/report_5000-attend-jain-convention-in-new-jersey_1108855). 65 organizations, including all the Jain temples in USA and Canada are members of JAINA. Hundreds of volunteers, including professors, doctors, businessmen volunteer their services for JAINA. JAINA has represented the Jains in White House, US Congress, Senate etc, and has organized prayes there. The article includes links to a number of news reports, that you chose to not look at.
I think wikipedia editors interested in Indian culture should be appreciative and supportive of each other. I think you should withdraw your call for deletion. Choice is yours.
Malaiya (talk)
In view of your discussions above, I have withdrawn by Afd for JAINA. regards.Jethwarp (talk) 04:02, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rani Suhanadi edit

I noticed your redirection of this page to a section of a different article; while I understand your rationale, I am of the opinion that the material is worth keeping in an independent article. Having reviewed several sources, she really does receive significant coverage - the fact that her affair with Chach permitted the latter to become king is essential to the events portrayed in the Chach Nama. There are reliable sources that work for the article, and the fact that the user is blocked is not relevant to this particular circumstance. The contribution was constructive and written prior to his block (several years prior to his current block). Thanks, dci | TALK 04:53, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi!! DCI. I have incorporated the details in Rai Dynasty#End of the Rai Dynasty as I feel the article does not pass WP:BIO or WP:GNG guideline to have an article on itself. However, I am also of the opinion that she was instrumental in having Chach ascend the throne, therefore, created a redirect where info about her is mentioned. This info was added by me before creating a redirect. Thanks for understanding this rationale. I also felt this is unnecessary fork of (see WP:CFORK) main article so after careful consideration redirected the material. Same is case with Siharus article it is two line stub, details of which are already mentioned in Rai_Dynasty#Chronology_of_Rai_rulers_of_Sindh. This article is also unnecessary fork of Rai Dynasty and I found out was created by same person who created Rani Suhanadi. As of now it seems per discussions at AfD is likely to be redirected or merged in to Rai Dynasty article. Jethwarp (talk) 06:23, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I doubt it's a fork of Rai Dynasty when the section it was redirected to has no content. If the section is expanded (which I would be glad to work on), then a redirect would be OK, but only in the case that Rani Suhanadi's role is explained in detail. Also, which AfD discussions are you referring to? dci | TALK 16:47, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Also, if you're interested, you might want to check out User:DCI2026/Chach Nama table given your knowledge of the subject. Your help would be greatly appreciated, if you're interested. dci | TALK 18:11, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Gujarat Arts & Science College edit

Hello, Jethwarp, and thank you for your contributions!

An article you worked on Gujarat Arts & Science College, appears to be directly copied from http://gasc.gujarat.gov.in/index.html. Please take a minute to make sure that the text is freely licensed and properly attributed as a reference, otherwise the article may be deleted.

It's entirely possible that this bot made a mistake, so please feel free to remove this notice and the tag it placed on Gujarat Arts & Science College if necessary. MadmanBot (talk) 05:18, 28 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have deleted the article as it was a copyright violation. Just because you link to the source in the references does not mean you can copy the content. You can take information from there, but you must not copy it. You can recreate the article but if it is another copyright violation it will be deleted again. James086Talk 17:08, 1 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
You cannot copy text directly from the sources, that is violating their copyright. It does not matter if you use the source of the text as a reference, you still cannot copy the text. At the bottom of this page it says:
"Copyright © July 2012 Gujarat Arts and Science College, Ellis Bridge, Ahmedabad. | All Rights Reserved"
The content of the "History" section of the article was directly copied from that webpage, therefore it is a copyright violation and must be deleted. Please read the copyright policy of Wikipedia, in particular the second paragraph which explains that copying text is a copyright violation. That is why the article has been deleted twice. James086Talk 06:20, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Every website is copyrighted, unless it says otherwise. I have userfied it here and I think I removed all of the violating content (although if there is more that you copied, please remove it too). Once you feel it's ready you can move it to the article space (the "Move" button is up near the "View history" button at the top of the page). The college certainly seems notable and worthy of an article, it's just that Wikipedia has very strict copyright policies. Thanks, James086Talk 06:58, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I will find reliable sources available on-line move it to article space, when I am finished, as advised by you. Jethwarp (talk) 07:05, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Is નાનજી બાપાની નોંધપોથી the correct title? --Bejnar (talk) 21:22, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
નાનજી બાપાની નોંધપોથી is the correct title. I have one copy which I had bought it about 9-10 years ago from Vadodara, where it was being sold in a seminar. However, I am not aware if the book is still in print or not.

