Hi JesterCountess

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! -- Tinu Cherian - 08:59, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikia

Greetings again. Thank you for the userboxes - my best laugh in weeks.

I'm really looking forward to having you as a thoroughly competent MediaWikian and perfect speaker of English working on Wikindia. It needs more of both. And it would benefit from having a copy of all the India material you have written here.

Warm regards

North East

My name's Fundamental Metric Tensor ;) . Thank you for your endorsement, can you help out with the North East India article ? I am invariant under co-ordinate transformations (talk) 03:46, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Royce Matthews

The ip is blocked 31 hours only, without knowing how stable the ip address is I couldn't block for longer without possibly effecting another party. If Royce Matthews returns on that ip then we know it is reasonably stable and if a report to AIV comments that they were blocked for the same reason the next block will likely be longer (and longer again for a repeat violation). If he comes back as a different ip then it is simply a game of "whack a mole"; report it to AIV noting the previous ip address he was blocked under and the new one will get another short block, and repeat as necessary. If he persists in changing ip's to continue, then some consideration will have to be given for a limited range block. This would need be requested at WP:ANI.

Thanks for the Barnstar. I'll go place it in the gallery dreckly (Cornish colloquial for "right away"). LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:28, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I would be reluctant to protect the ip page, since WP:AGF considerations allows the blocked editor to challenge their block (and any other editor on that address to ask for help). If the ip abuses that consideration (by launching further personal attacks or other policy violations) it can then be protected. It can, of course, be ignored by the possible target(s) - which is what I suggest.
I would also be reluctant to semi-protect the target articles if it is only the one ip vandalising it - it is better to block the one ip and let other good faith ip's continue to edit. If there is a range of ip's vandalising, no matter if it is the same edit or different ones, then semi-protection may be an option. This will generally be for a short while, unless the vandalism has been long term. You can ask at WP:RFPP, or again at WP:ANI if it is urgent.
Generally, it is much the same for your talkpage - it is preferred that you keep the lines of communication open - but most admins are willing to do short protections, and I am among them. When you have an example of a harasser using mulitple ip's to disrupt your pages then ask me or yet again at WP:ANI (ANI would be better because there are sysops around when I am not).
I hope this helps. LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:45, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm complaining against 72.189.4.182 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log).

The IP 72.189.4.182 [1] has continually harassed me, as well as others (including administrators who have blocked him). In addition, he has concocted false claims (look at links; e.g. that I work for Disney when I am clearly not old enough to) and is legally threatening us and others. There are several forms of proof, e.g. here [2]; [3]; [4]; [5]; [6]; [7]; [8]. This user is none other than Royce Mathew (the previously blocked User:Disneysuit, who is continually breaking several Wikipolicies.BlackPearl14Pirate Lord-ess of the Caribbean 19:38, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

This type of report would be best made at WP:ANI. What action would you like us to take? –xeno (talk) 14:31, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

re 72.189.4.182 (talk · contribs)

As you are aware, the ip that Royce Matthew has been using has been blocked. I have also protected your talkpage for a short while against editing by any ip, so Mr Matthew would not be able to continue harassing you when the block expires. I will lift the protection if you need to communicate with another ip editor, although I would suggest using the relevant article talkpage as required.
Could you confirm that you are of school age (or go to further education college/university) and are not considered an adult - below voting age - in your country. I am considering whether there should be a complaint made to Mr Matthew's isp, and if no result the local police, for harassing a minor. Under the circumstances, I think you should ignore this poster from now on (except to make AIV reports) and not respond to their posts or edit their talkpage. A combination of sanctions and the reporting of him to off-wiki authorities will be the best response to further targetted disruption. LessHeard vanU (talk) 13:19, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
I have just read your comments at User talk:Whoville; there is no need to be upset - just keep on doing what you enjoy, and ignore Mr Matthew. Mr Matthew's issues are nobodies problem but his. LessHeard vanU (talk) 13:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