On the last page there are reviews about the book and the details it has been awarded Kutch Shakti Award at a function in Mumbai for year 2000 for best researched book throwing light on lesser known history of Kutch and Kutchi builders. May be some details could be found on Kutch Shakti Award website??

You clearly know your way around the old provinces etc, per our recent messages at WT:INB. I've now recalled the article that I was referring to there and wonder if you can assist in this thread. I can provide diffs for the various claims that have been made. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 11:22, 13 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dear Sitush, I would be always willing to help. I just went thru Jaiprakash Narayan article and one link [1] says the village Sitab Diara in Saran. Now, if he was born in 1902 as said earlier - Saran was part of Bengal Presidency. In any case pl. provide me the diffs. and I will look into it tomorrow - when I log in again - for today I am retiring. - Good Night and Thanks. - Jethwarp (talk) 15:03, 13 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sitush, you suspicion was right the Sitab Diara in Ballia and Sitab Diara in Saran are one and same place. Although online google books are confusing and there a reason for it as explained under :-

Please go thru the following news link

Since from above we references we can say Sitab Diara was not split till 1960 and whole of it was part of Saran, Bihar. Now, since in 1902 Saran was part of Bengal Presidency as Bihar did not come into existence.

At present the name of Sitab Diara of Ballia has been changed to Jayprakash Nagar - see link - It is Baburbani that socialist stalwart and former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar developed into Jaiprakash Nagar and set up JP memorial trust, preserving Loknayak’s ancestral house as a memorial and constructing guest house for social activists.

Whereas the Sitab Diara in Saran, Bihar the name of village is still Sitab Diara. - where also there is a trust maintaining his ancestral house - The Trust looking after the J. P. memorial at Sitab Diara, however, feels that things are beginning to change under the Nitish Kumar government. "Since Nitish ji 's visit in February 2010, development activities have taken place. The state government has allocated ` 3.75 crore to the village

So considering the historical view, we can say Jayaprakash Narayan was born in village Sitab Diara, in Saran district of erstwhile Bengal Presidency, British India on 11 October 1902.

Deva Devali, etc edit

Just a passing shot
It seem to me you and RJ could have saved a lot of argument and grief by simply going to the talk page and saying you thought there were some mistakes in the content and saying what you thought they were. Instead you have treated us to misrepresentation ([3], etc: no, the content was not deleted; it was still there on the page), distortion, ([4], etc: neither I or anyone else “already admitted they made a mistake”) and underhandedness ([5], etc: you really need to read WP:BRD and WP:CONSENSUS on the subject of editing pages whilst they are under discussion).
And throughout it all there is the unpleasant notion that all this is some sectarian attack on articles describing another religious persuasion. I would hope you do not intend to pursue all your activities on WP in the same manner. (and no, this is not a personal attack, this is calling a spade a spade). Moonraker12 (talk) 16:46, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please see your comments @ User_talk:Zananiri and User_talk:Neo.#Deva_Devali - where-in there is already admittance of mistake in naming the article. If you all editors are working on netrual point of view, by this time after creation of Diwali (Jainism) article, ( the creation of new page also indirect admittance that Deva Devali was not proper ) should have changed your vote - but instead you all are not ready to accept your faults and fight only on Jainism point of view. My more than half friends are Jains and I celebrate most of their festivals with them and also often visit Derasar with them. I work on Neutral POV - so please do not point a finger at me rather, retrospect and look at your faults. Thanks. Jethwarp (talk) 13:10, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I just went thru deletion nominator RahulJain's (who has gone into retirement) contribution [6] and his [7] talk page and found out he was contributing towards improvement of Jainism articles - to the point of being pushing Jainism point of view - considering this fact - he must have nominated this article for AfD - only because he thought that the article was not factual - It is bad that he went into retirement - in middle of AfD - must have his own reasons for doing so - editing Wikipedia sometimes gets on your nerves!!!! - Jethwarp (talk) 14:00, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Kutch Gurjar Kshatriyas contributions to the Indian railways edit

Hi, don't you think that Kutch Gurjar Kshatriyas contributions to the Indian railways is becoming silly? We are not supposed to be an indiscriminate collection of facts and the article is mostly a list of non-notable people doing non-notable things. If it was not for the existence of a diary - a primary source - then there would be much less content and the article would not be the crazy length that it is at present. If it keeps growing then someone is going to turn up and massively trim it, possibly in a way that you do not like. There is, you see, a system-generated list of the largest articles on Wikipedia and people do keep an eye on it. - Sitush (talk) 15:57, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
